  • What is Hinduism? How old is this religion? What is it's basis, the Vedas? What is the old Sanskrit language? How many gods are there? Is there one Supreme God in Hinduism like in Christiantity, Islam and Judaism? What is reincarnation & karma? What does Hinduism offer to environmental protection? Why so many Hindus are vegetarians? Is there only one "true religion"? Who has created the world? What is mantra meditation? Is there an eternal spiritual soul? Do I have to be Indian to practice Hinduism? Is there heaven & hell?

I’ve always had a true since of care and feeling towards our earth, animals, and humans and truly believed in a higher power even without claiming a religion and so to find Hinduism and seeing that everything Hinduism teaches be everything I’ve naturally already believed in my entire life, gives me so much peace in my heart and clarification to finally know that I am actually on the right path for ME. And yes, I would like to mention only one basic thing, which you should know that Sanatan Dharma is not polytheistic in nature. We believe in parabrahman and he took various forms, so those forms are not different, they are same. This means, we have one God, and he has different forms. It is nowhere like they all are different Gods.

I grew up Christian, i find the modern literal interpretation of the Bible to be very flawed and harmful, but i continued to be interested in theology.
Buddhism, islam, judiasm, they are all very interesting. Paganism, and other occult practices are also very interesting.
Hinduism stands out against all of them. Hinduism encourages you to begin your own spiritual journey no matter who or where you are. There are no strict rules of living that oppress the followers. It does not demand that you follow only Hinduism, it actually encourages you to go and seek answers wherever you feel youll find them. It lets you be Hindu and follow what ever other theologies alongside.
It also goes into great detail about the universe and beyond, whereas most focus on earth and 1 literal God.
Not to mention all of the many connections between our mind and body, all addressed and given practices and guides on how to strengthen this mind body spirit connection.
Hinduism really did figure out so much science that has been later proven. Yet it doesnt boast or demand that you follow. It is unlike any other way of being.

If you look in Ramayan Lord Ram ate fruits and that too after shabri ate half from them and shabri was from ST according to current scenario. So it's clear that there wasn't any lower or higher cast sistem in that time. All four categories in society at that time Bramhin Kshatriya Veshya Kshudra all are based on there work and they live happily with each other. All problem start from 900 years ago from now. When foreign invaders started attacking on us they thought that they won't succeed if they won't divide us so they started dividing us by saying that you are from higher cast and you are from lower cast and we stupid believed them and after that Britishers put ghee in fire, Britishers divided us more and more, no one did that much and after independence we all are with same mentality till now and governments and even people also not tried to unite us. Now we have to unite. No cast based sistem whatever will we needs to be based on Hinduism. it's just a matter of understanding. Sorry for my bad Eng. Hope you understand it. Hinduism is about several philosophies to suit everyone according to age, level of knowledge, gender, and life experience. Indians I have known are generally peaceful, adaptive people, curious and respectful about other cultures. This ongoing curiosity and constant questioning are probably the hallmarks of this fascinating religion.

Fun Trivia: In the Bhagavad Gita, the first word is "Dharma," which refers to the righteous way of living, and the very last word is "Mana," meaning "My" or "Mine." Essentially, the entire Bhagavad Gita, from its first word to the last, serves as a commentary on the concept of "Mana Dharma," or the laws and principles that govern one's personal life and conduct.

But its 500 years of Mughal's brutal invasion and britishers for 200 years.. Millions of people were brutally killed on the name of religion, millions were converted and thousands of ancient temples and whole culture was almost destroyed.. Further information: Women in Islam and Houri
Mary and Jesus in a Persian miniature
Islam is a monotheistic religion that was founded in the early seventh century by the prophet, Muhammad. The notion of a good life for a Muslim person is defined in Islam’s sacred text, the Quran, as well as the Hadith which are the direct teachings of Muhammad. Although these sources covered a lot, there were still some situations that were left to interpretation. Thus, Islamic scholars formed a consensus around a set of secondary sources, the most notable being the ijma, qiyas, ijtihad and fatwas. It is important to recognize that the Quran is not a static source with a fixed meaning but a dynamic, versatile one.[28]
Although the introduction of Islamic principles was a step in the right direction, men kept the dominant position and women were required to be obedient to their husbands, fathers, and sons. This was less due to the teachings of the religion than to the cultural norms of the era in which it arose. Before Islam became so widespread, people of the Middle East lived in households in which women were seen as the property of their husbands and were only meant to perform household tasks, ultimately dehumanizing them.[29]
Islam also gave some recognition to women’s rights by regarding men and women as equals in their ability to carry out the wishes of Allah and the teachings of Muhammad.[30] The three main things which sharia law introduced were a women’s rights to marriage, inheritance, and divorce. It also limited the oppressive privileges of men by restricting polygamy, limiting men to marrying a maximum of four women only, and requiring the husband to take care of each wife equally and properly.[31] Marrying more than four wives is the right only of certain men in powerful positions. Muhammad himself had several wives, marrying some who were widows to give them a home and protection.
Muslims must observe the five pillars of Islam: praying five times a day, fasting during the month of Ramadan, making a pilgrimage to Mecca, donating to charity, and accepting Allah as the only God and Muhammad as Allah's prophet. Women have restrictions on praying in public, given instead separate private spaces. Also women are not permitted to pray during menstruation as they are not considered clean. If women are pregnant or nursing during the month of Ramadan, they do not need to keep the sunup to sundown daily fasts .[29] Segregation of men and women in Islamic centers gives Muslim women the right to work independently and not under men.
Due to their isolation, it became the responsibility of the ummah, or Muslim community, to pass down the customs and traditions that mold a Muslim women's life. This guidance, sharia, and Islamic scripture outlined the structure for her education, employment opportunities, rights to inheritance, dress, public appearance, domestic 'duties', age of marriage, freedom to consent to marriage, marriage contract, mahr, permissibility of birth control, divorce, sex outside or before marriage, ability to receive justice in case of sex crimes, property rights independent of her husband, and when salat (prayers) are mandatory for her.[32]

