LISTEN! If your hair is bone straight with no curl you can RECOVER!!! it may take a lot of time but it wil. Try doing twist outs and deep conditioning. I AM LIVING PROOF I went from bone straight to waves to now I have curls but still some heat damaged pieces.. it is POSSIBLE btw I love happycurhappygirl I finally found a youtuber with my type of curls !

Interesting I went through the same and still going through it. I would only get it straight once a month fall and winter then spring and summer do twist out. Then last year I got my hair straighten less and just did flat twist and crochet braids. I’ve gotten straight since then twice but before then I had this massive hair growth that I didn’t even realize it . Now my hair is no longer bone straight and curly at the roots but now I’m getting some curl back still have some damaged but it’s a work in progress.

You just gave me hope. I straightened my hair a month now for the first time since going natural five years ago, it's been a month and my curls aren't back, makes me so sad, I don't want to cut it, it grew so much since my big chop. I'm going to take my time and hole I get my curls back. What did you do?

You are such a beautiful delight. I broke the bonus tip a few hours ago! Met this girl with hair standing out thick and fierce and gorgeous. Then i looked back at my fine, limp wavy straight heat-damaged mess with dismay. However i am determined. I remember how my hair and my curls were as a child and teen. I want to recapture that. Im only a few months in. I cut about 10 inches off back in June. Seeing progress in baby steps. Thanks so much for the tips AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

I need to show my stepmom this because she is still flat ironing her hair even though she has heat damage. She recently had some cut off a week ago today, and still has a little. She needs to break up with the flat iron for good! You can say that again (This is the age of knowledge and research!)!! I'm glad that I don't compare my hair with other naturals hair anymore.

I tried no heat for 2 or 3 years, and and styled my hair mostly in twist outs and it constantly broke off. I started using heat last fall and my hair has grown more since using heat than it did with no heat.. I am noticing more heat damage now and am starting to get worried, but I am also worried that returning to no heat and natural hairstyles will just began the never ending battle against dry, brittle hair that constantly breaks (+harsh european water and very cold winters).. anyone experience anything like this?

I haven't used heat since my relaxer 3 years ago until i had a blow out for my graduation. they had my hair so straight when it was naturally really curly and had high shrinkage. when i went to wash it out i noticed that my curls were way looser at the top and the back barely had curls.

My hair used to last 8 days now im lucky if i get 2 out of a wash n go:-(. And im comparing my hair to others which makes it all worse. Will try the protein and reconstructors. I WILL be consistent! ❤️

I had heat damage at my roots too. I went to a Dominican salon and they did a roller set, and blew out the roots for me. The blow dryer was soooo hot so it damaged my roots. You literally just have to grow out your full head of hair at that point 😭 I'm growing mine out and now that straight part is at my midshaft so it's annoying but possible. You aren't alone

I have heat damage and my hair is really curly at the roots and wavy and a little frizzy almost all the way to my ends but my ends are straight. I hate it. But using Shea Moister has brought my curls back a little more I've just gotten the product and used it twice and I see my curls coming back a little. But I'm trying to reduce heat to my hair but it's hard and I only straighten my hair once a week but I'm working on once a month.

    • @madisonflowers7449
      @madisonflowers7449 Před 8 lety +12

You shouldn't do once a week at all, that's too much heat period, try once every 2 weeks to a month, also make sure to use a good heat protectant and to wrap your hair at night to make your flat irons last longer, also never have the flat iron above about 350 degrees.

I have two different textures on my hair and I never used heat on it. I suspect it was because of hormonal imbalance or a deficiency. The ends of my hair don't curl they wave and it's thinner than my new growth. I would transition and trim as I go.

what all consist of a hot oil treatment and how do you do it? I love this! I'm breaking up with the flat iron TODAY! Well, I haven't had high heat in my hair in 6 months (blow dry yes, flat iron no) but I had an appointment set for next week for a blowout. Canceled! So you used the aphogee lie once a month and condiditoned weekly but how often did you hot oil?

happycurlhappygirl, thank you for this. My hair was tailbone length and i straightened it for the 1st time in 5yrs and had to cut 10-12" off and theres more to cut. Im so damn mad. All my hair is damaged but only the ends were bone straight. All that work to get tailbone length hair and now its back at mid back/ maybe some waist length.
Ive been doing the aphogee reconstucter and keratin leave in since i did the 2step. But, im losing hair severely and i think my porosity is now high😢 my wash n go dried to 70% in less than an hour. My hair my entire life took days to dry. Ill do another 2step in a couple weeks. Thx again

I did the porosity test & my hair remained afloat which means I have low porosity hair too. but I read that when you have low porosity hair, staying away from protein is essential. I use the same one she does and my hair is so strong. Like I can comb and brush it and i dont lose a ton of hair. Like she stated use a good moisturizing conditioner after. My hair love it. But that's my hair. As with any journey you have to see what works for you.

braids, extensions, twist outs, buns, other protective styles. I know it gets tiring but as long as you use heat your hair will never get back to life. I stopped for a year using all heat. I deep condition every week do protein treatments twice a year and wore protective styles in between styles I'd cut my ends and took hair vitamins. it's only a inch longer than a year ago but I've cut at least 3-4 inches throughout the year and my curls are back and hair is full. I'm going to keep up my regime until the length is where I want but the health is back and that's what's important.

Great tips. What deep conditioner do you use? I'm trying to find a really good one.

Have you done a video on apogee products.....Or can you do a video on there products.....cus this sister is confused....Ive been wanting to try but not to sure....I normally use the Palmer's protein pack....but there only light treatments I do believe my hair needs something stronger.....I no apogee has a high hydrolyzed wheat protein content in it, which I think my hair needs.....I got heat damage colour damage and I think the elasticity to my hair strands needs strengthening as well. I no they got a few products like the 2 minuet one and the normal one....and some kind of tea tree reconstructor spray....Could I just use the spray....I don't want to mess up my hair with protein overload.....some one said u have to be really careful useing apogee products and it's best to let a professional do it.....I don't got no coin right now to pay a stylist....and I don't trust nobody in my head either. Can you just do a in depth video.....on the differences between the product line and how to use them.....thanks

Browndigs69 I would say start off using either the 2 minute reconstructor or the texture treatment from the Curlific line every 4-6 weeks. If you still aren’t seeing results then try the aphogee 2 step treatment (on its own) every 6 weeks. It’s possible to be careful so long as you are following either method with a *very* moisturising deep conditioner. Hope that helps.
