The ad popped up and I clicked because it seemed like a decent hoodie. The first red flag was the instant deep discount. The second red flag was ticking clock to buy. I almost clicked buy, when I decided to see if anyone had reviewed it. Thank you - this is exactly what I was looking for. I did not buy.
I was curious so I checked the website, it looked good but when I noticed that clock for a discount I already decided I wasn't going to buy it - these clocks are always for scam related products. And you should never buy anything without checking a review.
If they were really selling out of stock, why would they waste resources telling you that they were running out. It's a cheap ploy, if they were really selling out they could drop the paid ads and let word of mouth do the job.
Great review, thanks. You just saved me from making a poor purchase. The absolute deal breaker for me is the lack of a draw string around the hood. Call me a cynic if you will but I am always wary of products that are heavily advertised on CZcams and then come with a massive discount. However their advertising has worked in one way; I didn't realise that I needed a 'tactical' hoodie until I saw theirs. Now thanks to you I'm off down to the store to check out what the competition has to offer.😂

The Version 2.0 addressed many of the issues (I did a review on that one) and the Version 3.0 - the current product (I reviewed the 3.0 recently) - addressed my final concerns. The 3.0 is now my go-to outdoor garment.

I recognise your review is a few months old now and they have a new version but it was a really useful and through review. I liked how you went through all the things you liked and explained the flaws and limitations clearly. I feel they have a lot to do to bring this up to standard and make it worth the money. The new version costs even more with the fixes that should have been on the original. I looked on utube and found the Chinese was a better product for £40 so I ordered 2 on amazon and I am very pleased. It was the tacvasen tactical hoodie.

Women's zippers and buttons are traditionally on the left because historically buttons were worn by wealthy women who had maids dress them. The maids were mostly right handed, so it was for their convenience. The tradition held through the invention of the zipper, and continues to this day. Great review, chased me away from this come-on.
Thanks for warning me off of this - it looks surprisingly cheap. It's not even lined! And about the: "Oh, we changed the design and took out a couple of the features you paid for." You're a generous man for not busting them for false advertising. I was on the site just now (April 2, 2022) and the pictures on that site look exactly the same as before - they show a pocket on each lower arm area, but you didn't get one. I don't trust them. I got a cheap hoodie at Grocery Outlet, of all places, and it lasted a long, long time. The inside wasn't lined either, but you could reach into the space between the jacket and the outside pocket was actually useable as an inside pocket! It had 4 real pockets, all with zippers, and it was $10. I guess that made it a tactical hoodie. Not to get too gross, but after surgery years ago, I had to have drains for a couple of weeks. I slipped the bulbs into those "bonus" pockets and I could go stealth and go back to work without embarrassment. I'd REALLY like to see a review of your favorite jackets/outerwear/hoodies with the right pockets for the job, like the one you wore under the Baerskin hoodie. Bonus points if you find any good ones for Left-handers. My right arm can't do the job because I snapped a bicep tendon up at the shoulder a couple of years ago and it couldn't be repaired, so my equipment has to be left-handed. More expensive, but at least I can use it! P.S. Much respect for your service. My grandpa was a Kentucky country boy who volunteered to serve in WWII. He was a 101st Airborne Paratrooper, accidentally dropped behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge. He got hit in midair by flak, and Nazis operated on him to save his life so they could torture him for information (he had a field commission & they thought he knew battle plans). So he escaped, got captured again, then the war ended. Anyway, he shouted in his sleep every night for the rest of his life, "fightin' them krauts." he was the best man I've ever known. So thanks for doing your part. I know I'm not objective, but I tend to assume people who are or have been in the Service are good people.

I'm taking this as a lesson learned, the power of marketing is powerful. I can find the same perhaps better for less at Costco, I take that back not with inflation prices the way they are. I almost bought this myself thanks for saving me. What really got me to research this more, was the fitting chart. That chart is for midget circus acrobats no joke. not true Dr Squatch soap is awesome but to some degree theres always buyer beware. Looking for non partial reviews is key. The price of these things sets an expectation that they better be built to last and be amazingly warm. Biggest problem with buying clothes online is sizing is never perfect even if this video gives you an estimate. As a broad shoulder medium short guy its veery difficult to not buy a dress or hoodie that ends up too tight in the chest or arms end up way too long
Yup not something i would buy again biggest turn off for me is not the zipper location, etc but the first one was as advertised thicker material nicer, the other 2 i purchased was not as robust material/thinner

Thank You for your review, I was about to buy one, but I thought I check a couple reviews first and now I am definitely not paying “$69.99” on this cheaply produced product. Funny how the online commercials make the hoodie look like a good deal, when in fact, it is the opposite.

