I remember that she did that with Meri when she was catfished. When it just started being a storyline, Robyn claimed that she knew Meri was having an emotional affair for 6 months prior, then brushing it off that that was already common knowledge in the family.

I'm just glad Christine is out and happy! In this episode, Kody and Robyn have once again made it very clear what selfish people they are! They will never take responsibility for their mistakes!

@@janets9179 I think any love she had for evaporated after he abandoned their daughter during a life-threatening surgery. She said as much during confessionals. Every conversation she’s had with him since hasn’t only reinforced that it was the right decision, which she also has said.
Cody moved the hole family to Flagstaff for Robin's son to go to college but he can't help Isabelle move to college

When Janelle mentioned that Robin's house was also financed with the familymoney, I found kody's behavior towards Janelle even worse! Janelle bought a RV with her OWN money, not with the familymoney, so that the familiy can build on CoyotePass! She is making sacrifices for the family and all this with her OWN money! I would have expected Kody to recognize this, maybe find it difficult but at least say I am grateful to Janele for trying and making these sacrifices for our dream! Instead, he makes fun of her, is mean! Kody, what sacrifices do you make for YOUR family?

She left out her amounts. Ribyn and Kody have paid off parcels and a mortgage in a home 2x the value of the others except Meri. Meri is renting though. She has the business or does she? She didn’t get any proper settlement with the legal divorce and Robyns name is on so much paid for stuff… Kody 50% the rest 12% is why polygamy is bad policy and is illegal and should be locking people up. Why doesn’t TLC talk about how sweet they were looking at each other’s interest earlier in the show when it came to money and leaving?
I think Meri resents Christine because Christine has enough self respect to leave and Meri doesn’t. She wants Christine to stay and be a doormat along with her so she will feel better about staying.
I agree, she resents Christine feeling entitled to something better than a loveless marriage. I think she saw Christine staying until now as validation that sticking it out is the right thing to do. Meri clearly has very intense conflicting feelings. To Meri, I want to highlight that a “friend” who is happy you make a choice to settle for being devalued is not a “friend.” Robyn is not her friend. A friend wants the best for you.

Spot on what you said about Ysabel being sad not because she is leaving home but because she knows she won't be hearing from her dad again. You can see the moment that thought dawned on her.
Meri is crushed that no one appreciates everything she has done and given up for the family. She divorced Kody so that he could marry Robyn, adopt Robyn's kids and provide health care. She is crushed that the kids are fine with Christine leaving and finding happiness elsewhere. She thought she had to stay for the kids so that she could stay in their lives. Christine has proven that thought wrong. She also stayed for the public image of maintaining polygamy as a good thing so that the TLC money stream would continue for the family. I'm stunned that Meri did not smack Robyn when Robyn said that she needs to stay for the family and rebuild. Robyn does not care about Meri or her happiness. Robyn sounds like a manager trying to motivate an employee to try to prop up a failing company. Not family, not friends.
When Ysabel said she understood that kody could not leave for very long because he had little kids I was reminded of when he went on honeymoon with Robyn. There is a clip of Janell, Meri, and Christine talking about how his honeymoon of 11 days was too long for him to be away considering that he had SEVERAL houses of young kids (including Robyn's).

My husband and I were having a conversation about Meri the other day. He said that maybe Meri is angry because (as she claims) God is telling her to stay whilst Christine (who has also prayed to God) is telling her to leave. He thinks that Meri believes God is trying to make her suffer and she's taking that out on her sister wives (as usual).

I am convinced that Robin knew when she bought her house that they were never going to live on Coyote Pass. Does everyone remember when Robin was supposed to be looking for a house to rent and she used the excuse that she had to many kids to find a house to rent. That is ridiculous!
I am not usually a Robyn supporter but Robyn was against buying a house and wanted to find a rental, Kody was the one wanting to buy a house.

