  • There have been countless GREAT teams throughout NBA history. But NONE of them were built with cowardice and collusion until LeBron James decided to take his talents to South Beach. "The Cowards Way" is a comprehensive analysis of team building in NBA history and why LeBron's was the FIRST ever super team.

      There's a long list of NBA legends who either voluntarily left their team or were traded away by their team, such as Kareem, Barkley, Chamberlain, Drexler, Shaq, Walton, Oscar Robertson, Malone, Olajuwan, etc. And these moves came long before Lebron. Loyalty among NBA teams has always been a one-way street. Players can and should make decisions based on what they want.

Many credit him with being the only player to win 3 chips with 3 different teams but that's not the flex they think it is because each time LeBron moved around it was with yet another collection of stars in their prime.
    For the record, LeBron is one of the greatest to ever play the game but he'll never, EVER be the GOAT and once you begin to contextualize his career, as this video does so brilliantly and beautifully, the cracks begin to surface.

      He's not even close to being one of the greatest to play the game. Not even in the top 50 in my opinion. And I don't think he would win more than 1 ring without building a super team. His true character is the man you see flopping on the floor for minimal to no contract at all. Whining and crying for fouls like a child. Shutting down and absolutely quitting on his team mid playoff run. When he quit on the Cavs and stopped playing all together in his first stint, I think he realized he wasn't as good as everybody told him he was. That's why he quit. That's why he left. He's not a killer. He's not a shark. He's weak minded. Show me an all-time great with a weak mindset, with a quitting attitude. I'll wait. He only plays well when he's around an all-star cast. When his team depends on him, he folds, every time. There's a YT video called Mj Vs Lebron goat debate on DANGERProductions channel. It's well worth the watch. He has longevity and super teams, but there's nothing really super about him.

      @@skap_attack LeBron's big weakness was as a general manager. He meddled too much with personnel, particularly with the Cavs and Lakers. MJ, for instance, had the benefit of Jerry Krause obtaining players like Scottie Pippen, Ho Grant, Dennis Rodman, Bill Cartwright, and shooters for the triangle. Bird had Red. Magic had Jerry West. Splash Brothers had West and Steve Kerr. Other greats had better teams - and mainly it was LeBron's own fault. You are dead wrong about the players right to protest. There are countless incidents of black college athletes being hassled by police. I have identified myself as a licensed attorney and have been hassled over nothing. I shudder to think what it would have been like if I had been black. Like HOF second baseman Joe Morgan having his head slammed into the floor at LAX. Do the protests hurt the NBA? Yes, with embittered white people. Does LeBron's vulgar behavior hurt? His lack of sound judgment and taste have eroded his standing in history. Side note, it was 2006 when wade and lebron told melo to sign shorter 2nd nba contract so they’d all be free agents together in the sum of 2010. Melo signed longer deal with the nuggets which is why Bosh got the call. So in the summer of 2006 lebron was already planning to team up with stars down the road. 2006 was lebron’s first year making the playoffs. The heat won the title that year. Yet lebron was already planning to team up. So it wasn’t losing to the spurs in 07 or the Celtics in 08. He already had that planned out. It also destroys the narrative that the cavs wouldn’t get him help. He had 4 years to convince wade and Bosh to come to Cleveland. He couldn’t. I mean who’s picking Cleveland over a city like Miami. This is why the media never likes to tell this side of the story. If people realize that whole decision thing was fake and he already made up his mind in 2006, that would destroy the narrative

The warriors got KD as a fuck you to the entire league and front office for rigging the series, so they said, try and rig it against us now, and refs tried, but only had success 1 time during the entire rivalry with KD, and that's when they gave the cavs 20 something first quarter free throws. That's the only time LeBron beat the KD led warriors. The Jordan' lead Chicago Bulls.
    The Bird' lead Boston Celtics.
    The Thomas' lead Pistons.
    The Robinson / Duncan lead Spurs(s)
    These teams and captains are a selection that represents TEAM BUILDING. They became champions not because "Super Teams" with superstars who goes to win because they can't work or have faith in there own teams, but champions because they built there team(s) from the very ground with smart/carefull draft selections and smart trades of miss-placed/under-used tallents that was ready to go big.
    NEVER did Jordan, Bird or Thomas walk up to GM and wined and cried they need lots of help. They KNEW that was not dignified or professional but put faith in there team players and coatches to do what they could to win.
    And Bulls & Pistons are teams that had carried a long history of FAILURES and losing. But then they both came around to change all that and through solid teambuilding and hard work both teams developed to become not only champions, but GREAT champions!

    Video’s logic: “Sure, other teams added HOF players to win rings. But some of them were young. And some of them were old.” Dude, Bosh was just decent - LeBron joined Wade, his friend from the Redeem Team… big deal. The Celtics put together a clear Super Team with KG, Pierce and Allen before that. So did the Rockets with Olajuwon, Barkley, Pippen and Drexler. As did the Lakers when they added (old) Malone and Payton to Kobe and Shaq. LeBron joining the mediocre Heat wasn’t such a problem. The hype around it was annoying and caused people to be big mad. LBJ was ill-advised (likely by his agent) to do that - but still, the worst thing you can say about the guy is that he did a self-aggrandizing announcement interview … which happened to raise millions of dollars for charity. JFC. Man, some ppl’s reaction to The Decision and James as a person/player is emotional garbage.

