New subscriber here. Thanks for the video and the other one on replacing the gasket. I have to tackle 12 windows! Can't afford to get anyone in to do them for me so your video will be guiding me as I work my way through the house. Thank you so much. And thank you for providing the links too in the comments. Much appreciated.
Your welcome, good luck with the task.
@@TheRepairer Thanks
Great video. Thanks. Just found a sample pack on eBay.
Thanks, it was one of the first videos I made for my channel good luck with your repair.
Thanks for the video, I’ve been looking everywhere for a nonsense guide, this is exactly what I needed to know.
I don’t suppose you have the link to the exact gasket you ordered by any chance? I wouldn’t have a clue even if I ordered samples as mine are so far gone they no longer have shape to them. I have exactly the same windows as these & I’m going to have a go at replacing the gaskets this week. Also can you use a LM silicone sealant to do the insides between the glass? Cheers
I purchased the bubble “gasket sample pack” from eBay for 99 pence or order here www.homesecureshop.co.uk/products/rubber-door-and-window-seal-bubble-sample-pack. Just try the gasket samples out for best fit. I have successfully found a suitable gasket from this pack to replace a missing gasket on a bifold door. I’d have no reservations using the LM silicone to make a seal between the window pane and the frame a good idea. It’s likely a much easier alternative to removing the glazing to fit a rubber strip just clean up the area well beforehand as it can be a dirt trap!
Nearly 12 months later & I am back here, obviously I didn’t sort this out last winter lol. Apologies, I didn’t see your reply back then either. I am going to order the sample pack right now as i can already feel the draught coming through. I will let you know how I get on with replacing this. Belated thanks for the link, and the simple but informative video.

hi, thanks for the video. why you do not cut the gasket at 45 but going around? bu the time it will shrink again leaving gaps in corner..thanks
I just copied the original fitting line and installation of the old factory gasket, One cut per gasket inner & outer,
I've just replaced some ancient gasket but now have a draught where there wasn't before! Any ideas? I'm sure it was the correct fit!
It’s a possibility that the window isn’t closing properly on the opposite side to the catch. Are the hinges stiff?
@@TheRepairer it is a large top opener, I've tightened the only screw I think will make a difference but it's still a bit draughty.
do you replace the gasket on the window or the gasket on the frame,, or both?
cos including the UPVC front and back doors and ba windows etc,,, that's a lot of rubber I'm gonna need
I replaced both the inner and outer gaskets.
@@TheRepairer ....damnit ... I knew you were going to say that......ah well ... it makes sense and will stop any draughts
Windows came with flapper gaskets, want to change to bubble gaskets as they appear to get a better seal. This ok you think?
Not something I’d ever considered, I can see the logic in that upgrade. Good idea
Where to get this gasket from? And does it have to be particular shape?
I just matched the shape of the original gasket and purchased from this supplier, www.homesecureshop.co.uk/products/rubber-door-and-window-seal-bubble-sample-pack
hello . i want to know the Size of this upvc side sector?or the name of it ?
It’s Just a window gasket they come in various lengths.
@@TheRepairer i mean that i like this window with its Slender ribs ؟ how can i order it ( the name ) ?
I don’t know the name of the window type, it came with the house when I bought it, it was likely produced in 1997 as it original to the property.
@@TheRepairer thank u alot
Why is gasket offset?
Good question, I don’t know
How much is it to replace the gaskets if I get someone in?
It would be difficult to say as rates are indeed variable from tradesmen.
