Deadwood should have never been canceled. HBO sucks for not giving them at least 5 or 6 seasons.
Deadwood was great BECAUSE it was cancelled and had not overstayed to become another boring soap.
@@shmishash I agree with you to a point. I think if they'd have done 1 more season before cancelling it, it would have wrapped it up nicely.
The movie was a really poor attempt at finishing the story. Now they're going to milk Raylan Givens.
@@shmishash The third season wasnt as good as the first two, you could see the decline.
David Milch f’d up pushing John From Cinn & told HBO they could end Deadwood after 3 seasons & finally HBO said OK.
Justified and Deadwood. Two fantastic shows. Give Olyphant all the fast-drawing characters with badges that he wants.
How about as Cobb Vance in Star Wars. 🤓😎✌🏻
Have you seen the new Justified series. I was totally disappointed. I couldn't get past 30 minutes of the first episode.
This.
I have a theory Raylan is a descendant of Seth bullock!
@@paulsarnik8506 We will see Cobb again! I can feel it!
Grittiest, rawest show EVER.
Olyphant’s nuanced acting, showing both courage and vulnerable tenderness, was simply astounding. Acting by the whole cast was astounding.
Remember The Deer Hunter!!?? Film vs. TV, but that's a masterpiece.
Love Olyphant, but wasn't fully convinced by his acting at all types of scenes in Deadwood. Besides Ian's Swearengen, my favourite performances were E.B. by Sanderson and Doc Cochran by Dourif
@@edm781Deer Hunter is great. Why was that brought into the conversation here?
Thanks for the support. It's my out most pleasure having you here, thanks for your support you have been giving me all these years, I won't be here if not for you my lovely fan. I hope you find joy and happiness in my movies? I will have to call you My Super Fan.
Timothy…Shocked you need to use to-English translation software.
There are good shows, there are great shows, and then there is Deadwood. I have never found anything quite like it since.
I should really go back and try to finish Deadwood. I watched one season and quit and I can normally finish any series that features Timothy Olyphant!
@@saramarie516Justified
Hear hear
@@esteban1487not even close.
@ethanhoward1977 You're right. I've seen both and Justified is a lot better.
Timmy is probably one of my favorite actors. He's such a cool guy.
He really got my attention in Scream 2
What was that movie where is was a superb villain. Not worth the squeeze. First time I ever saw him. He was electric and so cool. That whole movie is frickn great.
Girl Next Door...
I knew Timmy when he was 8 years old. We both grew up in Modesto and used to swim in the same pool.
Thanks! Great cute movie.
The underrated Deadwood character that gets overlooked? Doc.
He needs to make Hitman 3
Brad Dourif has always been a spectacular actor. I loved what he did with Doc's character.
The scene where's breaking down and yelling at God while drunk is one of the greatest performances ever. But I still think Jane is the most underrated
Doc..worm tongue in lord of the rings. Fine actor
I’d assume most fans of the show don’t overlook Doc. One of the best actors and most likeable character. I’d say Tom Nuttall or Johnny get overlooked in my opinion
Deadwood was just incredible and it's cancellation incomprehensible. Tim Olyphant laughing reminded me of how many scenes were just deleriously funny, the characters amazing and not just the principals. The show created remarkable gems of side characters as well.
Yeah there should have been 6 seasons of that show. Honestly it is beyond belief why anyone would cancel a show this good, this well acted, this well directed, and this well written. Like what are you putting in its place? Seriously?
Justified was massively underrated. Tremendously well written, compelling, full of twists and turns, excellent casting.
Agree…even better the second time through…’We dug coal together’ always gets me.
I loved that show
Six seasons, 8 Emmy nominations with 2 wins. Great show, not underrated.
Critically acclaimed. I'm not sure I'd say underrated, maybe underseen, if that is a word. So many people I know haven't seen it. Seems to be a curse with FX shows. The Shield was the same way.
@@paulsmith9198 The Shield is another...so true...maybe underseen is a better term. Both are classic shows that were excellent. Justified had some of the best dialogue I've seen in a show.
