  • As part of our flipped classroom teaching this is the basic introductory video we get our medical students to watch before attending a workshop that then builds on the subject - it is not designed to be a stand alone teaching tool but we thought we would make it available incase it was of use to anyone else.

    If you insert at a 30 degree angle and insert fast, you will blow the vein a high percentage of the time! From experience as a ICU nurse, go at a degree more parallel to the vein more like 5 or 10 degree angle, insert until you see a flash, then advance the catheter. Happy vein hunting!

    you supposed to clean the patient hand site inside out circle motion, also thats not the correct way to remove gloves from your hands :/
