If they really want it up to the states like marijuana, it should have been a ballot question.
Republicans have already slipped in language "actions by the legislature"
So for instance activists can have enough signatures to put the ballot on the ballot and the Republican legislature can find some little excuse to say no.

The world wide inflation was caused by increased demand from many businesses needing time to get back to normal production numbers after Covid. This, in combination with higher demands as a result of many people and businesses having postponed certain types of purchases, created the rising inflation. The U.S. actually have reduced it's inflation rate and improved it's economy faster than almost all other countries of the world. And this despite the U.S, because of increased demand in combination with too few lorry drivers and harbour access, had a time where ships were lining up to unload, and goods were delayed getting to the consumers because capacity on the harbours and on road transpartion were much higher than could be accomodated. Buttigieg and the Biden administration got that to function again, and that, along with other measures, managed to reduce the inflation rate. Which again, thanks to that and incentives to locate green manufactureing to the U.S, made the U.S. the fastest growing and strongest economy in a time where every economy has struggled with high inflation.

However, once Biden opened up the country, Big Oil saw its opportunity to make up for the revenue it lost during COVID-19. Those price hikes in oil prices and gas, are passed down to the supply chain transportation of goods, food, and they pass that down to the consumer. It's like a domino effect. In the end, the consumer pays the price.