I have difficulty deciding whether Deadwood, The Wire or Band of Brothers are the greatest shows ever made and Deadwood usually is the winner but its so hard to make that decision in the moment. And my hat off to Timothy cause he was so awesome, but I firmly believe that Ian McShane playing Swearengen is the single greatest performance of the greatest character that has ever been written for a TV show or Movie.
maybe. its definitely epic.
its a tie between sopranos, deadwood and true detective (which only got 1 season)
True detective season 1, Fargo season 2, better call Saul season 3
Deadwood and The Wire are definitely in my top 10. Probably top 5
I will help you decide, it's The Sopranos. 😁
I always loved the moments where the whole settlement came together. Hickock's murder, William's accident, the Garret-Ellsworth wedding, Amateur Night, and of course Tom Nuttall's bicycle ride!
"Through the quagmire".
Don’t forget EBs soliloquies:
Madam, in the chambers of my heart beats a love for every crooked timber of this shitbox of a structure, this building. This building, its warped floorboards and...
Those who doubt me can…
Great storyteller and actor, and has the best hair.
I think deadwood is the greatest show ever. The writing is top notch. The sets and designs were fanominal. And the casting...NAILED IT
*phenomenal
YUP.
Also, this story has been well documented and told. It was the kids parents who just WOULD not play ball with the working hours and pay agreements for the young actor. The actor himself was reportedly great.
Was it Seth's nephew?
Makes sense.. Oh and by "pay agreements for the young actor" you mean probably FOR the parents. 😂
It had to have been the nephew.
@@J.Artan6 since he called out "kill the kid", it has to be him.
Kristen Bell and her "brother" were taken out by Cy, but their story seemed to have been completed.
The actor was terrific in the role. It's usually the parents or the agents who screw things up. Too bad for him, though. This is the first I heard of this story so it's fun to get it from the horse's mouth.
I loved Deadwood and Justified. So many great characters in both shows.
Every few year I watch all of Deadwood, an incredible show.
Me too!
Deadwood and Rome ❤
I am amazed he can rattle all of this off so well. I always thought actors sort of don't understand how the scenes all fit together. One of my favorite shows, character and actors.
What a treat.
It’s funny how laid back and funny Timothy is and how stern and angry and generally unfunny Seth Bullock was. As a hardcore Deadwood devotee since the pilot aired back when…I have loved me some Olyphant. I’ve grown to love his Raylan Givens character because he’s laid back and funny at moments and stern and cold as ice in other moments.
Unfunny??! Bullock was dry hilariousness itself. He was the funniest character in the show. (Absolutely one of the best series ever to air, btw)
Tim Olyphant is just too cool. And what an actor👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Timothy Olyphant is always great in an interview! He seems to have such a great personality. I bet he would be fun to sit down and chat with all day long!
why would he want to talk to you . . . all day long?
@@RingJando I didn't say he would. 🙄
Deadwood should not have been cancelled, but the 2019 movie did a fantastic job bringing everything to a satisfying close.
I just wish they’d been able to make it before Powers Boothe died. Tolliver was such a great, scumbag character, it would’ve been nice to see an actual wrap up for him.
The writing and storylines of Deadwood were amazing. Loved the characters and the use of the vernacular in the dialogues. Brilliant!
He’s the man! Love all his stuff. Especially Justified and Cob Vanth in Mandalorian
Would love to see a Dirty Harry remake with Tim as Detective Callahan
I can see that
I walked out of the theater seeing the Red Dawn and Point Break remakes. If done right Olyphant could definitely pull that role off
Interesting.....
If anyone cares, he voiced "Clint Eastwood" in Rango
Maybe, but there are plenty of good cop stories since that series, for example Justified.
One of my favorite actors So underrated!! Deadwood canceled way too soon!
Deadwood. Whatta series!
One of the best series ever. Timothy’s mustachioed grimace really made his character pop. Could not stop watching.
Still have not watched Deadwood but I have watched at least 30 hours of Timothy Olyphant being interviewed. Funniest person I have never met.
Do yourself a favor and watch....not safe for the kids however.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. I still love it.
