i love the zipper! i was at walmart today and i got one and was hoping you'd have a video on it so i searched and you did! i'd have figured it out eventually, but you made it much easier on me! can't wait to try it when i get home!

Clever girl! What a cool photocopy technique- I'm def using that!! And you just know that zipper has been places and seen things- my bet is on a pair of hot pants. Another way to keep the zipper from sticking and maybe eventually damaging the page is to use use any graphite pencil lead, even an old #2. Just rub up and down the teeth and it's good to go- I've found that soap attracts humidity from the air but graphite lasts ages. And it's another way to add some great darkening/aging to the zip. Maybe your coolest video yet? Love it!
oh katherine....that is right....i had forgotten about the graphite! i am going to do that....darkening? i love darkening!!! the videos just keep raising the bar, don't they? i am hoping a 'simple' project wakes me up soon....even i could use a break...lol!!! see you on the table...oh....and hot pants....it has been a while since i have worn those....thank goodness...lol
The zipper technique is great, but I really love the idea of printing on top of another image. I will print on my printer and then take that page to the library to copy on their copier. I am sure that will work. Thanks for another wonderful page!

I'm about to invest in a laser printer and I can't wait to try out your printing technique on some old maps and magazine pages. So clever! And I wish I had seen you add a zipper before I inserted one in my last lapbook. I made such hard work of it! I'm loving your videos and learning so much. Thank you xx
zippers have never been my friends....this is such an easy way to work it into the page, right? i love the look and the feel of the zipper in the book....i had the idea and i could not wait to make it happen! see you on the table janet...
i have a very simple HP laser printer....have had it a few years....i can blue tooth it to my laptop....it works well....i hope that helps....any appliance store should have some choices for you....
Just purchased a Brother 1212W monochrome laser printer from Ryman's via Amazon for around £53 - special sale price. It's compact and very quiet, easy to set up, and it's wireless. Hope this helps, sorry for the delay replying to your query.
for some reason jean...the black masking tape holds much better than the tan masking tape...but...yeah...the napkin does make it more stable by far...go create, go play, go have fun!
This is something that I have got to try, it's just too neat not too! I am planning an art journal for my granddaughter in Steampunk style so this idea will work out great for it. Blessings! ❤️🙏🏻❤️

Hi LorriMarie, Have been wanting to try this for some time and am now in the midst of adding a zipper to not one but two pages--I'm working on two books simultaneously! What I want to ask is when to cut the slit behind the zipper so as to create the pocket? Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.
well....for me? if i was 'engineering' this today? i would probably cut the image were i wanted the zipper...and then sew one piece back on to the zipper at a time...much easier adventure if the pages are removed from the book...i would think....i hope that sort of answered your question kaethe....go create, go play, go have fun!!!
Hi Miss LoriMarie - beyond _itching. So cool. I am wondering if you have created this style page with a Ziploc bag. The kind that has a knobby-thingy (yep, technical term) to open & shut the Ziploc bag. Thank you. Best day now.
i know cindy...i was thinking the same thing...do you think the pages could handle the stress of opening and closing? worth some thought, right? on we go!!! see you on the table...
Love the Zipper! Amazing Inspiration! Going to soon invest in a Laser Printer, I've wanted one for years, back when they were $300+, now ~$99 on Amazon. Yaya!! Karen
they are finally affordable! mine is black and white....i wish i would have gotten a color one...but the black and white ones are more in MY budget....lol! see you on the table!
I thought about that, too. But I'm going B/W, I think. I'd love to know why you're thinking about a color one, since I havne't used one, yet. So far, my reasoning: The ink is cheaper, best for transfers, can always color with watercolor, use acrylic/inks on the back of an acetate image... What do you think?
You are so creative LorriMarie! Your ideas are so wonderful and I love this page. The background is so yummy. I'm doing fabric beads to my altered book, I have so much hanging outside the book, many beads to make, lol. My book even have a name; Louise. I'm a bit crazy, lol. Tfs, love, Fia
and louise loves dangling goodies!!! yay for crazy! we would not have it any other way, would we fia? ...i thought it was pretty crazy to put on old zipper in the book...but....wowza....love it!i am hoping to get some play time today but the day is slipping through my fingers....yikes! see you on the table my friend!
