Economic inequality is the unequal distribution of income and opportunity between different groups in society.
While studying in the USA I learned that the republican party like right wing Modi's BJP, is socialist for the Rich and corporations and capitalist for poor & workers. In Modi's India this apply perfectly. Modi is providing tax cuts to corporations and contacts to Adani & Ambani like dhanna seths but raises tax revenue via GST which is disproprotionately impacting the poor and laborers when looked in terms of marginal rate of taxation. Modi's writing off of the loans to cororations is another example of socialism to the rich and corporations. As a result the income gap between the rich and poor has widened. This will continue until this contract based economic operation in India under Modi such as contract laborer, contract given of the state assets, contract army, police, teachers etc.continues. Modi's party does believe in top-down economics. Therefore, Modi's right wing BJP must be replaced by INC&alliance who believe in bottom-up approach to economic development.

From 1947 to 2014 did we not have bottom up approach? What development you could see in the lives of poor - for so long govt could not provide toilets , gas, power, water to poor. Only after 2014 people realised that poor do not have even basic toilets. So you guys please keep shut your mouths.

INC and others had problems strengthening democracy creating basic infrastructurres, had been embroiled in Kota system etc. Whenever you bring 1947 to 2014 you bring your intellect to Modi level. Economic liberalization only came circa 1992 and then after Modern India's economy marched. Do not bring pre 1992 period which had many hiccups and quotas etc. Now compare growth rate between 2004 to 2014 and 2014 to 2024. You will see the previous has higher rate and less income inequality whereas the latter has lower growth and wider income inequality. Do you read about trickle -down economics vs liberal economics? Do you listen Dr.Parakala Pravakar, Raghu ram Rajan, Urijit Patel, Arun Kumar like professors or listen to Amit Shah, Modi, Sudhansu Trivedi. Did you study JMKeynes, Paul Krugman, Joseph Stiglitz, Jagdish Bhagwati or just whatsapp propaganda. Economics is contentous especially macroeconomic items are arguable either way and statistics are debatable not hard mathematics. Arguing on the basis of principles is one thing just supporting citing how many toilets, roads, buildings etc are built is another.Fiscal policy proposition shows liberal economics vs trickle down economics. There were rich and will always be rich afterall India is not a communist country; even Indian communists participate/believe electoral democracy? So, my contention is 'contact based economics', giving tax breaks to mega corps & rich and not forgiving loans to farmers/small businesses is not liberal economics. (P2) I agree to the most of it and middle class is a different beast and perhaps those who are educated and not just degree holder is perhaps the biggest enemy of Supreme Leader.
However I don't agree with the hypothesis pertaining to lower class. If I check the data it is the lower class who is the biggest votebank of the Supreme Leader.
