Six months ago, New Zealand was rocked by a devastating terrorist attack - a massacre at two mosques in Christchurch which claimed the lives of 51 people. The government moved quickly to overhaul the country's gun laws and as part of a nationwide buyback scheme, New Zealanders have until December 20 to hand over their weapons. While the reforms have won widespread support, they've also sparked anger among some licensed gun owners, such as hunters and farmers. Our correspondents report.

Looking through the release documentation it's rather interesting to see that for the 2020 period and the 2021 period, the categories aren't all the same. In fact, the categories as a whole aren't logical. They don't divide the firearms into common designations. It's almost as if there's an agenda to make it look like they got more dangerous things than they did 'cause some areas that should have a definite definition are barely defined whilst something that should be under one category is split into other forms. It's all depressingly badly done.
