Come take a walk with me around Chicago's Andersonville & Edgewater neighborhoods as I test out the Mitakon 65mm f1.4 on the GFX 50S II. Music by @kiefdaddysupreme
Lovely walk together around Chicago, a city sadly I've never been to but would love to see one day. Kyle D 95% sold me on the mitakon, this video may have nudged me over the edge, but might have to include gym membership within the package. Nice frames within the vid. Looking forward to the comparison video with the 63mm before i make my final choice :) Keep the good work up brother! 😊
I bought this before owning any gfx cameras because I heard it was so good. It hasn't let me down and it's my favourite lens. Have you tried the ttartisan 90mm 1.2 for the gfx? its suppose to be just as good. Maybe you can do a review on this lens and compare it to the Mitakon 65 please.
I just bought this lens and when I put it on my camera I can't take photos. Do you know what option I have to enable from the camera for it to work?. Thank you!!!
Just this lens in particular or other manual lenses? For lenses without electronic contacts like the Mitakon, you need to go into Settings > Camera and ensure that Shoot without Lens is enabled.
recently got myself the Mitakon. i am having a problem where the preview in the viewfinder/LCD is way too bright on a sunny day when i open up the aperture all the way. the taken image turns out fine in terms of exposure, but the preview is overexposed. i tried playing around with the exposure preview settings and "natural live view" in the menu. but no change. am i missing something here?
This is good, old-fashioned storytelling. Combine that delivery with camera tastiness and I am delighted to have found this channel!
Thanks!!! I appreciate you letting me know.
Walking through Chicago with a $5K camera. That was daring! LOL!
😂😂 Daring or dumb?? Not sure which, but I made it!!

Thanks! I’m leaning toward keeping both!!
Which lens stayed in the camera bag?
Thanks for the video, i thought at the start that the Pentax lens (which one?) gave a better look to the images IMO.
Thanks for writing. Yeah, the Pentax Super Multi Coated Takumar 55mm 1.8f is a great little lens.

I’ve not used the 90mm, but I did review the 85mm. I’ll look into the 90mm. Thanks! czcams.com/video/VLGlTbabaho/video.html
I'm so close to jumping ship to the gfx system though i can't afford the new offerings I'd have to go with the original 50
You won’t regret it. I recently switched to the 50R and LOVE it.
Go Bears! Lens looks great 👍
Great video and images! Quick question how do you focus? Do you use focus peaking and focus check point?
Thanks! Yes, focus peaking 100%! I prefer “high” and “red”.
@@WoodenAxle thanks do you find you miss focus sometimes...
What adapter you use for Pentax 55mm (medium format lens?) to Fuji GFX?
Mitakon though needs no adapter?
The Mitakon is made for the camera, so no adapter needed. I use a M42 to EOS adapter and then an EOS to GF adapter for the Takumar.
Haha! From one dad to another; don't complain about the weight, get to the gym and grow those muscles more!
😂 I hear ya, I hear ya!
Looks so great,in China its hard to shot those amazing images.high buildings everywhere and air is dusty
Thanks! Yes, I bet it is a bit of a challenge. However, you can make amazing images there of some things there I’ll never see!
I have some feeling, like me, you’ll keep both 🙂
Ha! I think you may be right!!!
I've used it and its nice, but I prefer the IRIX 45mm 1.4 try it !
I’ll give it a look!
I saw on frosts review that the irix is very soft wide open. Do you notice that?
yes but not super soft @@Jgheiler
I have gfx50s and mitakon 65mm. When plugged the camera says f0. Is it normal?
I’d say yes, since it’s a manual aperture lens. I’ll check mine and see.
The lens is "dumb" no electrical connection… So how could the camera "know" what aperture is dialed in… The exposure is measured by working aperture…
beautiful frames
Thank you my brother

OH NO! I’ve not heard of this happening! Where did you purchase the lens?

Do you have your camera set to mechanical and electronic shutter?
@@WoodenAxle yes
