  • The newly restored steam locomotive, Reading and Northern 2102, pulls its first excursion train in over 30 years after being restored by the Reading and Northern Railroad. Here we follow it pulling the Iron Horse Rambles train through the Eastern Pennsylvania Country Side, from Reading, PA to Jim Thorpe and back, a total trip of over 120 miles for the steam train. The engine is a former Reading Railroad T1 Northern type (4-8-4), originally constructed as a smaller I-10 Consolidation (2-8-0) in 1925 and then completely rebuilt during WWII in 1945 into the Northern type it is today. It was mainly built for fast freight and with the capability of use with some passenger work (mainly troop trains). Special thanks to Asher Lurie for being a substitute Rail Brother and getting some awesome shots! Filmed May 28, 2022.

Great footage! Was this all filmed the same day in at least one shot a completely different whistle is used unless they mount 2 different whistles?

Good catch! It was all one day, so they have two different whistles on 2102, a reading freight whistle (a “hooter”) and a reading 6-chime!

@@RailBrothers Very cool! btw I love your guys videos I've watched most of them now. I was actually going to head to Jim Thorpe to see this but I have a long drive from Cincinnati and my camera is not exactly waterproof so I decided to skip out when I saw the weather. But good for you guys for sticking it out!
