    Turntablism started dying after 2002.

Tuntablism died when everyone who was obsessing about doing turntable tricks, got behind the table and realized they can do it too - so around 1997 was the peak saturation before Serato with the consumerism - kids getting their own turntables... Very few tricks take any degree of difficulty.. but a true dj should be able to use real vinyl without digital assistance. When have you seen DJ Jazzy Jeff break out a new technique or scratch? None since the Transform which wasn't even his in 1986.. DJ Craze doesn't do anything 'new' he just does it like he's on crack.

There are some routines that the average person probably couldn't master. Q-bert's second routine in the solo battle between the Piklz and the X-Men springs to mind. Also Tony Vegas' 'Work the Angles' juggle at the '98 UK DMC Final, when he had the fader in Hamster mode, gave me a headache when I first watched it.

What's Sugarcuts up to nowadays? I remember 10/11 years ago, when he used to post on a forum that I went to, he was selling watches that looked like little turntables.

I believe he is still making them flud watches and re-estabish tableturns in some way.

Oh Tableturns is coming back? That would be great. The scene really needs something like that. I'd like to get in contact with Sugarcuts, about finding some copies of a magazine he used to write for, back in the mid-'90s, called Subculture. There were only 5 issues released, but it was probably the best Hip hop magazine I've ever read, I've only got one issue, and it featured a report of the first ITF World Final, written by Neil Armstrong. Is Sugarcuts on twitter?