I don't believe that there wasn't one rental available that they could rent temporary. 3 of her kids are now over 18 and you heard Cody say, after they are 18 then BYE BYE! She absolutely did not need a 6 bedroom 4500 sq ft home. Think about it, now she owns more than any other wife she owns More than all wives put together and she has never worked a day. She came into the marriage in debt, the family paid off for her.
I live in Az when my 3 girl was small and it is hard to rent in that hell hole they rent to people that has a house full of animals an snow birds

Wrong, there was a whole season devoted to Robyn buying the house. She wanted to rent so she could build on Coyote Pass eventually. They fought over it. There is a housing shortage on Flagstaff, it is a "boutique" city.

If I previously had any sympathy or respect for Robyn, it has completely vanished after yesterday. Yes, I understand that she was raised in this culture. I’m just…ugh…The delusion and manipulation was just oozing from her during that conversation. She and Meri are sitting there going on and on about how her departure is destroying the family and it’s triggering. Then they have the audacity to say, “Why didn’t she reach out to us?” First off, she did. Second, What?! Hold up. Let me switch up this question: Why didn’t you guys reach out to her? Since you guys proclaim to care so much about plural marriage, when she made that announcement she was out, why didn’t either of you throw over a text going, “ Hey, how are you doing? I know this must of been a hard decision…” Nope. Then Meri went on about poor Kody…poor Kody nothing! Kody isn’t the victim! Neither are you or your lil buddy, Robyn. Couldn't wait to hear your take! I was struck by Kody, Meri and Robyn's response to Christine leaving. They're not mad she's no longer in love, they're not mad she's "divorcing" Kody. They're only mad because she's actually leaving. Since their salvation and place in heaven depends upon having a certain number of wives, it's clear that Meri and Robyn are true believers who see Christine's leaving as something that interferes with their salvation. Selfish, of course, but it's bigger for them than whether Christine is around or not. They don't care if they ever see her again (obviously they didn't bother trying to see her before the split) but they do care that she isn't part of the family. These beliefs are so screwed up that it's causing these women to be crazy selfish. Kody is obviously suffering from an narcissistic injury. You can see this when he describes the house, belongings and even Christine as "mine." Crazy family.
Christine said in a interview with US magazine that Janelle still talks to kody, I thought if Janelle and kody were still a couple that's an odd statement. I think Janelle will announce it after this season.

I was terrified to really see Robyn's true colors. I know we have talked about it over the years, but it really shined through on this episode.
1. SHE is the culprit behind the 'whispers' about Christine's 'complaints' about Kody. Did you notice how Meri knew nothing about these sold called complaints? To boot, she is probably lying on Christine. Why would Christine confide in her?
2. If she was really concerned with Meri or Christine remaining in the family, she would have showed concern before now.
3. The way they are trying to guilt Christine in the last episode, clearly shows that they only want her and Meri to stay for financial gain.

In one episode in Las Vegas, Christine did pour her heart out to Robyn. Robyn took that and ran with it. Robyn also used the photo of Kody with Christine and two of the girks as the basis for that creepy painting of Kody with her older children. I think Robyn is not a mentally well person.
Robyn is a walking advertisement of 'be careful what you wish for'.
Christine is the actual center of the family ( minus Robyn's kids to a degree. I'm sure they love Christine too ). She is the one who raised most of the kids and was always available. Kody thought he was, but jokes on him.

I have news for Kody. My ex left me for a woman he was having an affair with. He gave up everything for her and went crazy for her. 4 months after we ended she dumped him. I felt bad for him but I warned him so I wished him well on his new journey letting him know this door was closed. So once Kody gives up his wives and kids I feel Robyn will move on and he will be sitting there all alone with burning bridges all around him.

There are two ways to divide assets fairly. She takes 1/5 of the family net worth. Includes Meri and Janelle’s businesses too. (Appropriate since she was the main caretaker of all the children for 20+ years). The other option is for her to take one half of her assets and 1/4 of Kody’s assets. Both options include all of Kody’s businesses (pew-pew shows and used car sales in addition to investments and anything else we don’t know about). Both options would mean that she walks away with the proceeds to her house and the FAIR proceeds for her lot and more. IMO. He got off lucky.