      One of my first basketball memories was seeing a headline of the Admiral (David Robinson) vs the Worm (Rodman). Worm was a well-earned nickname. On the other hand, the one good thing he did was defense. He got lots of rebounds and that let the others focus on offense.

      None of this is true. Rodman was coming off two great DPOY level seasons. He called out Robinson and Pop for letting Hakeem have his way with them during the playoffs. San Antonio was tired of his justified criticism. The moment Rodman arrived in Chicago, I knew they were winning.

    • @thecensoredmuscle563
      @thecensoredmuscle563 Před 10 měsíci +3

      @shlidgn90 "justified criticism", how were they supposed to beat Hakeem, Clyde Drexler, Big Shot Rob (Horry) hitting game winners that very series vs spurs, Maxwell, Kenny the Jet, Cassel etc when all Spurs had was basically Robinson. Getting Rodman was a terrible decision. Spurs needed an offensive player to get the double and triple off of Robinson, Hakeem had that privilege, Robinson did not. Instead they got Rodman who can't score or do anything besides rebound. Rodman being trash on offense is a huge reason why spurs lost in playoffs. Funny thing is that they still would have probably won that series if not for Robert Horry being Mr. Clutch for Houston.
      Bulls it worked out, since they didn't even really need Rodman anyways lol. Plus they had 2 big scorers instead of 1 so they could benefit by using rodmans rebounds.

    • @sotiriosdrokalos
      @sotiriosdrokalos Před 10 měsíci +7

      @@shlidgn90 You're wrong. Rodman was a great rebounder and defender also in San Antonio but he had huge personality, temper, and mental problems. He went even missing and they were looking for him for days, lost in a vagon. There were rumours about him having suicidal tendencies, and everybody had heard about drugs and alcohol. The Bulls worked hard for keeping him relatively calm, with very heavy exercise to consume his energy and clear his mind, as Phil Jackson wrote, MJ himself hanging around with him, they hired his buddy as a player to sit in suit on the bench and cheer for him, and of course the clapping tactic to control his range in order to remain in the game. Then, in LA, Shaq said Rodman was the worst teammate he ever had, and nobody liked him in Dallas too. The Bulls needed a power forward after Horace Grant left, and that was the only reason they took that risk with the worm. Nobody knew they were winning. We all expected to see if that move could be succesful, and most importantly if Michael would be able to return to his previous condition, for the Bulls to have a shot at the title against Orlando, Houston and the others. What happened was beyond Bulls fans hopes and dreams.

      To be in GOAT consideration you have to be a leader. He’s a great athlete, but he can’t lead his team like almost every other GOAT candidate could. The best role for him would actually be one like Pippen or Stockton, where he could do his thing without worrying about how to lead his team.

      FALSE..The way yall just blatantly lie and make up ridiculous narratives just to defend LeBron is pathetic...The Bull's 2nd championship most definitely was NOT a superteam. The Bulls were a 5th seed that loss in the 2nd round in 1995 and added Dennis Rodman, who was a player that had a disastrous ending in San Antonio and no other team wanted..NOBODY just knew the Bulls were gonna win 72 games and a championship so stop lying..Comparing Dennis Rodman (who wasn't an all star) to the players that LeBron joined (and still LOST TWICE with) in Miami is pure stupidity...

      I disagree, Gasol was good but he’s no Dirk, Duncan, or Chris Bosh. Gasol was also a liability on defense, people believe Gasol was better than what he was when he joined the Lakers. But in all honesty Gasol shined more on the Lakers due to Kobe and Phil Jackson pushing him to new heights in his game. They also ran the triangle through him and Kobe, so he was forced to be a scorer. Aside from that Gasol is a all-star that peaked late and washed after he reached a certain level. I can’t say that for a player like Tim Duncan or even Dirk to an extent. Those guys lead teams to the finals themselves, Pau didn’t reach the finals until he was paired with Kobe.

    Great work as always! I believe Wilt had surgeries on both his knees by the time he went to the Lakers(?). I believe Kareem demanded a trade to the Lakers or Knicks b/c Milwaukee wasn't his cup of tea. He missed the playoffs year 1, then got swept by Walton. Then they got Wilkes, Nixon and Dantley. So from there had a good team. Lost in the 1st round to Sikma, Gus and DJ Sonics. Added Cooper-lost again to the Sonics. Then the rest is history after Magic saves his career. Kareem and Bron's careers parallel very well in how they had big stats, but couldn't do anything without a stacked team.

    What LeBron started was not 3+ top players coming together, it was players conspiring to get together at some franchise as if they were going out for dinner before either winning the championship or demanding ridiculous trades 1-2 seasons later. GMs and coaches basically became meaningless, mere instruments to fulfill the stars' wishes. You could argue that Bill Russell never won a championship by himself, but that team was built by the Celtics' GM and coached by the Celtics' coach. LeBron's superteams were built by LeBron and (largely) coached by him too.
