@SteelRodent that's a terribly narrow minded opinion. You can get PhD and be a doctor in a multitude of different subject fields. Just because your uncle is a practicing medical doctor doesn't make his title of academic recognition any more significant than someone who has a PhD in Management or English for example

I don’t know why Americans and Englishmen are so terribly narrow-minded in that regard, here in Germany it’s been normal for ages to call those without a medical doctorate (but still with a PhD) “doctor” (or “professor doctor”). These people spent about a decade getting their title, and it’s a joke to you?
Just go back to school and learn some basic manners, please. You make your countrymen look bad by comparison.
