  • GIK Acoustics shows how to best hang our GIK Acoustic 242 Acoustic Panels, 244 Bass Traps, and Monster Bass Traps on walls and in corners. All of these acoustic panels come with pre-installed eyehooks seated in the rear frame. A feature of our FlexRange Series includes an air gap which allows for deeper frequency absorption and hanging flush to the wall. Acoustic panels are perfect for hanging in corners to reduce bass buildup and on walls at reflection points to mitigate comb filtering, noise reduction, stereo imaging smearing, and echo.
    We look at our preferred hardware to use, and a quick how-to guide on measuring and hanging acoustic panels on walls and in corners.

    For other OCD people attempting to hang these with picture wire, I would recommend picking up a hook and eye turnbuckle from the hardware store for each panel you’re going to hang. This gives you the ability to tighten/loosen the picture wire without having to start over for small adjustments in height on wall.

    • @GIKAcousticsLLC
      @GIKAcousticsLLC  Před 3 lety +1

      You will want to make sure you are absorbing the first reflections that will travel to the ear initially, so a good rule is to hang a 2'x4' panel 2 feet from the bottom of the panel to the floor to ensure adequate coverage. Of course this may depend on the features of the room or wall, which is why we have created several different shapes for each product, allowing you to make sure you can place your panels in the right areas with the appropriate amount of absorption.

      An air gap of 1.5 inches maximizes the effectiveness of the acoustic material. We have designed our panels with a built-in air-gap on our 242 Acoustic Panels, 244 Bass Traps, and Monster Bass Traps to allow the product to sit flush against the wall but give the benefits of an air gap.

      Aslong as u don't Exceed the thickness of your panel so if you have a 2" panel only go 2 inches from the wall if you have a 4" panel only go 4" from the wall.

    When mounting in corners, how do you determine how long to make the picture wire for each Ook hook?
    I hung mine but it was a lot of guessing and redoing; I had placed the marks 14” from the corner as suggested but had to guess on the hook height and wire length

    What about the Monster Bass Trap horizontally? I don't want the wires to be visible

    • @GIKAcousticsLLC
      @GIKAcousticsLLC  Před 3 lety

      Yes, you can tie the wires tighter so they don't show. The air gap on the back will allow the panel to sit flush on the wall. You can absolutely hang the panels horizontally as well, but may need to specify this during checkout.

    Just tried this and the wires tightened up like guitar strings, making a noisy mess. Definitely not recommending this method
