MOM-IN-LOVE IS MOVING IN (PART 2) | Vinyl Flooring & Countertop Installation + Moving Day

- Join us as we get the flooring and kitchen counter tops installed and welcome mom-in-love to her new home with us. There's still so many snags and things we need to get done, but thankfully her doors are in and she can function in the flat!
Flooring Information:
We installed Aspen Flooring's Canadian Oak vinyl with the painted bevel, laid in a random staggered pattern, paired with a 140mm white wood skirting board. Both the floors and skirtings were purchased from Millennium Floors & Blinds in Brackenfell, Cape Town.

We used aluminium end protectors in carpet bronze at all the edges where the floor met the tiles, or where there was a step. This was purchased from Wall & Window Concepts, who also did the prepping, screeding and installation of the flooring.

Countertop Information:
We had quartz counter tops installed in the colour 'Polaris', which is basically a plain white counter top. The sink was mounted underneath the top with 5 sloped grooves on the side to allow for drainage. Supply and installation done by Granite Perfect.

Why did you guys have to screed the floors before the vinyl flooring? Was the floor uneven? Is it because of the kind of vinyl they installed, did they glue it or was it the clip in vinyl?
It’s recommended to screed the floor before laying down vinyl, especially because this floor was cemented and patched. This was glue-down vinyl, and vinyl takes on the shape of the floor over the years, so you want to make sure that the floor is level and smooth, so it looks good for a long time. Hope that helps.
