      There's a small gap between the valance and the bumper, so the plasti dip won't connect. However, you want to get a solid amount of dip on the bumper so you can peel it off easily. It's just easier to get looking clean and to peel off that way, at least in my experience.

    Two things I’d do differently:
    (1) Invest in a high quality respirator, especially if you’re going to paint indoors. You’ll be surprised as to the amount of toxin the paint releases.
    (2) Spray the paint on a practice sheet to clear any blockage. The dip tends to block the nozzle when dried.

    Looks great. It is unfortunate that so many car manufacturers put these silver accent pieces on the bumpers. They do it just to make you want to move up to the higher trim because litterally nobody likes it. I have these same things on my Blazer and it makes it look much worse. They weren't there I would have the full monochrome black and white look. I am considering plastidipping them, but they are textured plastic, so I don't know how they would hold up or if I could get it off later if I wanted.

      Put the coats on thick, let it dry, and the dip will peel well at any joints.

      The bumper cover is definitely plastic. Can't say if it's PE though. You can always try a small spot and peel it off to test it.

    why do u need to leave gap when taping?

    • @9to5Escape
      @9to5Escape  Před 4 lety +3

      Leaving a gap allows you to paint a border around your paint area that you can easily peel off at the end to create a clean cut. Be sure to apply a thick coat to the gap.

    That piece comes off the bumper pretty easily though... the plastidip will last much longer If the coats go around the edge instead of being ripped off at the edge like what happens when you paint the part on the car.

      If there is a gap, the plasti dip peels well (especially when you put it on thick).
