  • For our second adventure in Missouri, we drove a few hours from St. Louis to the central part of the state to visit Ha Ha Tonka State Park and camp at Lake of the Ozarks. We saw old castle ruins, beautiful springs, and tried a few more St. Louis food items that we didn’t have the stomach space for the day before.

Safety is our #1 priority and we want to stress that this adventure, and all future adventures, will be done responsibly and with the health of others in mind. Here are the steps we are taking everyday, including in these videos:
😷Masks and face coverings. We wear these anytime we are near others outside and especially indoors. If we don’t have a mask on in a video, it’s 99% because there was no one around.
⏰ Exploring early. We normally start at sunrise anyway because of less crowds, but especially so with COVID. We have been starting our days before sunlight so we can limit our interactions.
🧼 Washing and sanitizing our hands, especially after touching anything outside of the van.
🚐 Being in the van 95% of the time when we’re not filming. The adventures we share are a small sliver of our lives. We are staying in the van all day everyday when working and the only time we leave is to do laundry, get gas, or go to the store.
6️⃣ Keeping our distance. We are trying to stay at least 6 ft from others, which truthfully isn’t always possible (and then we make sure we cover our face).

@Adventures of A plus K I've loved watching these videos on St. Louis and the Ozarks from a visitor's perspective, it's so cool. Missouri gets overlooked a lot, but we have so much beauty here! Excellent hiking all over the Mark Twain National Forest as well as the Ozarks. Branson is my second home and its gorgeous down there as well. When you are in Missouri next time, go to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. I think that is the prettiest part of our state. There you can check out all the springs like Big Spring, Blue Spring, Alley Spring and Mill, Welch Springs, Greer Spring, and falling spring and mill. Echo Bluff State Park is cool. Rocky falls Shut-ins is pretty. You can float the current river or the other ones that are all spring fed. You might see wild horses too! :)
I would also check out Johnson Shut-ins or Castor River Shut - ins, Taum Sauk Mountain Trail or Buford Mountain Trail, and Elephant Rock. All of this are close by each other. On the way to these places, you can go to Bonne Terre Mine.
Meramec Springs State Park is one of my favorite places.
This is kind of off the beaten path, but Caney Mountain conservation area is pretty too.

Really cool find with this state park. Looked like a beautiful area and killer campsite! I have never heard of it before. Marked it down on my list for future considerations if our travels take us through Missouri again.
We have not spent much time in Missouri. Really just St. Louis and then our drive through the southern part of the state in order to get to Arkansas. We did stop at Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. What is it with these park names in Missouri? It was a pretty neat park, like a natural water park. Envision a boulder field in a river. You can climb around and swim in it depending on the water levels. They do offer life jacket rentals as well. Definitely recommend this place.
Although our time was limited, from what I saw and what I have seen online, there does not seem to be a shortage of beautiful spots. Top of my list would be a canoe trip down the Current River.

It’s even more beautiful during Spring and Summer. My husband and I were married there 23 years ago. You could walk all around because there was no barrier then. We were married on the side facing the cliff side and it was beautiful. In the morning, the fog will rest on among the tree tops. The water beneath is almost turquoise. There are a ton of caves in the area.

I just found you guys on previous episode in my home town and after I commented and subscribed I scrolled and your at HaHaTonka too cool ! In my comment in STL episode I said I haven't vacationed much out of Mo. Because I haven't seen all to see here Ha Ha Tonka is one of those. Funny You picked up Ted Drews on the way out and which many said but some local told you about Pork Steaks before I did ! Both you two said your not fans of caves but You would like Meremac Caverns just west of STL about 45 min . Via I-44 it's huge super high ceilings w/ giant stalagmites a huge wishing pond that patrons toss coins in and in the Mo. Hot summer heat it's like 65 deg. ...... Nice pea gravel beach to hang out and wade in the river and private campground . Campsites too close but State Park only a few miles away . As Jed Clampiit always said Y'all come back and see us again Ya hear ✌️💜🎸

I think the people talking about provel being an acquired taste are referring to it on pizza. The slight tangy flavor and hint of smoke are very different than what most people are used to with mozzarella. The texture is different too once it's melted.
Pork steaks are good just grilled like that, but best when either smoked like ribs or just seared and finished simmering in sauce at low temp. When done this way they turn out with a texture similar to well cooked ribs, only much easier to eat (and cheaper).
All that said, it looks like you two are having a fun time on your trip and it's good to see people still getting out and travelling even with everything else going on.

Missouri is full of springs, especially in the Ozark area. So your heading to Arkansas? Are you going through Branson? Or, parts of Route 66? Lots of beautiful rolling hills and mountains in southern Missouri and northern and central Arkansas. Is Hot Springs National Park on the list? Great video👍👍👍. Jam rolly polly... you have it with custard, spotted dick... you have it with custard. Apple pie and custard, fruit crumble and custard, sticky toffee pudding and custard, treacle sponge and custard, bread and butter pudding and custard.... hot custard is just the best! What do you guys eat Christmas pudding with, just brandy sauce/butter? Y'gotta have custard with it! ❤️
