    I passed first time in my own little car (which at the time was an 18yr old vauxhall corsa) I made sure it was spotless inside and out on the day & my driving instructor came along with me - but he had to drive me back home after the test, as I was only insured as a learner, but it only took about 10/15 minutes once home to change my policy 😊👍

      I didn't mention L plates because everyone knows it is the law to display L plates on a learner car and an internal mirror is asked but will be provided if you have not got one. I do mention this In the description. Thank you for commenting

    The video we asked for and Travis delivered 😊
    Good Luck everyone with your £63 spent for your uk driving test and hopefully we can all pass this.
    Happy new year. ❤
    Sounded very stressful 😅
    So many things to avoid the problems faults in as you mentioned in this video. 😮

    I never would have thought of doing this, but I've heard numerous stories of money-hungry instructors who claim a student isn't ready to use their car, so said student ends up getting their own car and ended up passing. With how difficult it is to get a slot these days it almost seems necessary.

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 3 měsíci

      You will always hear about the odd bad instructor. But there are tens of thousands good instructors out there who have your best intentions.
      But if you are ready and your instructor says you are ready but is not available, then use your car.

      @@JamesTravis Yeah, I'm purely coming from the perspective of someone who has been learning a fair few years, has had a few instructors because lockdown meant my usual one wasn't available, doesn't own a car and whose theory test expires in a few months. Need to drive for work cause the buses are so often late, and I do sometimes feel I'm waiting forever.

    What is the smallest car you can take on the test? If they are legal, how can they be banned on the driving test?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 8 měsíci

      Cars that are banned are for reasons that make it hard for the examiner to conduct a fair test.
      Such as soft top cars
      Cars that cannot reach 70 mph
      Cars that have large rear pillar to block obersvations

    Hi,
    Thank you for the explanation. I have a question about my windscreen. It has a straight crack, but it's not very long and is located on the passenger side, so it doesn't affect the passenger's view. Can I still use my car for the driving test?
    Thank you.

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 3 měsíci

      I cannot give you a definite yes because you might drive over a pot hole as you are driving to the test centre and your windscreen cracks even more making it undriveable.
      I would drive to the test centre and ask the examiner to give you their opinion.

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 3 měsíci

      You could phone up your test centre and ask them. They will be happy to confirm this.

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před měsícem

      Cars you cannot use
      Some cars cannot be used in the test because they do not give the examiner all-round vision.
      You cannot use any of the following:
      BMW 218 convertible
      BMW Mini convertible
      Ford KA convertible
      Smart Fortwo (2-door)
      Toyota iQ
      VW Beetle convertible
      There might be other cars that you cannot use. This is because not every model has been used in a test before, and some may not give the examiner all-round vision.

    My son has a spare tyre in his boot. The advisory on dvsa website says this has to be removed from the car before his test date, why is that?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před měsícem

      If you mean the spare wheel in the spare wheel compartment in the book, then you will be ok.
      If the wheel or tyre is just sat in the boot where you put your bags, then it would need to be moved for safety reasons

    Thank you sir for the info. Just a keep question please, I have a Renault capture and I intend to use it for my test, I don’t have an instructor in my current location, can I go to the test center alone with my provisional license and do the test? Or will the examiner ask for my instructor license? Thank you

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 3 měsíci +1

      You don’t need an instructor with you for the driving test if you are going in your car. But you will need a qualified driver in the passenger seat with you. That person needs to be 21 years old or older and have at least 3 years experience as a driver.

    • @lovedanievent4998
      @lovedanievent4998 Před 3 měsíci

      Hello James, just to add to his question. You mean I can’t drive to the test center alone? If I don’t have anyone available to go with me, what’s the alternative to use my car for the test? I have a test on the 17th of June and i intend using my car, i have Car Tax, MOT & Valid Insurance. Car is neat and fully functional. What’s the other option please for me without another passenger driver

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před 3 měsíci

      @@lovedanievent4998 if you go in your car, you will need a qualified driver next to you in the passenger seat to make it legal. That passenger would have needed to have passed their driving test over 3 years ago.
      So whoever sits with you when you practice in your car is probably the one who will be with you at test centre if you are using your car.
      If you decide to hire a dual control car for test. Then Arnold Clark car hire is the company who you want to contact.
      The only other option is to use a qualified driving instructor.
      Hope that info helps

    Hi James,
    I have a query regarding automatic and manual car driving test.
    I have booked my driving test with Automatic car but i want to give my driving test with manual car.
    Is it possible to change from automatic to manual car driving test?
    My driving test will be in September 2024

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Před měsícem

      If your driving test is in the UK, then you can turn up in manual car and everything will be ok.
      The reason for this is because when you book your driving test, they only ask for your driving license number. So you can turn up in a manual or automatic and take your test.
