You know Sophie, I was feeling the exact same way you are. I switched from a Corsa to a VW golf a couple weeks before my test. It really does feel like your going back to basics 😂 but remember to keep persevering and it'll be second nature eventually. Safe travels 😊😊

They were in the 'only left' lane but went straight. But to be fair there wasn't any road markings.

Keep calm Sophie the only mandatory what changes are the Car measurements and an tiny bit in Handling. As long you don´t change from RHD to LHD there is nothing to get worry about

I failed my driving test today, so disappointed. Being nervous makes me lose concentration and forget many basic things to drive legally 😔

When I learned the the indicators where on the left on the instructor and on my mums car it was the opposite side. A lot of it is just take back to the basics and find somewhere quite to get used to everything. Master the basics like setting off and stopping and the rest falls into place. Wait till you go and drive abroad in a hire car and everything is reversed. It's like your first lesson and all you do is talk through the steps

I find it so bizarre because I used to get so stressed for my lessons, I had a major fault in every one up until I passed, I passed first time with 5 minors, and I do drive well but I have absolutely no confidence and I am so nervous to drive anywhere new. And then I have friends that are any accident waiting to happen, take 3+ times to pass and they go everywhere and do everything, and I know I am in most parts a better driver than them, but at the end of the day they have the confidence that’s not holding them back

Hi, Thank you for the explanation. I have a question about my windscreen. It has a straight crack, but it's not very long and is located on the passenger side, so it doesn't affect the passenger's view. Can I still use my car for the driving test? Thank you.

So if I wanted the 4th exit I’d move to left lane and ofc indicate once I see exit 3 ? As I obviously failed for cutting someone up nearly 😢

I failed this morning, I had my test booked since January and now the soonest I can get a test is November. I’m devastated, I live in such a rural area with no buses so I’m completely isolated and have to turn down so many opportunities because I can’t get a lift. The thought of getting behind the wheel again feels pointless, thank you for this video

It's somewhat counter intuitive because your brain (mine atleast) naturally thinks that when to brake is down it is active, and up is inactive. Opposite with the hand brake.

Hi James. Thanks for the video. Certainly informative. For me the column sign would be the one I would look at as apposed to the roundabout sign to ensure I selected the correct lane for the way and exit I intended to take.

I passed my test and have been driving for 2 months but really struggled with a new 4 lane spiral roundabout in a new city yesterday [actually cut in front of someone]. A lot of the roundabouts are much more complicated than the one above, any general tips for new spirals? Thanks

We have a roundabout in Chatham , it does appear on dash cam videos lol., but you have to go from far right to far left just to go to the road that goes off to Borstal

That roundabout is easy because the road signs and the road markings tell you what lane to use, there’s a roundabout in my town similar to this, it’s only a 1 lane roundabout so very easy but straight on is at 1 o’clock, that’s why I don’t like the 12 o’clock rule because ahead isn’t always at 12 o’clock, another roundabout in my town the straight on exit is at 11 o’clock, you have to work out which exit is straight, anything before is left, anything after is right, it’s easy if you know the area but I can appreciate it might be a bit confusing if you don’t know the area, it really helps if you have a look on google maps to see what lane you’ll need to use if there are any roundabouts on the route that you’re taking or even better, use a sat nav, it’ll tell you what road you’re on and then for example if you come up to a roundabout and it says to you follow the road ahead 3rd exit to town centre A607 which is at 1 o’clock on the roundabout sign, if the sat nav says you’re already on the A607 then you know that the 3rd exit is straight on even though it’s at 1 o’clock.

It's always helps know which road you have to take. That's how I would do it look for the signs and road markings if I get a wrong lane indicate to see if someone will let us change lanes. If they don't simply go the wrong way.

The key thing is whatever you do when you’re on a test or in a lesson, or driving in general is to be safe. That’s what they’re looking for. Or anyone in your car wants to feel safe with you.

I recently started lessons again with a new instructor and he was telling me i should be able to take my mini 2013 convertible - apparently Coventry Bayton road allow this? Do you have any experience with being allowed a convertible?