Deadwood is not only my favourite ever show but it basically has every actor I love from all my favourite other shows 😂
Loved Deadwood. Great story!
Bullock was good, but Al Swearengin was the best character ever. Oh, and I loved Powers Booth's character too. Swearengin was loveable but Cy Tolliver was the most cold hearted, mean spirited bastard ever.
Swedgin/Wu Hang dai!
Powers Booth was a great actor. have you seen Extreme Prejudice with Nick Nolte ? Solid film.
The Tolliver character was there to make you love Al, who was good and sympathetic by comparison, and it worked.
@@cdputzier"C*CKSUCKA!"
"Dont believe there's no good women till you've seen one with maggots in her eyes"..........Quote, Cy Tolliver, Owner and proprietor of the Bella Union Saloon.
I love Olyphant, it is always a joy to watch his material. Justified was cream of the crop. I would love to see Anson Mount and Olyphant do a movie about gunslingers whether it was a western or a mobster/lawman movie whatever just something they were buddies in and could play off each other.
Timothy Olyphant tells a damn good story.
He’s one of the best Conan Obrien guests ever; every time Conan and Tim get together it’s always hilarious
I love Timothy and the way he retells a story!❤HILARIOUS!
He's such a good actor. I just took for granted that he was like his characters. I never would have expected him to be so fun in an interview.
Justified, Deadwood, and literally the coolest Mandalorian character that doesn't wear armor, or have midiclorians.
Never seen Deadwood, but Olyphant was excellent in Justified . Watched all the seasons 4 or 5 times . One of my top 5 favorite actors.
You, sir, are doing yourself a massive disservice. If you like Justified you’ll love Deadwood
Greatest show, so many amazing characters. Incredible writing. I quote this show quite a bit.
A wonderful series. Perfect casting. Loved it. Will re-watch now, having hear this ...
Funny my wife and I just finished rewatching Deadwood. One of my favorite shows.
I loved this series! Great actors, great cussing& story telling😊
Just when I imagine I could not love Tim and Deadwood more ...This....❤❤❤❤ My favorite HBO show. So underappreciated.
As a Piano tuner -technician for 48 years I never forgot the scene where the piano arrives and nobody seemed to know who ordered it. Then when all the girls were around it listening to the piano player, the owner yelled something like : THIS PIANO IIS KILLING BUSINESS! Something like that anyway. My favorite character was POWERS BOOTH as he stoled many scenes!
I saw Powers Boothe in 1974 at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He really commanded the stage!
Deadwood is one of those shows that is so good and well written that you really have no idea who the main character is the entire first season. Sure it starts with Bullock hanging a guy, but soon as he gets to Deadwood i think ian mcshane literally has like 3x the screentime and dialogue of anyone else. Its everyones show, were just look lucky to witness really
Yup, I remember watching it weekly on Thursday nights
This was such an awesome show. It still sucks it ended so soon.
it does suck that it ended so soon
but I've grown to appreciate that the show started and ended with Trixie shooting someone (not counting the movie)
An insane amount of talent in that show... To this day, if I want to get rid of someone I will tell a friend "Here's 5 dollars, take this guy out and feed him to Woo's pigs" Nobody could deliver that line like
Al Swearingen........
Ian McShane in "Lovejoy" was awesome. Great actor.
@@terrygoyan3022Manager of Continental wasn't a bad gig either. 🤷♂️
This is actually pretty freaking cool to hear this story. Easily the best show of my early adulthood.
I love Justified and Raylan and am right now watching the show all over again; enjoying it just as much as i did the first time...I miss the show...and Walter ...as Boyd Crowder. The entire cast were amazing.
Timothy is an amazing actor and person!!
Deadwood was one of my top 5 series of all time..
Just finished this show last week for the first time and I can not give this show more praise. It is without a doubt the best writing I’ve seen in a series.
A timeless classic that is a MUST-WATCH for anyone who considers themselves connoisseur of tv.
It is in my top 3 all time shows if not the best. I’ve never rewatched a series before shortly after finishing it.
And my god that final scene of the movie. Wow, just wow. Perfect line to capture the whole show.
