    Lombard: “The Normans have arrived!”
Byzantine: “Don’t worry lads, we’ll send them back to France- when did this castle get built?”
Lombard: “Oh the Norman’s built it on Tuesday.”
    Byzantine: “Can you come out?”
    Norman: “No.”

The full episode? We eating good on History Bro 😂
One of my favourite castles / ruins I’ve been to is dunstanburgh castle, the entire area is gorgeous. Although the worst smell of the ocean I ever smelled was in the cliff behind the castle, it had hundreds of seagulls nesting and the salt of the sea was so immense.

Glad to learn what makes a real castle. These are all wonderful. Caernarfon Castle is quite jaw dropping in both size and condition.
We visited The Tower of London and another ruins that was supposed to be King Arthur's Castle though I can't remember where in 1978. Thank you.

Dubrovnik is also worth a visit. The scale of the walls is incredible. In Split you can visit Diocletian's palace.
    Bit touristy though in Dubrovnik.

More city walls than pure castles but Carcassonne in southern France is mind blowing and Suwon in South Korea is on a massive scale.

From what I remember, when the ottomans took Constantinople in the 15th century, their famous cannons couldn't even dent the theodosian walls. I can't imagine trying to siege comparable battlements with a trebuchet

If we could muster the full strength of Shadiversity subscribers to launch a crusade for Syria, there could be a Mormon crusader state that used the Krak de Chevalier as it's capital.

I visited about 100 castles thus far and I would recommend you to look into more European castles like Czech ones. For example Karlštejn Castle which is one of the most iconic castles it was built to house crown jewls of HRE and Bohemia or Bouzov castle in Moravia which was one of the last seat of Teuton order. Another is Křivoklát one of bigger royal castles and Zvíkov which was built on ancient hillfort and it can bee seen to this day. Or Trosky name is literally translated as ruins which is ruin of castles built on two volcanic plugs you can visit it in kingdom come 2. Then there is Bezděz which is best representation of gothic castle.Another castles are Kost, Bítov, Loket, Perštejn, Konopiště (home of the Franz Ferdinand d este), Jindřichův Hradec and many more. I visited almost every major one in Czech Republic and i think you will find some which you would like
