I have mixed feelings on the Bay ST after owning one for a few years: lightweight and easy to store or carry. Tracking and glide is just ok, but very susceptible to wind and current. Ok, the negatives: mine leaked and likely from the fold. I broke seat parts twice (they replaced), and the BIG negative is water gets into the corrugated plastic and doesn't drain well and it turns black with mold. I sold it and moved on to higher quality inflatables and glad I did. I recommend you rent one before buying as they are not for everyone. I've seen them at a REI return item sales days for $500. and that's a deal..if all the parts are in good working order. My opinion is that the Bay or Coast are not for beginners as setup can be frustrating. If you purchase one, make certain it's returnable as it maybe too complicated or perform less than you imagine. At this point, I would go with a full dropstitch inflatable kayak like an Advanced Elements Airvolution or a Sea Eagle RazorLite of which both perform VERY well.

Wow, stunning still shot around 7:23! I'm here trying to narrow down which Oru to buy. I'm new (have only Kayaked twice), but at these prices, I don't want a 'basic-basic' model that might leave me wanting more after my first summer with it. I'm comparing the Inlet, Beach, & Bay. We have a river running through our town where most of our paddling will be, but we'll want to take it for the occasional day trips to the shores of the Great Lakes (Lake Huron and Lake Erie). I'm short -- 5'2"/130 lbs, and my husband isn't very big either -- 5'9"/145 lbs. We both have the same newbie experience levels (we're each buying one). Any advice?
If you are mostly planning to kayak on protected waters like the Great lakes and calm rivers then any of them will realistically work. However if you want to kayak during bad weather or take it to the ocean or rough and choppy water then I would recommend the bay or the coast models with the addition of the float bags and a skirt to keep the water out.

(Say a windy day, a river- no wild one) or do you have to worry getting water inside the kayak? - Do you need to be more experienced to use the Bay? Because there is less stability and maybe other reasons? - Do you know what the quality of Oru kayaks is in comparison to other foldable kayak brands? - Oh and isn’t your butt getting really cold in autumn/winter? I mean the material is really thin so if the water is cold…
I think they are way overpriced for what they are. Sorry oru just because you look sleeker than competitors doesn't mean you can charge exorbitant price. I'll stick to my tucktec. Also this is supposed to be a ocean yak but to me it looks like water can get in the seams in harsh conditions.

I’ve been looking to get one and so far they seem pretty decent for what they are, though clearly not made for impacts… IOW one trades ruggedness for portability but that was about it. Sounds like the Bay is a good choice, more maneuverable on rivers.
Pretty nice.. the one that can hold my weight is 2K though.

Cockpit is tight and I'm 40" waist, the inlet is much more comfortable. The bay is faster, the inlet is very stable
I want one of those so bad! 48th birthday coming up… may have to invest.

Coast is the ocean going version. Bay is more for calmer water
