  • I couldn't be more pleasantly surprised about this Kayak. Surpassed all expectations. I see an ORU Kayak in my future.

      Ive heard of water getting between the plastic layers, have you had any issues with mold in there?

    • @SusiFroggyPorter
      @SusiFroggyPorter Před 8 dny

      @@TheHudsonValleyWanderer no. I did have one canal that had a tiny slit in one of the folds and water got in. I let the water drain. Waited a day or too then filled the opening of the chamber with clear silicone. Worked fine. 8 also make sure to dry it out before folding it back up

    I have this Kayak, and am so happy to get out on the lakes quickly and easily. I plan to illuminate it sometime at dusk, probably not in ice-water though! Good video.

    I’m an experienced 79 year old women kayaker who had medical issues and have one of these on the way. This is just what I need! Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for the great review. It was very helpful.

      @@rogerrogers9366 I did make some modifications that are helpful including a seat keeper latch found on Etsy that helps keep the back of the seat popping out which tends to do without it. Also I took the thinner pool noodles to add to the sides in the front cushioning the edges so I can drape my legs up when I want with comfort. I also bought a skeg that I could attach with double-sided nanotape and it has held quite nicely I also cut pieces of the pool noodle to place underneath the skeg as I'm setting it up so it won't bend. It glides through the water effortlessly with it and it can be placed to where you can still fold it without getting in the way. Last but surely not least I bought a silicone cushion since the seat that comes with it is not at all comfortable

    I totally agree with the above video. Great product! I have this model and really like it. It not purchase the additional floatation units however, and wished that I would have. I only mention this because I took the Inlet camping and the wind really picked up on day two. The little kayak plus all of my camping gear really struggled with the choppy water. Again, day one the there was no wind and it was beautiful. I decided to keep the kayak and purchase the additional floatation units. Again, I love this kayak and recommend it!

    I have and Aspire 105 at 48lbs. It was not inexpensive. I love it but weight just became too much. As you say “a full day slog.” You touched on every one of my concerns. But everyone who has reviewed this product as said at the start their favorable impression. So, I just pulled the trigger on the Inlet Model and feel pretty good about my decision. Still many good days of paddling left. Appreciate you!

    Almost every video on these kayaks are from people who were lent the kayak for a test review. And I notice all the testers who love it also never buy one themselves afterwards. But, I am also a van life person and know space is extremely limited and something like its is about the only option.

    I spoke with ORU customer service and was told they don’t suggest you use their product in cold weather. They said quote, “It will work fine in cold weather, but you should fold it “inside”.” This ruins it for any winter use in my mind.

    I didn’t know the inlet can survive the winter temperature? Toronto is getting colder soon and I thought it is almost end of my kayak seasons!

    Finally someone who uses the Oru in Winter! I am on the search for a Kayak I can use all year round. Is it comfortable seat wise? I am a beginner and want to get confidence during summer and the try winter paddling, of course with appropriate gear. Did any water go into the boat through the folds on top in calm white water? Also how was it to clean after in Winter?

    • @WanderingBeast
      @WanderingBeast  Před 2 lety +1

      Its cleans fine. I store it in my garage. I can more water from paddle drips.

    Very cool but I just can't see how the fold lines won't delaminate and fail over time with use. I guess that's the compromise over buying Ridgid. The idea is so cool, being able to go on adventures with a backpack. I've got an inflatable which is great but heavy.

    • @michaelsnook1130
      @michaelsnook1130 Před 9 měsíci

      It's rated for 20,000 folds, way more than one would do in a lifetime

      Yes but its still in open cockpit. The bay St im testing has a rim for a skirt for more challenging open water
