I was out yesterday for 3 hours !
Pit zips are awesome for ventilation, and I don’t mind the logo on it and you can hardly even see it anyway and who cares about fashion. I ordered mine a size large for room for a jacket underneath really more for winter snowstorm shell as we don’t get all that much wet rain weather here just a rare shower.

Great to hear
two things bother me about this jacket:
1. a good jacket, but trousers get wet, so you'd need a set.
2. with prices like these, there shouldn't be a big advertisement on the jacket.
(i still prefer the old swiss army rain-set (hat, jacket (convertable between jacket and coat), trousers). if you don't go for a swim in the clothes, you stay dry all day (except you move a lot, it will start to accumulate condensation ;)
ALSO what i'd expect from the more expensive outdoor-clothes: some info about how to take care of that thing; like "with which products" one could renew the insulation aso. mostly, it's "try and error"
The logo on the back is an issue with a lot of people

I would have preferred button closure on the cuffs rather than Velcro but seems like a well made jacket..Is it warm??

Nice one. My wife thinks we are related in some way as I do daft shit like that just to see if a jacket really is waterproof. I did the same with my Wynnchester bedroll, using it in a night when it was lashing just to prove it was waterproof….🫣. It was btw. All the best. 😂👍

The whole point in softshells is that they're much more breathable than membrane based materials like Goretex. If they don't have a membrane then they are not waterproof. If they do have a membrane then they're not very breathable. So the idea of a softshell waterproof makes little sense unless they've come up with some novel technology, like say Paramo have, and even they're not truely waterproof in the say Goretex is. Baerskin don't mention what waterproofing tech they are using other than mentioning a DWR. DWR isn't waterproofing it's just surface repellancy - works for a shower.

In my experience nothing holds up in torrential rain except something rubber , like a heavy poncho. I've had this out in heavy showers and it's been fine
@@RedBranchBushcraft They make ocean drysuits out of Goretex - designed for people with waves coming over them or even falling in the sea. Goretex membrane is 100% waterproof if intact. You might sweat in them but they can definitely keep rain out.

@@RedBranchBushcraft Right, nothing stands up to torrential rain except a rubber coat, and those are miserable things. Rain won’t get in, but you sweat so much you’ll be just as wet anyway.