LorriMarie Jenkins You're so right, I wouldn't have it any other way, either. Working on Louise's cover, lol. This hasn't just been my first altered book, it's been such a big journey! Waiting to see you on the table! xx
ahhhhh....an art journey! my favorite! i love it! give louise a gentle squeeze from me! and i plan to be on the table soon...as soon as i can find it....chaos abounds in the studio! lol
hey there sue ellen...always good to hear from you! and yes....i do sell my altered books...i have art at 3 galleries and i send the books off to art magazines for them to publish...but the books are always for sale....i have 3 for sale at this very moment!.....interested? see you the table sue ellen...and thank you for asking!
to roz and zippa....lol! i love printing over images on pages, maps, music sheet pages....it gives the image a whole new look...you going to try it? and i am sure you can dig up a zipper or two! go create, go play, go have fun!!!
This is one of my favorite LorriMarie treatments so far woohoo!! However my sewing machine is in storage, not accessible right now. Do you suppose one could hand stitch the zipper securely in place ? Maybe some fun crazy double stitching? Think I'm going to try it - what the heck! :)
good morning lindyup.....is this your first time commenting? i think so...anyway...i think that hand stitching would be divinely delicious! i would use a dark thread and really show off the stitches too! yummmmmmmy! see you on the table!
My first time to comment, but I am a serious LMJ lurker 🤓 something about the zipper treatment just threw me over the edge! Love the dark contrast stitch idea... gonna try it! You rock 😘
lindyup.....i love having a LMJ lurker!!!! that made me giggle! i would love to see what you come up with! see you on the table my friend....thank you for commenting!! you have no idea how much i appreciate it!
YEAH! Another great idea. I use my regular printer and just spritz on a stabilizer (aka hairspray) and then get on with the project. It has to be the aerosol type spray. Now where did you get those napkins? My daughter would LOVE those!
hey there gluegun....what a great name!! here is the amazon link for the stabilo pencils....they are much cheaper by the dozen...do you have friends you can share with? amzn.to/2B9VMhe i am glad your are inspired! this journey i am with yourtube and 'our village' keeps me inspired too...and for that i remain grateful! see you on the table...

Just purchased a Brother 1212W monochrome laser printer from Ryman's via Amazon for around £53 - special sale price. It's compact and very quiet, easy to set up, and it's wireless. Hope this helps, sorry for the delay replying to your query.
I was glad when you added the napkin edge I was worried about the long-term attachment of masking tape. It gets old and dry so fast! Cool page!
for some reason jean...the black masking tape holds much better than the tan masking tape...but...yeah...the napkin does make it more stable by far...go create, go play, go have fun!
👍🏼🤗
i see that this is one of the earlier videos...still fun, right tfh? happy new year tfh....and see you on the table....
Love this page - love the zipper. Wow - blew my mind. Oh, I held my breath while you were taping down the page! 😂
lol...me too neva....it turned out great so thank you for the help...lol! see you on the table..
This is brilliant!! I love it!
thank you sandra! it was so fun to do! are you playing along....go create, go play, go have fun!
Those beads are amazing!
i know, right???
This is something that I have got to try, it's just too neat not too! I am planning an art journal for my granddaughter in Steampunk style so this idea will work out great for it. Blessings! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
oh won't she love it?! this was one of those 'ideas' that was too great not to play with! i am so glad you are in 'our village'...you are being inspired all over the place...yay! go play!
Wow, what a great idea LM, and the video is amazing~
thank you judy!!! it was so much fun! have you seen the other videos for the altered book? thank you for being part of the 'village'...see you on the table judy...
Love this so creative.
creative, fun, and a success! lol! see you on the table maris!
Hi Miss LoriMarie - beyond _itching. So cool. I am wondering if you have created this style page with a Ziploc bag. The kind that has a knobby-thingy (yep, technical term) to open & shut the Ziploc bag. Thank you. Best day now.
i have not tried that beaula....it sounds fun! go create, go play, go have fun!!!
