@@pedrokantor3997 it's more because of the Soul Drinker's attack on the Adeptus Mechanicus for refusing to return the Soul Spear to the chapter.

BulletHail387 the mechanicus need to learn to keep their grubby little prosthetics off treasured artifacts. I’m sure the soul drinkers would have been willing to allow the mechanicus to study it so long as they didn’t try to disassemble it or something but when you steal from a chapter there is only one outcome. Violent retribution.

I recall at the end of the Soul Drinkers novel chain a Blood Angel apothecary told the court on the Phalanx the Soul Drinkers were found not to be descendants of Rogal Dorn.
Was it an altered corpse the Blood Angels picked up, with the bombshell data meant to break Sarpedon at the trial? Or did Rogal Dorn pick up a loyalist group of space marines from another legion, much like Roboute did with the space marines allegedly earmarked toward the missing primarchs? Or did the Alpha Legion or a wily other traitor legion infiltrate the Fists' ranks?
/thought the Soul Drinkers might be Night Lords loyalists, as Curze had that cannibalism power and had a hatred of corruption, while Sarpedon's psychological psyker abilities and quick strike mentality with his troops was more in line with NL than Fists.

    Big soul drinkers fan here.
I have a theory on their origin. A test of their gene-seed showed that they weren't descended from Rogal Dorn, and yet, they have a SUPER clear origin, and know exactly where they come from, so far as being descended from a specific group of the imperial fists fleet based shock attack branch of the legion right?
I don't think it makes sense for them to know their origin to that specific of a degree, only for it to be completely untrue. So I think instead there is a key element being left out. Legions were semi-fluid in the olden days. There are numerous references to squads from legions that turned traitor who instead remained loyal, and also references to the 2 lost legions, and both of these groups, the lost legions and the loyalists from the traitor legions, had the same fate. They were integrated into other chapters. While the legion that usually received these outsiders were the ultramarines, it is more than likely that the others received a few as well. I think this is by far the most likely origin for the Soul Drinkers. only having lost part of that story, their shameful origin before joining the imperial fist.

The necrons silent king went. And then came running back and locked himself in his room because he saw what was coming.
Then it’s hinted at in the book carcaradons: red tithe that there are entire space marine chapters that the imperium is unaware of that were given a special mission and made an oath to big e and have been fighting a massive war beyond the rim of the galaxy. Probably with the nids and all the chapters doing it are members of the traitor legions that remained loyal

No. I like to think before. In my mind, I see it as where Chaos survived, but the universe did not die. I like to think some major events caused the surviving Humans, Eldar, Orcs, and other races to find a new home on a distant world that has magical properties in a new galaxy far from eye of terror and warp tear that was in the milky way. Where the Surviving Humans and Eldar who now became Elves rebuilt their societies and Gods through the magic of the world they inhabited. Over time they became primitive and forgot their technologies all together in favor of magic and then Chaos returns once again. That's the only way I see it making sense to me.