@@shubhamdubey9561 You can not say that if you know the story of Lord Balaji marrying a Muslim woman named Bibi Nancharamma, who was the daughter of a general named Malik Kafur in 1311 AD. Till today Muslims worship lord Balaji in Tirupati but also follow their religion.
There are Christians who worship Christianity yet follow Hinduism is a great way.
Each and every religion tells you one thing - how to attain Moksha(to freedom) in righteous way. Every religion, even Hinduism tells you that god is only one. It is just the way you worship them is what the difference is. But people because of their selfish motives, they are altering and adopting the holy books in their own way by forcing, converting, torturing and killing without understanding the actual meaning.
We worship Gurus(teachers) as god too. Why? because they teach us about life and gives us knowledge. So there is no fault in respecting and worshiping others just because of some of those cruel minded people's selfish motives who are manipulating in killing and other wrong doings.
I have seen people who worship their religion yet the tremendous respect they have for other religions because of the great knowledge they teach. Look at our Indian Army. If they think like you, we as common people may have died long back without living our present peaceful lives and here commenting.
      Let us consider some facts.
-Did any religion teaches us to rape(or gang rape) an innocent 4 year old(girl or boy)? - NO (but we like like to blame the girl victims because of their dressing even though that is not the reason as majority rape cases are of children that are less than 10 year old or above 50 year old. But we wont accept that.)
-Did any religion teaches us to kill the innocent?- NO
-Did any religion teaches us to kill an innocent animal and eat a living being? - NO (especially Hinduism never teaches you to kill an animal to eat but we do not follow that one thing because we like the taste of chicken, mutton, prawns, etc, etc... and criticize the vegetarians)
-Did any religion teaches to discriminate genders like male is more powerful than female? -NO (but what we do is discriminate the one who gave us birth without realizing that without them we have no chance of living on earth in the first place to live and die.)
-Did any religion teaches that money is more important than a human life? - NO
But it is the mindset of a human that changes perspective of things. So tell me why cannot any one worship both or more at the same time when none of the religion is teaching us the above mentioned and many more horrendous things that the selfish minded people in every religion that have those ulterior selfish motives that create those horrendous things?

In my humble opinion, the most important subject matter in the Bhagavad Gita is the concept of Renunciation-
It is such an important aspect of Yoga, and of Joy- and is very important in our day to day and even minute by minute choices we are presented for growth, and liberation.
    Chapter 5- in part;
...” Therefore, to act for sense gratification is not good. One is considered to be a failure in life as long as he makes no inquiry about the nature of work for fruitive results, for as long as one is engrossed in the consciousness of sense gratification, one has to transmigrate from one body to another. “
Renunciation/ Fruitive Works is the key for those new to The Bhagavad Gita to grasp the difference between the path of Joy, and the path of Pleasure- and where those lead the soul.
When one contemplates Renunciation in relation to Fruitive Actions,
    Krsna consciousness, Jnana,
Therein lies the key to the beginning of the path to quiet consciousness-
    Of oneness,
    Of Yoga.

@@AS235DIyou have problems with native people representing themselves accurately according to their religious texts?? Do you even know where these "words" come from? do you think somebody is sitting somewhere and creating these words? Don't fool yourself, we don't care what you grew up around and what your beliefs were, you don't tell us what to call ourselves. We are HINDU and we are sanatani HINDU, a hindu which is connected to their roots knows this, a hindu which has read their texts knows this, we don't care if you don't know and people around you don't know. We don't care if it's not "convenient" enough for you to understand and accept Sanskrit words.

@@AS235DIwhy? What’s your agenda regarding your dislike for discovering our original name for our religion and country. If people are so confused by Sanatana and Bharata then that’s a case of very low IQ indeed.
