  • Smartphone brands love to play tricks on us sometimes. They come up with things that often don't matter as part of your experience with a smartphone, but they sure know how to make you feel like they are super important.
    In this video I call out a few of those things and help you understand what certain smartphone terminologies and specification really mean when brands and we CZcamsrs mention them in our video.

      Using the phone while it is being charged. It is inconvenience caused during calls. Many TWS buds are simply not good enough for calling unless you're buying a premium pair of earbuds. Audio lag while watching videos or gaming is also an inconvenience. Plus, the additional features that they promised for removing the earphone jack was not really promised. For the features that we do have could have also been provided by keeping the jack.

      I'm using 25w samsung charger, and I dont see the hype around charging at all.
      Sometimes you really need it
      But most times you don't, and people don't go change the setting every time. Could be worse for the battery as well.
      You have sockets on bikes and cars anyways. And you have sockets elsewhere to charge too.
      To me, im surprised the camera is even improving in flagship phones in the first place, otherwise i don't really see how s24 is so much better than the s10 or how the new iphone 15 pro max or 16 next year will really be that much of a stop forward compared to the iPhone 11.
      Most stuff is in software now too, and even that seems to be stagnating.

    Excellent video, Mobi. I agree completely with what you're saying. I plug my phone in every night, so charging speed doesn't matter. And I don't understand wireless charging; is plugging in a cable once a day really that much of a burden? I'm no Ansel Adams, so I don't need a super fancy camera. You can buy an 8K TV here (for about $10K) but nobody makes 8K content, so you'd only be watching your own videos. I am rarely, if ever, in a situation where I can't see my screen because the sun is too bright. And if it is, I live in a city, not a desert, there's always some shade available somewhere.
    If I wanted to be dazzled by BS and pay 10x what a phone is worth, I'd buy an iPhone.😁

      Hey, iPhone's ProRres and Samsung's 8K video are completely different things. ProRes is about capturing more dynamic data while shooting videos while 8K is just a higher resolution recording format. ProRes footage is more flexible considering the dynamic data involved - and so it can be color corrected to look a certain way that the editor requires. 8K on the other hand is meant for higher resolution playback - that's all.

I wish there was an option to have a mini led display on smartphones so the issues like burn in will be eliminated permanently. the megapixel part isn't a scam. actually in pixel binning technology, it helps a lot if you have more pixels to bin meaning you have a cleaner shot plus stacked hdr and secondly more pixels mean you can record 8k videos. finally, its especially great when you want landscape/architectural shots that require lots of detail.

      I am not saying that the use case does not exist. But it's just isn't something that many people will use. Millions buy a phone and not 0.1% of them will ever tap that 8K button or even know about it. But do note - the R&D cost that is part of the retail price will be borne by all customers. All I'm trying to say is that for those rare 0.1% of users who will sometimes use a single feature, it doesn't make sense to increase the cost for the bulk of the users.

    I prefer a curved screen and can't stand a flat phone. I don't even know why this is still a conversation point.
    You know, flat phones have accidental touches as well.
    Apple paid a lot of people to degrade anything and everything that's not an iPhone. Think about it for a min.

    • @mobiscrub
      @mobiscrub  Před 6 dny +1

      The issues I described with curved displays are genuine. Accidental touches can happen with flat, but there are more probable with curved. It's also a fact that you don't find as many tempered screen protectors, they are more likely to crack on a fall and they do reflect glare on the sides. These issues are much less pronounced with flat displays. It doesn't mean people can't prefer curved displays for how nice they feel in hand and how good they look... But functional issues like the ones i described are real
