- Super Sport Powered touring bike for ultimate adrenaline and comfort. 2-Up riding with thrill and comfort. A large framed 1400CC Super Sport Touring bike that lets you or you and you favorite passenger get out there and run some real miles with perfoermance blended with comfort.
Im 30, ridding 1st gen vstrom 1000 for 5 years but im drooling over that bike 24/7. I hope 1 day i will be fortunate enough to buy one, its such an underrated bike.
I had an 03 Strom 1000 also. Loved it.
You can find a good used C-14 for not a lot of money. I have had my 2009 since new. It's a good bike.
There are C14s out there with 300k miles and never been apart. You can find tons with 40-60k miles for around $5k and less. There is no reason not to own one now. Mine is an 18 with tons of mods and had 17k a few months ago, I paid $10,250 plus taxes and tags. But if I were willing to go older, more miles or less mods I could have went much lower. I have a sickness to where I like new or nearly new things, so I wanted new as I could find, as low miles as I could find and I wanted the previous owner to pay for the mods. Mine was tuned with the Mountain Runner, 2 Brothers exhaust, Sargent World seat, T Rex crash bars, and KN air filter. So to me I got a bargain.
Definitely a great sport touring bike ! It was one of the top 3 options I had in mind before buying my Triumph Trophy SE. Well done, Cheers, Eddie
Definitely miss the '13 Connie I had. Never should've gave it up. Will be getting another one day as a second ride. Unbeatable machine.
Just bought a 2016 with 2000 miles on it Last week with full accessories and acropovich exhaust. Absolutely love it. $10,500 out the door was hard to pass on.
I got this in Ohio for $10,500 plus $250 dealer fees, then bright it to Pa and had to pay my 6% sales tax and buy a plate. You did better than me, but I do love the machine.
I wish that the pegs were a couple inches lower and forward, more like a standard. My 51 year old knees start cramping up on this after an hour and half or so.
I bought my gtr1400 3 months ago .
What a complete land missile it is.
She’s a keeper 👍
I agree about land missile. She can be soft and docile if you want, but with the Mountain Runner tune in it from Shoodaben Engineering it can be a literal weapon if you desire.
I’m buying a 13 Connie with a muzzy slide on wondering how I’d know if the ecu has been flashed or not ? The owner doesn’t know he got it used as well . Tia

Agree with you 100%. It's as fast as you'll ever go and it'll go for miles.
Love mine.
I know a guy who has put almost 400,000 miles on his. The only thing that has gone bad on it was the TPMS sensor. I know another guy who has a Zx14r with 100,000 miles. They are incredibly reliable.
I got a used low mileage '16 Concours last year, and in 35 seasons of riding I've never had a bike that's this much fun or one I've put as many miles on in a season. The only thing I channged out was the stock windscreen for a National Cycle V-Stream that works much better for me. Ride safe!
Lift your seat and slide your ECM out and look at the bottom for a sticker that says Shoodaben Engineering. If it doesn't have the Mountain Runner standard or premium octane tune..... I'm telling you straight brother.... you need it. Now.
I bought a 2010 Concours 14 with 10K miles for $7K. It has the throttle miester, 2” risers, VStream shield. I have put on 17K miles and love it. I agree with your evaluation of it. Fun, fast, exciting, and great for racing Teslas!
You have an amazing garage by the way. Lots of awesome toys, liked and sub’d ❤
Thank you sir. We did an addition to the house about 15 years back, it had a half basement and 2 garage. With the addition, we pushed back 26 feet and the house is 38 feet long, so added 2 bays 13x38. But as they were digging the foundation for that lower level garage addition, they hit an underground spring and needed to dig deeper and set up a multi level French drain.... it was decided that in doing so, they would be pretty much digging enough to consider another layer of garages under that 26x38 upper layer.... so boom! 3 x 26 deep by 12 feet wide bays underneath for 7 total bays.
It was all done to facilitate adding bedrooms and office space in the back of the first floor living area, and the house is built on a slow that allows that new rear lower level garages and a split driveway.
Just traded my new KLR for a 10 year old Connie. Love the excitement. I had my 2010 Connie for over 10 years, and now I'm back!
