    I"m wondering if your planning on adding tiles to your backsplash to fill in the gap where the large size microwave fitted, hope you did buy extra tiles to store them for such un-expected modifications or repairs. If not you could probably tile in the gap with other types of tiles and make it look planed that way.

      I just had this microwave installed today. A ton of air comes out of the top left vent (and a bit leaks out elsewhere). It's setup to vent outside thru the ceiling. I called the tech that installed it back afterwards when I had a chance to try it, and he says it's just a bad design. The blower is powerful so it pumps air out of the cracks and poorly sealed vents. I think reduces the effectiveness of the venting. I tested mine by boiling water on the front burner and it doesn't pull the steam back a bit. I love the microwave itself, but I think I will be returning it.

    • @kempkennedy3542
      @kempkennedy3542 Před 2 lety

      No. You turn the fan position in the back of the microwave for front exhaust, top exhaust, or in my case... wall exhaust. It redirects the air to 1 of those 3 exhausts depending on your setup. I had to cut a hole in my wall to the exterior of my house to make a wall vent, which was beyond scary. But it works well and so I then redirected the fan to blow out of the back and now finally I don't have burnt or foul cooking smells lingering in my house as they just blow up to the cabinets from my stove top.

      @@kempkennedy3542 Thank you. Is there a pic that you may be able to share? I got a replacement microwave but the installer says there is no fan to rotate. So the air is still coming out thru the top front section of the microwave even after replacing the top plates.

    • @kempkennedy3542
      @kempkennedy3542 Před 2 lety

      @@jayeshacharekar So I misspoke about this microwave when I made that response. I had the microwave and cut the hole out, but hadn't installed the microwave yet. I had only watched videos on how to turn a fan in the microwave. Come to find out that this one does not have a fan you can turn.
      You do need to adjust it for the wall vent though. To do so, you have to play around with the 4 metal plates in the top front.
      If you have the microwave installed you can check that this was done correctly (per the instructions) by looking at the top and seeing they were done correctly. When facing the microwave, the leftmost vent should be solid on the left then have the vents on the right half. The next 2 should be solid. The one on the far right will be solid on the left half then have vent on the right half. This still lets some air out of the top (Whirlpool says it is for the light or something) but should now be directing most air out the wall.
      You can check that it is working (assuming you have the back wall vent) by simply turning on the fan and then going outside and feel for it blowing out or seeing the flap opened from the air.
      Hope this helps and sorry for the wrong info in my reply, but I got it truly installed now and it works great. Hope this helps!!!

    Just replaced my microwave with a low profile one. One note of caution is the depth is much deeper by 2” so it really protrudes out. So, it is not like my older one in that regard. Other than that, I like it. I think the manufacture needs to point that out so we consumers will take that into account. It seems like it would be the same replacing it with the same manufacturer but is not actually.

      Do you happen to know (or could measure yours if you still have it) the total depth of the microwave from very back to very front surface? Considering this microwave and the depth is important given our cabinets - Whirlpool lists the total depth as 18.0", so are you saying that it is closer to 20"? Thanks

    • @terilee3662
      @terilee3662 Před 4 měsíci

      @@N5Gunner It is 18” deep x 29 3/4” wide x 10 1/4” top to bottom. I have builder cabinets so it really sticks out. My brother kept bumping his head in it (he’s 6’) I really don’t like it at all; I have to get a stool to clean it it’s so deep. The settings are on the inside so very awkward and the print for cooking potatoes, etc. Is on the inside of the door (hope you have good eye sight it’s so small.) It weighs a ton much much heavier than my regular one I replaced it with! It was expensive ($500) I would not get it again; it’s what I call my white elephant buy. I plan on getting the regular one I had before for $199 when I paint my cabinets. The controls are on the outside and I can easily reach in the clean it and if curse 1/3 the weight! It was a bear to install. I saw a company trying to dump them for 100 a piece on offer- up ( or f/b marketplace gee I wonder why??? The fan works great… the replacement bulb is odd and a little difficult to get to…grrrr. When I wipe the outside I always turn the fan and light in just because it’s so sensitive. What a terrible design in my experience. I’d much rather have easy function over looks for sure.

    • @kempkennedy3542
      @kempkennedy3542 Před 2 lety +1

      There is no fan motor to turn on this microwave. Instead you have to play with the metal plates in the top front (via the instructions). When done, a very small amount of air will still come out the top, but the vast majority will be pushed to the wall vent or ceiling vent. To check the top was done correctly look at the 4 plates on the top front. The leftmost vent should be solid on left half, then vent on right half. The next 2 should be solid. The last is solid left, vent right.

      @@jafo68 the install tech from Lowe's was just at my house and said this cannot be done on this model of microwave and nothing they can do about the exhaust blowing out the sides and top of the microwave....so really it is recirculating and barely taking anything out the vent.

    I have had this microwave over a year. One HUGE CRITICISM that made me sorry that I have it. Because of the reduced height in the microwave IT IS VERY EASY TO KNOCK THE GLASS PLATE/TRAY OFF OF THE THRUST DRIVE PEDESTAL!
    I find this very irritating. Frequently having to realign the wheels in their shallow track and then replace the glass warming tray on the three pronged drive protruding out of the base.
    A poorly designed unit!
    I recently discovered two hacks which has helped immensely and thought I would share them.
    First, the wheeltrack.
    The Three little wheels MUST BE KEPT CLEAN, AND THE TRACK THE WHEELS RUN IN, ALSO! So be sure to clean the wheels and trackway well whenever cleaning the interior. (btw, a drop of olive oil, etc, on each wheel shaft is helpful.)
    The biggest hack that I can't believe just occurred to me, is glue the three pronged drive pedestal to the base of the glass warming plate!! This stabilizes the glass tray and all one has to do is lift the tray straight up an inch or so which removes the drive pedestal from the shaft it sits over. The drive shaft has one flat side that must be lined up properly when reassembling the glass plate with the glued on drive pedestal.
    THIS IS A MUCH MORE SECURE Arrangement and there are many less times the glass tray gets knocked off the pedestal. In fact, I haven't had any more problems with this hack and can easily lift the entire glass tray and glued on drive pedestal for cleaning.
    I used silicone adhesive I had around, but if it comes loose, I will be using epoxy or light activated super glue next.
    I hope this helps!
    BTW, Caveat Emptor. Use these ideas at your own risk, not mine.