This was spectacular!
thank you sherlene....such a fun idea....and i even made it work!!!! love hearing from you! go play!
Don’t you need to cut open the book pages in order to have it open when unzipped? Did I miss that step?
i cut the page off screen i guess....at about 12 minutes...sorry for the confusion jan....see you on the table jan!
The zipper idea is soooo cool.....how about snaps.....oh my you got me thinking again ! ,
i know cindy...i was thinking the same thing...do you think the pages could handle the stress of opening and closing? worth some thought, right? on we go!!! see you on the table...
What do you think?
that sounds perfect! that is why i have the B/W printer...lol! just once in a while i would like to copy in color...
Love the zipper! ❤️💯
isabella.....i love the zipper too.....sooo fun!!! go create, go play, go have fun!!!
Waiting to see you on the table! xx
ahhhhh....an art journey! my favorite! i love it! give louise a gentle squeeze from me! and i plan to be on the table soon...as soon as i can find it....chaos abounds in the studio! lol
an ink jet printer won't work? BTW, I adore your videos!
good morning dela...an ink jet print will bleed, move and fade....but....use what you have, right? go create, go play, go have fun dela!!!
LorriMarie, Do you ultimately sell your altered books?
hey there sue ellen...always good to hear from you! and yes....i do sell my altered books...i have art at 3 galleries and i send the books off to art magazines for them to publish...but the books are always for sale....i have 3 for sale at this very moment!.....interested? see you the table sue ellen...and thank you for asking!
Love how you printed the page LorriMarie. ..great idea!!
I think I have some old zippers somehere.
By the way my cat's name is Zippa....lol
to roz and zippa....lol! i love printing over images on pages, maps, music sheet pages....it gives the image a whole new look...you going to try it? and i am sure you can dig up a zipper or two! go create, go play, go have fun!!!
Only you would come up with this! It would be great to find an old zipper.
off to the second hand stores with you monica....i am sure you can find one! go create, go play, go have fun!
Oh, and that's not spit and smudge: that's signing your art with your DNA~ ;~D
the napkins were probably gifted to me....as alot of things are....good tip on the 'hairspray' tip...archival? go create, go play, go have fun pamela!
Can't watch, now. Promise I'll be back! XOX In mean time, sharing!
i will be right here when you get back!!!
Would double sided tape be strong enough for this LorriMarie?
probably kerry....if it is strong tape....what a great idea! see you on the table kiddo...
Inspired ✅.... I Definitely want to try this idea. Thank you for sharing. Amazing. Stabilo? Where do you get it from?
hey there gluegun....what a great name!! here is the amazon link for the stabilo pencils....they are much cheaper by the dozen...do you have friends you can share with? amzn.to/2B9VMhe
i am glad your are inspired! this journey i am with yourtube and 'our village' keeps me inspired too...and for that i remain grateful! see you on the table...
I absolutely loved your technique, I started binge watching your altered book series (I’m on #6).
Thank you for the link LorriMarie, I’m liking that fast grunge / distressed look the stabilo gives.
#6? oh baby....you are on fire! lots more fun to come tho...right? grab a cup o'joe and binge away!!! i love the stabilo too....a life changer!!! see you on the table GG&R...
Would you believe, my darling Lorri, I am just now able to watch. Finally caught up in the Boxing Chicks Arts biz and can play!!! What a sweet happy mail that you received. By the way, I love Seth Apter's stuff. His Seth Apter's Baked Texture Embossing Powders for Artists are fabulous! If you haven't you must try them. I'm waiting on my back order! Check out my old dear friend, Heather Tracy on CZcams. She has a great video on them: czcams.com/video/p0T1zkEFg-k/video.html
i am going to check that out....we are in the year of 'need vs. want'....where do you think baked texture embossing powders would fall...lol! you are one busy girl right now...i am glad you got BCA biz caught up...now for some play time, right? see you on the table!
I sure understand need vs want, been there done that, still go there at times! We had the Etsy shop first. Before that we had to build our inventory, so crazy as it sounds, our wants are often needs, too! XOX