Left and Right handed zips are to do with who is dressing the wearer. Men typically dressed themselves/buttoned their own shirts/did jackets up, where as woman in corsets and rear-fastening clothing were dressed and the zips/buttons were arranged for the dresser/maid.

Great review chief. It's basically a wish item. I bought 2 of the waterproof duckskin type which is exactly the same design which was roughly £40 each a few years ago. I'm totally with you on all opinions

I would suggest people avoid the Baerskin products and company completely. I ordered in early October 2022, after a month, they shipped my order and provided a tracking number. The tracking number stopped tracking on Nov 23 with the statement "flight arrived". There is no way to track after this. I've messaged the company and emailed them several times to follow up on my order, which is over $300 worth of product, and they send an auto message that delivery "takes time". There is NO phone number that I can find to actually call them and they will not "live Chat" like their website says. It doesn't work. You have to leave a message on their chat and they say they will respond via email. Sometimes they respond, sometimes they do not. This is not near a reliable way to do business. I've asked for a refund and I bet I'll never hear a work back. BUYER BEWARE!
I appreciate the review, I've eyed this sweater some time before but just recently decided to really consider it. Your review was very helpful, it clarified all the details and then some, i can't believe the hoody doesn't have a drawstring. The advertisement really makes this a significant sweater to own, its unfortunate there are too many small discrepancies with it. Pop Gun, thanks for pointing me to American Giant. I like that they are made in America (North Carolina was once-upon-a-time a leader in garment manufacturing). However, none of their products had a chest pocket or zippered lower pockets, both of which I need in a mid-weight garment. I received my bearskin hoodie today and have been left pretty underwhelmed by it. To be honest, it's not something I would normally wear and only bought it because a friend suggested it, as I am off on a road trip through central Australia, and he thought it would be ideal on those cold nights. To me the hoodie looks pretty cheap. It has no style to it and is not made from the best material. I will be giving it to my friend as a gift, but gee, I wished I had come across your video prior to placing my order. Oh well, we live and learn, as they say. Thanks for the upload.
Couldn't agree more. We need CZcams to enforce a truth in origin for their commercials. I bought the BÆRSkin 2.0, which did address some of your concerns. Cost more, too. I have sworn off buying from other countries whenever possible. It is hard to do.
Wonderful, I saw the ad for this and was interested, it looked cool. Their own website reviews had 20% bad reviews, mostly because it took a few weeks to a few months to receive. Thanks for pointing out those details about the pockets. If i ordered a jacket with holes in the pockets, I would have sent it right back. The backward zipper and the jacked up chest pocket would drive me nuts.
Excellent review. The YT advert for this hoodie is very powerful, however the same hoodie is available on a Wishful online store for less than $20 plus shipping. It's a drop-shipping wonder hence the lack of branding.

Great review! I was gonna get my husband this hoodie. Not anymore! A lot of cash went into marketing, and none went into the product. The fact the hoodie has no branding is telling.

I'm taking this as a lesson learned, the power of marketing is powerful. I can find the same perhaps better for less at Costco, I take that back not with inflation prices the way they are. I almost bought this myself thanks for saving me. What really got me to research this more, was the fitting chart. That chart is for midget circus acrobats no joke. Anyways, I found my answer thanks again!

