I was rewacthing this movie today, I just love their friendship. He is a true friend for Buster not only to support him but to warning him too.
Yesss, Eddie is extremely underappreciated and I would've liked to see him in the second one. Especially with all buster went through, it would've been really good to see eddies reaction since no one in the movie really seemed to care or do anything
And Suki was kind of like Eddie, warning him as well. You know, I'd like to see Buster, Eddie and Suki as a trio with a dynamic similar to Fry, Bender (without the rudeness) and Leela.

I legit almost cried when I saw he wasn't in sing 2. He is Buster's best friend, and it broke my heart when he wasn't in it.
but Eddie is also in it, at the beginning of part 2 when Buster and Nana are talking to each other, there is the newspaper on the table in Buster's office, it is there on the front page, but I can't make out what is written on the front page, I saw this on Pinterest

Maybe because John C Reilly was busy
If Eddie is in the third film, here's a couple ideas what could be done with him: 1) He could inherit Nana's wealth if they decide to have Nana pass on by the time the third film's events come, and 2) If they give Buster a retirement plot (a la Cars 3), he and Suki should help him figure out where to go with his life from there

I understand why Eddie wasn't in the sequel (given they had so many new characters and needed the room to flesh them out), but I'm still sad they didn't even give him a cameo. 🐑💛🧡

Oh I noticed the photos in Sing 2! I tried to get a good look at them, but the screenshot wasn't good enough. 😅 I also tried to read Buster's audition notes (from when Johnny almost steals the chest) but the same again.
@@OcraStars righttt, I've always been curious about those because at the top it says "natural born singer" and it's highlighted, like he always knew johnny was a great performer and wanted him in the show. But originally he picked the giraffe, johnny got in because the giraffe was just too tall to work with. So I'm wondering if the giraffe was just better from busters perspective, or if the movie forgot that happened VWHSVS
@@k4den271 I did manage to read most of it. Johnny's basically says "Audition - excellent! Extremely talented, lacks concentration. Needs focus and discipline, try instrument - maybe guitar or piano" and that's as far as I could read.
Seriously though, can you imagine how different Johnny would have been if Buster got him to play guitar instead of piano?

Buster was lucky to have a friend like Eddie, But the fact that Buster tried to mooch off of Eddie and his family including Nana just proves that he didn't deserve a friend like Eddie. Because as we all know friends that try to mooch off of you are not real friends.
How come Eddie wasn’t in the second film? He was an important person to Buster Moon as well
Tbh I just think he didn't fit the story they were trying to tell, while I would've liked to see him come along they already have lots more characters than the first film to the point where it may feel clutered or that he's there without much purpose

I think it was the fact that buster had already sssigned her this partner and he was supposed to be a big deal in the city, along with the fact that meena probably didn't want to ask. And tbh I think they just didn't think about the logic of darius lifting her up in that scene and hoped everyone else would just accept it as well

Aside from Johnny, he’s my favourite character in the movie. Sure, he may be a bit lazy, cynical, sarcastic, and pessimistic, but he’s still a great friend. Like when he offered Buster to stay in his pool house after the Moon Theatre was destroyed and helped him with his car washing business. Plus, John C. Reilly did a great job voicing him. Even though all I hear is Wreck-It Ralph, it’s still a joy hearing his voice come out of an animated character. 😊👍🐑

The reason for Eddie’s absence in Sing 2 (2021) was because his only role in the Sing franchise was to be the only character outside the Moon Theater Family and Mrs. Crawley Buster Moon has the strongest bond with and can share his ideas and goals with and in a cynical and pessimistic point of view disapprove of them before finally approving of them at the end. The role was later taken by Suki Lane in Sing 2, because the animators and crew at Illumination considered her to be a more interesting character than Eddie due to being more of an anti-hero and jerk with a heart of gold with internal conflicts that goes on a redemption arc like Nick Wilde in Zootopia (2016) and make her relationship with Buster related to Nick and Judy’s in the Zooptoia franchise, (Despite also being similar to Flynn and Rapunzel’s in Tangled (2010) Poppy and Branch’s in the Trolls franchise and Fix-It-Felix and Sergeant Calhoun’s in the Wreck-It-Ralph franchise and presumably have like with Poppy and Branch’s in Trolls: World Tour (2020) the sequel to Trolls (2016) and presumably Nick and Judy’s in Zootopia 2 (2025) in Sing 3. Eddie no longer served a purpose in the Sing franchise so he was removed with no explanation though he might return alongside Mike and Nancy in Sing 3 correct?

It really is a shame that Eddie didn’t return in the sequel. I understand why, but he could have at least had like 5 minutes of screen time. Maybe he encourages Buster to go to Redshore City, which shows how much he’s grown since the first movie, as he’s no longer discouraging Buster and encouraging to quit.
