- This lesson will show you the simplest method to produce high-quality examples in your IELTS Writing Task 2.
If used properly, examples help you get higher marks for ‘Task Response’ and ‘Coherence’. Examples make your writing easier to understand by illustrating points more effectively. They are also easy to write because it is much simpler to use an example than to try and explain a complex issue. However, this does not mean that you can insert any example and hope it will get you high marks; each example must be done properly to be effective.
The best way to think of examples is to consider how the question applies to your life experience.
Here are some things that should help you think of examples from your own life.
Let’s imagine that you are writing about the effect online businesses have had on traditional ‘bricks and mortar stores. Here are some examples I can use from my own life.
Your Country/City/Region
In Ireland, Amazon has forced many bookshops to close.
Your Job
There are a huge number of online IELTS schools competing with traditional schools.
Your Family
My family work in catering, so I could mention competition from online delivery companies, such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Current Events
Companies like Zoom and Slack have revolutionised working from home.
As you can see, by thinking about your own life, you can generate real ideas.
Just be careful not to make them too personal, as this will not allow you to demonstrate the wider point.

I have asked it because a teacher of mine taught me that, you can use it anywhere because examiner won't know about the university, I had practiced it a lot and I became used to it. Every time in mock whenever I use this thing and they give me 6/6.5 now I'm confused what to do.
Should I fully avoid it or is it okay for getting a score of 7-7.5?

Recently I appeared for my ielts exam on 22 October it was my second attempt although I received 6 bands overall not less than 6 but i required 6.5 overall to apply for masters in abroad.
And then I again booked mu exam. However this time i didn't received my exam. On the day of result I Received a mail that my result id hold for investigation.
This time i was sured that i cleared my exam but idp hold my exam and said the didn't believe on me that i gaved my exam on myself.
I request you to make a video on this scam of idp and try to tell them to release results of student because this is clear harassment that students are facing nowdays.