I've noticed a trend:
If it's advertised on CZcams there's a 95% chance it's a scam or absolute garbage.
not true Dr Squatch soap is awesome but to some degree theres always buyer beware. Looking for non partial reviews is key. The price of these things sets an expectation that they better be built to last and be amazingly warm. Biggest problem with buying clothes online is sizing is never perfect even if this video gives you an estimate. As a broad shoulder medium short guy its veery difficult to not buy a dress or hoodie that ends up too tight in the chest or arms end up way too long

Yup not something i would buy again biggest turn off for me is not the zipper location, etc but the first one was as advertised thicker material nicer, the other 2 i purchased was not as robust material/thinner
So glad to see an honest review, I've seen other reviews where you can see they are just parroting the commercial, what a joke! I have a hoodie like this, (but made of cotton) I bought years ago from Forman mills. In time I expect to see these hoodies there as well LoL

I was about to make a purchase on Amazon but , Thank God, it was unavailable. After reading your very thoughtful and unbiased review highlighting your pros and revealing your personal cons, I would never consider this purchase. You are unusually kind in somewhat dismissing the various flaws as not game changing but after reading other reviews, you might have had to get into overtime to get cooperation from customer service. That video is on the original. The Version 2.0 is much improved ( I did a review on that one), and I just received the newest update - I'll call it the 2.1. Now the zipper is on the correct side for the non-European folks.

Left and Right handed zips are to do with who is dressing the wearer.
Men typically dressed themselves/buttoned their own shirts/did jackets up, where as woman in corsets and rear-fastening clothing were dressed and the zips/buttons were arranged for the dresser/maid.
That was the history. Now it seems to be more of a regional preference.

That old review was on the original. BAERSkin made a Version 2.0 that addresses almost all of my complaints. (I reviewed that a while back.) I recently received the latest Version 3.0 and it addressed the last of my concerns. I'll have a review on the 3.0 shortly. Thanks for watching.
Great review chief. It's basically a wish item. I bought 2 of the waterproof duckskin type which is exactly the same design which was roughly £40 each a few years ago. I'm totally with you on all opinions

I would suggest people avoid the Baerskin products and company completely. I ordered in early October 2022, after a month, they shipped my order and provided a tracking number. The tracking number stopped tracking on Nov 23 with the statement "flight arrived". There is no way to track after this. I've messaged the company and emailed them several times to follow up on my order, which is over $300 worth of product, and they send an auto message that delivery "takes time". There is NO phone number that I can find to actually call them and they will not "live Chat" like their website says. It doesn't work. You have to leave a message on their chat and they say they will respond via email. Sometimes they respond, sometimes they do not. This is not near a reliable way to do business. I've asked for a refund and I bet I'll never hear a work back. BUYER BEWARE!
Not that it's any consolation, but there seem to be many, many folks in your situation.
I appreciate the review, I've eyed this sweater some time before but just recently decided to really consider it. Your review was very helpful, it clarified all the details and then some, i can't believe the hoody doesn't have a drawstring. The advertisement really makes this a significant sweater to own, its unfortunate there are too many small discrepancies with it. Can you do a review on American Giant Hoodie? Made completely in USA.
Pop Gun, thanks for pointing me to American Giant. I like that they are made in America (North Carolina was once-upon-a-time a leader in garment manufacturing). However, none of their products had a chest pocket or zippered lower pockets, both of which I need in a mid-weight garment.
I reached out to American Giant asking if they had any plans to add those features. If they do, I'd be happy to review one.

I received my bearskin hoodie today and have been left pretty underwhelmed by it. To be honest, it's not something I would normally wear and only bought it because a friend suggested it, as I am off on a road trip through central Australia, and he thought it would be ideal on those cold nights. To me the hoodie looks pretty cheap. It has no style to it and is not made from the best material. I will be giving it to my friend as a gift, but gee, I wished I had come across your video prior to placing my order. Oh well, we live and learn, as they say. Thanks for the upload.

Couldn't agree more. We need CZcams to enforce a truth in origin for their commercials. I bought the BÆRSkin 2.0, which did address some of your concerns. Cost more, too. I have sworn off buying from other countries whenever possible. It is hard to do.

They recently came out with the Version 2.0, which I reviewed. It is much improved.
Wonderful, I saw the ad for this and was interested, it looked cool. Their own website reviews had 20% bad reviews, mostly because it took a few weeks to a few months to receive. Thanks for pointing out those details about the pockets. If i ordered a jacket with holes in the pockets, I would have sent it right back. The backward zipper and the jacked up chest pocket would drive me nuts.
You must admit that they had a great marketing team to be able to sell so many $30 hoodies for $69.95.

The YT advert for this hoodie is very powerful, however the same hoodie is available on a Wishful online store for less than $20 plus shipping.
It's a drop-shipping wonder hence the lack of branding.
