Up close in a hide with the birds - Cumbria Woodland Hide

- So this week I've come to the 𝗖𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗲 in Cockermouth in the 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁, today is more of a reconnaissance day to check out the hide and see what wildlife is around for a future trip that I have planned later in March of this year, today I am photographing in the hide with a good friend Alan who is also a *wildlife photographer*.
The morning started off with a bang and straight away the female sparrowhawk was spotted on the tree just to the right of the hide as the male sparrowhawk came in on one of the perches to have his breakfast of a baited feed.
Obviously during the time that the 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗛𝗮𝘄𝗸𝘀 are around nowhere the birds or bang bowls can be seen as they are scattered away in hiding until the sparrowhawks have left, once they have left all the little birds come back such as the nuthatch, great tit, bluetit, chaffinch and treecreepers, along with the great spotted woodpecker and many others.
All in all, it was a fantastic day in this little hide photographing the birds it was nonstop action from start to finish with never a dull moment and always something to photograph.

Cheers Lee, yes a fantastic little hide this is, with plenty of wildlife, and really nice to see the sparrowhawks also along with the bank voles, personally i prefure the female sparrow hawk, with her lovely brown colouring. 👍😀

No, I wish, Alan who i went with was kind enough to lend me his lens for the day, wow what a difference it made, even the eye tracking improved from the 100-500, a few more subscribers and i may get one lol 👍😂
Great photos!!…..and video… I have a canon 6d with a 100-400 mm lens. I was told by a photographer that the mirror cameras, for example the R6, track better? Is that your experience?
Hi Fred, not really the R6 II may track better but I have never used the MKII, i have the R6 I and have not noticed it to be better or worse, to be honest. 👍

I do say in the video that the perches are bated not hiding the fact, I suppose putting bird feed in your garden is the same thing 😃