I love Tim so much.
Great show, great actors, infinite rewatch
This guy has great chemistry with Conan O'Brien. He's a great interview generally. .o
He has great chemistry with everyone.
They are actually good friends in real life a d they and their wives hang out when they can.
Deadwood was incredible. I wished it went in longer. The characters were amazing.
Timothy Olyphant is always such an entertaining guest!
"What the %$#* was this show gonna be about?"😂
Probably just straight historical characters. But then got side tracked into the secondary characters plots cause of the writing and how well the actors for those characters were performing.
One of my favorite shows of all time
The writing that crafted some of the monologues is dam’n near Shakespeare. I’m bingeing now and loving it all!!!
It's only during the last week have I actually seen Deadwood. A little late to the party. I've made up for it by binge watching all 3 seasons and the movie in the space of a few days. Great writing, casting and acting. Even the characters that would be considered minor are gold.
I remember first seeing him in Go, and also the same character in The Girl Next Door. Chicks love Olyphant
I loved Deadwood and I'm going to watch it again!
Looks like after we finish watching Justified (love it so much!!) we will be watching Deadwood. I can’t wait
Olyphant can flat out tell a story.
The greatest show ever put to film, and it's not even close.
Never seen deadwood... but I HAVE to watch it now.
I have all three seasons. Incredible series.
Very enlightening
Damn rich knows good tv. This was awesome to watch, i enjoyed this interview muchos.
Gotta love Tim. Fun actor
That’s great. Deadwood is my all time favorite shows
Always been a fan of this guy!
The greatest walk in cinema
Yeppers❤
What an actor in the perfect role of badass and deep feelings.
Should’ve never cancelled this show
Great show loved it!😊
Aaaah, love it
The best show ever. I have watched it over and over. wish they would make a come back and add more seasons. Timothy you were great.🤠 J>-W->
Such a great actor!
Deadwood. One of the greatest shows ever.
Seasons 1 and 2 have some of the most unique, witty and smart dialogue of any show I’ve seen.
When I see Olyphant in anything it always piques my interest.. Great actor. 👍
Timothy Olyphant is awesome!!
I became an admirer of Olyphant when he did the voice acting for one of the members of the US Delta Force team in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (with the other two members of the Delta Team being William Fitchner and Idris Elba).
David Milch stories about Deadwood literally never fail to be amazing.
I'm listening to his audiobook right now. It's incredible. Truly a mad genius
What a legacy, huh? Incredible talent.
This is trippy. I was reading about this last night
As a 58 year old Heterosexual man. Everytime I see Timothy I question my own sexuality. Man the Gene pool rewards some and curses others.
That's pathetic.
@@jonlanier_ Reported for hate speech.
David Milch is the most erudite, intelligent, and interesting person I've ever heard interviewed. Was crushed when Luck was cancelled after the first season. That and Deadwood are two of my all time favourite series.
No show ever caused me to sit on the edge of my seat and binge-watch more than one season of a series in my life. No show except THIS show.
Deadwood was criminally cut short and very underrated show. Great cast.
I pretty much like him in anything he has been in. Loved Justified, and the sheriff in Mandalorian
What a show!
Just started watching it again for about the 5 th time at least with friends that haven’t seen it and think how lucky they are that they didn’t have to wait 10 years for the movie come out . I was sooooooo pissed they way it was canceled
A great deadwood back story, and well explained.
One of the best story lines to come late in the series was Brian Cox as Jack Langrish the owner and actor of the travelling stage group/show. He stole every scene he was in. The best is when he and Swearingin would talk. Classic.
What was the kid's name in the show
@@vibeofthee80s_ William Bullock, played by Josh Eriksson - apparently one of his parents was a real PITA. They got him fired.
DEADWOOD, the show and the movie, it's perfect. I thought it was perfect without the movie, but it was *chef's kiss*
The actor who played William Bullock, Josh Eriksson, only acted one other time in his career. He did an episode of the show Numbers and never worked again. He must have had those annoying show bizz parents that bothered directors.
Epitome of cool.
