  • I've recently started using Premiere Pro at home. Still very much a learning curve, so please let me know if you think the video?
    Tour Rome Avanti 0:00
Starting off with another tour city track, which I am pretty sure has been the case for every wave? It's probably a good thing this is the last wave, because all of the tour city tracks are starting to feel too similar to drive. As I've said every update at this point, the city tracks don't feel like they really work in deluxe. This one is fine. Can't really say how accurate it is, as I have never been to Rome. But it did remind me a little bit of when I went to Sicily as a kid. The music does not suit it at all.
    GCN DK Mountain 2:39
Out of all the GCN tracks to expect to return, this was probably one of the least. Can't personally say I am overly thrilled. The uphill, cannon, and mountain sections look and feel very unappealing to me. But the downhill to the bridge isn't too bad (but still a bit awkward on 200cc). Just when I thought Nintendo were starting to come around to unintentional shortcuts, they fenced off the gap cut on the second to last turn. Although, looking back at the recording, it looks like it might still be possible?
    Wii Daisy Circuit 5:56
Even with my editing preoccupying me from so much, I still could not avoid seeing this track. A lot of people seem happy to see it again, and I would be too… If it wasn't scaled too big! Personally, I don't like the road texture, it's a little too blue to me. The tile texture also doesn't work perfectly in the figure of 8 section. and I have no idea why or how someone thought to put a fucking ramp after the tunnel! But other than that, it still feels like Daisy Circuit. The original soundtrack will always have an unrivalled place in my heart, but this version is gorgeous in its own right.
    Tour Piranha Plant Cove 8:43
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised by this track. As far as Tour tracks go, this one's design and ascetic seem fairly unique. I feel like underwater levels haven't been explored too much in the DLCs? Quite honestly, if Dolphin Shoals was more open and expanded on like this, then it would probably be one of my favourite tracks. Considering that this is a tour track, it almost makes me feel like the people that made Dolphin Shoals didn’t like the track either.
    Tour Madrid Drive 11:38
I can’t say too much about this track in comparison to irl Madrid, having not been there myself. But I did have a bit of a wanderlust for Spain during the lockdowns, and follow a few people that live there. From that alone, I can’t really say it reminds me much of Madrid, apart from the blistering sun. At this point there is just too much that looks like it could be or is from another Tour city track, as well as I keep saying the City tracks don't feel like they really work in deluxe. The music suits the track a little better than Rome Avanti’s and sounds somewhat Spanish, but not as much as I think it could.
    3DS Rosalina's Ice World 14:28
Another track that I am personally not too thrilled to see, but I also don’t dislike that it is here as much as a lot of friends and people I know. The spiral/halfpipe section before the underwater section still feels awkward af! If there is anything they could’ve honed in on to redesign, it should’ve been that. It does feel like the ending spiral has been redone though, which is half a bonus I guess. Otherwise, it feels mostly the same as the 3DS version to me. The visual overhaul works pretty well!
    SNES Bowser's Castle 3 17:25
I was sceptical of this track to start off with, and my first impressions weren’t that great either. To me it looked like it was another victim of becoming “MK8ified” and I personally didn’t enjoy my first race. But upon playing it for my GPs, I came around to it fairly quickly! Particularly on 200cc, that was a lot of fun! It almost gives me a similar feeling to playing a MKWii custom track for some reason (back when that was still good).
    Wii Rainbow Road 20:05
Probably another one of the most anticipated DLC tracks to come to this game, and another one I was sceptical of. Like with all of the Wii tracks so far, I feared that this was also going to be scaled too big. Considering that the original Rainbow Road is arguably already like that, that would’ve been a massive (pardon the pun) problem! Fortunately, it wasn’t, and as a matter of fact I’d actually say this has been scaled better than the original in some places. Overall, it is fine. Definitely in the better half of Rainbow Roads in Deluxe. Not personally a fan of the extra barriers they put up round the track. Kinda feels like they’re baby proofing it in a way. Keeping the original falling off burn up animation was interesting, I had to fall off again to see it. But the more I played the track, the more annoying this became. Like Daisy Circuit, The original soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart, but this version is great in its own right.