When Cody references “the family” he really means himself and Robyn. When he was in the truck with his friend he stated that he had “a couple” of wives. He doesn’t acknowledge Meri at all yet she had the audacity to be mad at Christine?! 😡 No she’s mad that Christine was brave enough to recognize that she needed to move regardless of how they, or anyone else, felt. For the first time in his life Cody is in a situation that he is not controlling and he’s thrown completely off. He’s use to being the abuser and not being held accountable for his phantom actions of being “head of the family”. Have a seat 💺 Cody!! Robyn,she finally showed on camera what she does behind the scene and that’s being the most manipulative, trifling and selfish narcissistic troll! She’s the female version of Cody but her skills are way more advanced and she knows how to play the victim to the untrained eye.

I don't know if it's jealousy or pain but she never reached out to Christine. Janelle looked stunning at Logan's wedding. Thank you for calling out Kody's lying and manipulations for what it is. It is a parent's responsibility to maintain relationships, period. Also, thank you so much for not dead naming Leon. A lot of people online, in commentary type stuff, have been. I noticed Ysabel almost said she was excited to be leaving and then caught herself and said sad to be leaving her dad. I have a difficult relationship with a parent so I can relate. I hope her experience w/ Maddie and Caleb is healing like Janelle said. I forgot to comment on last week's recap, but I did watch. Just wanted to say your impression of Kody was spot on. Also, he calls himself a priest because in Mormonism and fundie Mormonism, they believe males get the priesthood and preside over their families. It's like a special religious thing to them.

I’ve been rewatching season 1 and Christine’s frustration and irritation with Robyn is SO evident even then. And seriously, Robyn really came in like a sledgehammer to this family. The ecosystem of that family was so delicate but it seems like it was finally balanced but Robyn comes and could care less. Any stupid thing she wants she gets from day freakin 1.
I think Robyn’s visit to Meri had Kody written all over it. It was his attempt to make sure Meri didn’t follow Christine’s example. Everytime Meri starts to call out Kody’s part in the break up she redirects to Christine. I love how they use Christine’s quote that she wanted sister wives, but fail to take any ownership over the fact that they haven’t bothered to be engaged with her for years. There are definitely gangs of sister wives in this family, for good or bad.
I don't even CARE about the show! I just want to see your glorious recaps!!! I love to see a married couple that is so happy and so loving to each other. I love how you and John shared about his previous breakup over his ex-wife's cheating and how now he's with a wife that makes him happy. I honestly think Meri is more mad at Christine because Christine is being brave enough to leave. Christine is doing something Meri wishes she can do but she’s just not brave enough to do it.

So here's a thought for y'all, and maybe you can come up with a tangent or two for it. It's been reported that the bubonic plague has been found on coyote pass in the dirt. The reason being that the prairie dogs are carriers and their feces have contaminated the dirt. One of the reports mentioned off hand that the dirt would have to be removed in order to put in utilities/build. So the real question is: allegedly Kody knew because it was in the purchase paperwork that the plague had been found on the land. In one episode it is flat out mentioned and he is told not to allow the kids to play in the dirt. Why would it matter if the land is paid off when it cannot be built up due to disease concerns?

Also, if that's the case, it would be almost impossible to sell the land. They really are in a big mess. And why would Janelle want to live there? I have a feeling bankruptcy is the next step.
@@newenglandlight8724 I sort of fall in line with the theory that they will chase everyone off and take the land to divide for Robyn's 5 kids. I'm not 100% there yet, but seeing just how close her house is to the land... It kinda makes sense.

