  • The tagline "just slightly ahead of our time" is even funnier when the product being advertised is a VCR you can program via pay phone.

      ive seen some that do, there's a phone jack on the back of it where you plug your phone line in, and then you can call your phone number and the vcr picks up, and thats how you control it

    I never found programming my 1985 Betamax very hard. I actually found VCR+ to be harder because you had to punch in the exact number and sometimes with all the narrow rows of shows and channels you can accidentaly mess up. It still is a good idea, but once you lose your remote, you're screwed.

    Panasonic, bring the old slogan back ("Just slightly ahead of our time"). The newer one is much worst. I'll be getting a Panasonic 3DO, a Panasonic Omnivision VCR, a Philips CD-I or a TurboGrafx-16 gaming system in the near future.

    you can program it with your phone? holy crap that is cool! there are plenty of times where I have left the house and forgot to record something , and I would think about how cool it would be to call my vcr and set it to record from the keypad.

    I have this commercial in my collection somewhere. Program with a touch tone phone? I guess it works like my Panasonic pure cassette answering machine (digital answering machines and voice mail suck) call your phone number press your 2 digit code and # and a menu prompts you from there of course you have to hook your VCR to a phone jack like with Dish or Directv. I am still trying to find one that works on ebay.

    • @supermasterPIK
      @supermasterPIK Před 4 lety

      At THE TIME, al least in our 1989 VCR,
      (no OSD)
      you had to
      open the small lid
      Push Timer
      number of event starts flashing on display
      push "DAY" until event appears
      push SET and use + and - buttons again to set hour
      the same for minutes
      PUSH "Check" , will show what was programmed
      If no tab on tape, will eject it and "timer" will flash.
