Tim Blanks you are an incredible interviewer and believe me, your quarantine conversations with fashion professionals are being very important documents and will certainly influence a new generation that is now strongly impacted by these dark times. Keep these records beyond CZcams. For the future.

Even though this is from two years ago, what I truly appreciate from this honest conversation is that I get to see that even a successful person like Mark Jacobs struggles with anxiety, spending too much time in his head and that type of things. So that helps me aknowledge that, although many times I feel confused or incomplete myself, I too have had successes and I do have what it takes to strive and keep doing my best contribution in life. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Only watching this now. Who knew how the world would have changed since. Revolution is televised. I just adore how human and a deep thinker Marc is, in the sense of allowing himself not to know what will come and acknowledging his (mine too and many people's) privileged place that want to take part in the change. Thank you

a very interesting conversation. sounds like me and Marc share many of the same existential and creative thoughts. also heavily agree on shopping being an experience, nothing like walking into a store an being captured by unexpected colours and materials and trying on outfits- what a wonderful way to pass the time, so much more satisfying than scrolling screens endlessly

BoF has become so exclusive in its delivery these numbers are abysmal.
With this kind of top talent they should easily be racking up thousands more views easily, but they can't cultivate a wider audience because their facade as a company is so unapproachable.

Thank you so much for this candid conversation and for talking about the shopping experience and the industry in NYC. I was listening to this in the background and it made my day. I actually think that Millenials will eventually embrace more live and in person experiences, but it will be different for us and them. Keep in mind that the older Millenials are now reaching 40 and people still talk about them like they're in their late 20s.
I'm a GenXer and I think we need to be fair to those younger than us and be patient because the pendulum will swing, they're going to get "tired" of everything being online and when the time comes, some of them will need and ask for our help. When that happens, we'll need to be a little compassionate and help guide them along the way. Just like those who came before us, because you can't miss what you never had. The Millenials and Gen Z or whomever - don't really have much to compare this to.
I have vivid and cherished memories of when I first visited Bergdorf Goodman or when my mother took me to a ladies luncheon/fashion show at the little department store in my small hometown and I was 10 and we both got all dressed up.
It's similar to when you go out to dinner. When you go to an expensive restaurant - you're NOT going just for the food. The food is very important of course but you're also going for the ambiance and the level of service. It's almost like a performance and ditto for any other service-based business.
As for what Marc said about writing letters - don't be surprised if really beautiful, expensive stationary becomes a status symbol again - like a Birken bag. Just look at the success of all the hand-lettering accounts on Instagram - there are a LOT of young people who have an keen interest in craft and making things with their hands. There are still bright days ahead. Again, many thanks :)

Thank you for speaking so candidly about mental health. I feel like it’s a topic that could be looked down upon in fashion as everyone expects you to be tough. Glad that things are changing.

I feel like Marcs work is being inspired by paintings and portraits. Im reading a book about were its mentioned how alot of the clothes worn in portraiture is not worn in everyday life. As a new person in the design world, I switched careerers from being a painter, I would can Marcs work is very informative

marc is in a fragile place. he forgets that he has the power to make that difference; to be that creator he is....maybe its a creation of a new business model, not just clothing. he has designer friends who can be that catalyst for change

  • @notgerhardnotrichter4951

Love Marc, but what happened to his brand? The stuff they sell on-line is horrible.. and that ugly logo and those bags... Once they merged the Marc Jacobs with Marc by Marc Jacobs lines its never been the same.. 😯 though runway shows are superb! Very very odd. #MakeMarcJacobsGreatAgain