You likely noticed that I've got the 2022 Fuel Injected KLR650 and then the new to me 2018 Concours 1400. My problem is that I like them both. Selling the killer 650 is not currently in my plans.
you are 100 percent right. fast nimble pretty good for everything. I wanted to sell mine because baby is coming soon and i don't need 2 bikes, but fuck that. I don't want to sell it. thank. have a great day.
I like your choice of motorcycles. I have a 2010 KLR that my wife and I rode to the arctic and then into the USA from Calgary, Canada. We have shipped to Europe and ridden it from the UK to Malta and back. Such a wonderful motorcycle. We also have a 2014 Concours. It’s just fun. So many long rides on that motorcycle. Enjoy your Concours. I have found the Michelin Pilot GT 4 to be good tires. I understand there is a new Pilot 6 GT that may give better wear. I will have to give them a try. I have found the 4’s will last about a season if you miles on and ride in a spirited manner. To bad they are all done I love the shaft drive no mess no fuss. Have fun with your new concours. I hope you find twisty roads they are dream in the curves. Loaded up two up no issues. Have fun!
Great bike . Owned mines since 2105.. I have a supersize cal wind .
I was looking at the mid sized California wind screen for my 5' 7" size with 32" inseam. What's your opinion of that for my height?
@@LarryMusgrave I big supersize one my garage unused . His fit finish isnt up to par . More some guy doing it out his garage
@@LarryMusgrave to by honest I regret . Installing it . Never got my windshield back to factory standards.
If you resided in NY I basically give it to you ....if Incan find it
@@LarryMusgrave i am the same size ...Keep the OEM windshield...Trust me Kawasaki know what they were doing . Once you take it off its hard not to lose the washer . Trust me you will crack the molding in the front and the vent wont function properly.
CRASHED MY GOLDWING looking at a 14 1400 kawasaki concourse 3500 miles 6k im going for it thanks for the info
You have two of the longest running Kaw in production I think. They threatened to stop the KLR I think they did for a year they made it better I think the Connie will be next. Needs lane assist cruise control quick shift and hill hold it is coming 😅 congrats to you.
If Momma kawasaki revamped the C14, I would throw fist fulls of money at them like I was insane. I have this 2018, and it's a fabulous vibe with the exhaust, Shoodabeen Mountain Runner tune and lifted bars. I ran her from Pittsburgh to Ocean City non stop last summer. What a great bike! As more tech and stuff and I'm in.
I have 107k on my 2009 and she still runs like a Swiss Watch. The only things that have failed on it are the front Brake light switch, front Wheel bearings and the Automatic Cam chain Tensioner. Wheel Bearings Costed me $30, Brake Light switch was $30 and I installed a manual Cam chain tensioner for $25. The Valve adjustments are above my skill set to do myself, cost was about $650 each time and they have been done twice. I maintain her at lower intervals than factory recommedations. Full Synthetic oil changes and final drive oil changes every 4k, every 2years I flush brake and clutch fluids (Russell Speed Bleeders are a must) lube throttle cables every year and I use Engine Ice coolant flushing every 2 years. I dont think I would say she is detuned, to be more accurate, she is re-tuned...for more torque in the low and midrange which is where we need the power most. I will most likely ride her till she wont run anymore, Love this Bike! Michelin Road 3, 4, 5 and now 6`s are all i run on her for tires. I have removed the Throttle butterflies, dropped in a K&N air filter, Area P slip on, and a power commander 5 (tuned). I have a Cee Baileys Euro Sport winshield (Tinted) . She is a Gentlemans Beast...
You can tell that deep down dude loves the KLR more, hence the camera position.
You know, the KLR650 is a great bike. It's a love or hate bike. This is my second one, and for some reason, I do love it. But I've also fallen in love with the C14.
I added the rostra cruise. Super easy and works great.
gracias por toda la información. muy amable 😊
Have a Concours and an Africa Twin in my stable!
When you first started riding I thought it looked familiar.... Then I saw street signs, yup know where that is.
How do this compare to the bmw k1600gtl when it comes to performance? Great video.
I've not ridden the K1600GTL, so it would be wrong for me to speak to it. I had a Suzuki V Strom DL1000 and know that for an Adventure bike, it was pretty snappy and fun. The straight cut gears in the transmission made a neat sound similar to a Mustang GT500 supercharger.