I think Robyn is a master manipulator who thought she had everything under control and suddenly found herself way in over her head. Robyn built her life with Kody to be all about him. The family would cater to him, the world would stop whenever he showed up, which if you have someone coming by once or twice a week, not hard, but having to continue trying to keep that up for over a year, day in, day out, cannot be easy, and I think she's over it. I also agree that while she must care about him, she doesn't love him as much as he seems to care about her. As for Meri...I could be wrong, but since Meri owns a parcel of land...well "owns" out at Coyote Pass, that she is probably still putting in money into the 'family' fund to pay for it, so I'm guessing she is still contributing to the finances of the entire family. I don't know how I feel about Meri, I'm conflicted, because part of me feels like we watched Kody, and even some of, if not all of the wives, 'beat' (I mean verbally, not physically) Meri into submission. She went from being this outspoken, obnoxious at times, woman who didn't take crap off of anyone and now she's a shell of her former self. The things she said about Christine and Kody breaking up, didn't match. She said Kody gave up on her and gave up on Christine, then she turned around and blamed Christine. Almost as if she was afraid she'd said too much and somehow had to correct herself. It's hard to watch anything she says or does, because I want to shake her and tell her to have more respect for herself, but I honestly think that's been 'whipped' out of her by Kody's treatment.
Robin likes to say that she married into the family to be a part of a larger family but I think she did it (selfishly) so she would have her bills paid. She was inundated with a lot of debt and by marrying in, she (and her kids) would be financially covered for life. She is the only legal wife therefore she is the only one who would inherit all his money if he kicked the bucket. I think she just wanted to hitch herself to the gravy train.
You guys nailed it with this one! The main impetus for this family’s disintegration is Kody being besotted with Robyn from day 1 leading him to gradually sacrifice every other wife and child’s needs to cater to her ever increasing demands. Complicated by Robyn’s growing annoyance that he can’t give her everything she wants yet still keep 3 other wives satisfied with scraps to guarantee her place in polygamy heaven. And then there’s Meri - semi-rational scorned wife one moment - parroting Robyn’s gaslighting baloney the next. Has Meri been as financially separate as she is emotionally separate from ‘the family’ since Kody told her there was no family money to buy her B&B? Why hasn’t she built on Coyote Pass? (Look at the mountain!) Maybe Meri already realised what’s taken Janelle 4 months in a 5th wheel to wake up to - no-one gets to build on Coyote Pass but Robyn and Kody - maybe a nice safe compound to store all their food and weapons in readiness for the apocalypse….

I think it's sad that Kody isn't just pitting one wife against another, but one kid against another. Can Truly or Savannah have good feelings for their siblings that were used as an excuse for why Dad can't spend time with them? There is a huge wedge in the family and it is literally the one that is supposed to lead them.

The reason why Robin acts the way she does on camera is because it's all an act she doesn't want the public to think that she's out for herself and her kids But what she doesn't realize is that we are all on to her....

I never thought about Kody caring more for Robyn than she does for him. But, that could well be true. The way she complains about him being around all the time. Hmmmm
I had never thought of it, either and was very interested in this idea. At the beginning of their marriage it seemed that she was crazy for Kody. Their courtship period that was in the very first episode they both seemed just giddy about each other. It seemed SO awkward to be that giddy in love in front of the three other wives. Nikki said she had a theory about Robyn and that she wasn't a psychologist, so she didn't go further with it. I'm dying to know what that theory is!

I completely missed Kody saying he has only told Meri and Robyn his side. Given Meri has been so isolated from the family I'm wondering if her back and forth struggle is because she empathizes with Christine while hearing whatever tale Kody is spreading.
He's thirsty for numbers to go against Christine. And Meri is thirsty for any attention from Kody.
I have actually heard Christine is filming for the next season, and that a lot of the content is her and Janelle together.

