I always thought first, second and third bases should be flush with the ground the way home plate is. I have seen lots of players get hurt on the bases.
I honestly disagree, if they're flush with the ground you don't get that push off and it's awkward, plus there's a greater chance to slip and fall
Irish plus it would would make it so infielders would have to pay more attention to where the base is, rather than going off the instinct of knowing the general area the bag is in and getting a foot on it