My next move will likely be a yard H2 SE. That sounds stupid fun, and I'm getting old fast! I need to make my move before I'm just to old.
@@LarryMusgrave I hear you, bro I have K 16 GTL . I call it my personal rocket ship . It’s a 2012 and I’m thinking about upgrading to new model with the auto Biper up and down like a 2019. I was just doing research when someone said take a look at Kawasaki concour 1400. I was just wondering if it was as fun in the corners like my BMW , my BMW can get a little pricey when it comes to Maintenance ,that’s another reason I’m looking at other sport tours. I have to take a look into that H2 Tour model also :)
I just got a 2009. Replacing rear brake pads and there’s a bit of oil but not a big leak. The shop wants to charge $1k for valve job, I know she’s a bear to take apart but is that steep? Biggest bike I’ve ever had….
$1000-$1200 for a valve job and new spark plugs is about typical. That's not a rip off. That said, if your a wrench, you can save around a Grand and cost yourself a weekend day to get to it and get measurements, order new shims and get them by next weekend, spend another full weekend day shimming and getting it back together, and do it yourself.
Just watched tps monitor change and registration..dont think I'll bother now..
Fun bike but definitely dont miss the ergonomics
What you go to next? When I get old I plan to move to a Goldwing. For now, I'm 52 so I want to play on the ballistic missile until it becomes an issue. I may move to an H2 SE in the next year or 2.... go full stupid.
How are the brakes? Trail braking? If you push it a bit?
I'm not a track guy, so I'm not into trail braking. The brakes are extremely strong and also able to be controlled easily. But if you need to get stopped in a big way with 400 lbs of humans on top, she will bite down and nearly toss you over the bars in my 2018. I've picked the rear tire up with front brakes before and the active breaking off.
Great review is that a 2021 I just bought one 3 months just like that one 2021 ride safe
This one is a 2018, but there have been Zero changes in the Concours from I believe 2015-2022. This has a 2 Brothers exhaust, Mountain Runner ECM tune, bar risers and canyon cage crash bars. So I was thrilled to find a newer year, low mile and well upgraded C14 for $10k.
I’m 5’8”, can you flat foot the Concourse 14?
Nor actually flat foot (5' 7") but close. And I have the Sargent World seat that I believe is cut lower than stock. I've never had a need to be flat footed. Toes on the ground of an adventure bike works just fine for me.
Thank you!
👍
the kawa or fjr
I believe that you're asking blonde or brunette...
@@LarryMusgraveCan’t go wrong either way, though Blond hair naturally is rare, (and perhaps higher maintenance) only occurs in roughly 2% of the world's population
that a termi under the cover?
Good eye. 2003 SVT Terminator, 6 speed, silver, vert, caged, Live 8.8 with 4.56, ceramic dual disk puck clutch, ported and re-geared blower, Aerospace Components brake system and I'm sure lots more that I've forgotten over the years. It's a low 10 second car on slicks and good driver. It's a high 10 second car on DOT slicks and me driving 😂
@@LarryMusgrave very nice! I don't have many "dream cars" but that is definitely one of them. Hey question do you still have the Concours 14 and if so does it still work out well for road trips with a passenger? What about the lack of cruise control?
Вы бы камеру поставили еще дальше от мотоцикла, а сами бы вообще вышли..., Нормально было бы видно...
Was going to buy one till I looked at the over extended exhaust pipe ,
One ugly mother ":';";'';, yuk !
You mean the factory can? You rarely find them on bikes once they are bought. Mine has 2 brothers exhaust, it sounds sexy as hell.
Couldn’t get past your annoying intro, got vertigo.
I owned a 2012 Connie, put 90,000 kms on it. Really liked it but it’s too heavy and not modern enough ie, cruise etc. Kawasaki missed the boat. But it’s a beautiful bike and so powerful! Valve checks are horrendously costly!
What was the cost for the valve checks?
From what I've seen in the C14 FB groups, it's all over the place for the cost, so you need to contact a many local dealers as you have around and ask. I've seen it as low a $500 and as high as $1300. So what a person tells you, kind of doesn't matter. You'll need to see what your local shops are asking, or do it at home yourself.
In Canada it cost me $1300 to $1500.