I think Meri has blamed herself over all these years for the demise of her marriage, and has held on to the crumbs that are periodically thrown to her because she feels she is the one who is responsible to fix it. Yes, she is partially to blame, but it takes two to tango. When she said, "Kody's not fighting for Christine, just like he didn't fight for me." I think it's finally sinking in that Kody has some major issues that are his and his alone and he has a pattern of behavior that is veery unhealthy. I was also shocked when I saw the wedding pictures where she was sitting. I'm wondering if she finally woke up and is done with him.
With Meri’s money, I don’t know that she does contribute to the family pool because when they wouldn’t help her buy the bed and breakfast, I remember her saying she would just buy it herself and keep all the profits herself. I also remember Robyn being so offended because she had to make a business plan to present to the family for her jewelry business and wanted Meri to have to do the same on the b&b. I think that’s when Meri dove into Lularoe, she needed the money for the down payment and the family wouldn’t help her
Yes I think she left Kody. I didn't think so until I saw the photos and she (Janelle) was sitting with Mari and Kody was sitting with Robyn. Most of the other weddings or graduations he was with the mother of the kid with the special occasion.
I think at Logan’s wedding Kody was supposed to sit next to Janelle where Meri sat. And Kodi switched places with Meri who was supposed to sit next to the golden wife. And that’s why Christine was in second row so as not to sit next to Kody (according to the “original theoretical “ seating chart).

Did you know that the Christine's portion of C.P. was signed over and put in Robin's & Cody's name not Janelles so they own 60% Janelle 20% & Mary 20%. Robin came into the family with less than $0. The family had worked 15 yrs without her somehow she has ended up with the majority of all the families money and has never worked and she has all rights to everything Cody owns including his retirement.
Oh boy. That is trouble brewing for Meri and Janelle.
Kody doesn't want to build on Coyote Pass. He's happy to live at Robyn's. He wants Janelle to leave, Meri to move to the bed and breakfas' so he can sell the property and keep the profits.

Kody has been whining incessantly for seasons. He complained about having to play husband to four wives. Then he complained about playing father to 18 children. He chose this life. Time to put on the big boy draws and deal with. Also, if all your kids hate you, you are the problem 💯

It’s weird because Robyn is listed as the richest of the wives. I would have thought it was Meri. The only thing I can think is Kody has given Robyn the most money and equity. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I can’t stand the Meri and Robyn discussion. The only thing I could think of the entire time was, how in the world could you as a woman who has basically been abandoned by this man sit and talk with the woman that he has an intimate relationship with the man you love. I just can’t imagine being on her side. And then when Robyn says, “She belongs with us.” Like she’s just their property. And he should be able to treat her any way she wants. I think it all stems from their religion. Meri and Robyn are so indoctrinated in their religion that they literally think this is getting them to heaven. It’s the saddest thing ever to me. It’s like Robyn is dangling Kody in front of Meri like a prize she can get if she just stays in this horrible “relationship.”
Robyn making Christine leaving all about her and her kids was just insane. I oscillate between feeling bad for Meri and this emotional cult of personality she is clearly stuck in and feeling like she has made her own bed here. I am going to blow a gasket next episode with Robyn and her high and mighty "technically you aren't divorced". Because holy shit.
Janelle and the RV continue to highlight how much this "family" doesn't act like a family. No one offers to help (other than Christine as much as she can while leaving), no one offers to give Savannah a place in their home so she doesn't have to sleep in the RV. Like there is nothing. They are just out there and whatever. It is clear you all do not know what "family" is Robyn so stop fake crying about it.
Kody continuing to abandon and neglect his kids is just heartbreaking. I am glad that they seem to have strong sibling bonds and Christine and Janelle. Hopefully that will help them heal from these wounds that their father is inflicting on them.
Looking forward to the rewatch with you both! I think it will be interesting to see what insights on the old episodes you see now that we know it all crumbles.
It's not what you would expect from a polygamous marriage. Not only are they not living in the same house, they're not living in the same neighborhood.
Kind of funny how Robyn laments that the kids got only one - Christine biased - side of the story, especially if one remembers how Robyn broke the news to her kids that the family will not be together for Thanksgiving, manipulating her kids to believe that they are just not important enough for Janelle and Christine to be with them (by the way, I'm sure the "Mother of the Year" Award that she deserved for that just got lost in the mail).
I want to see the show 70 percent Christine and Janelle new life with the kids back in the show and
30 percent Kody and Robin life imploding as robin has to get a job !!
