I'm loving this series, but I must admit I'm looking forward to the recap almost as much as progress on the build. Lol thanks!
Lol, Jim, the first recap was going to be serious but I couldn't help myself when I went to record the voiceover and now they have a life of their own!
I found this whole series uplifting.
It has it's ups and downs
And this episode was simply electrifying!
I absolutely love the high quality humor of this series. Do you write your own material or is the wife responsible????
It's me, when she misses me she hangs out in the office while I edit, she's funny as heck and gives insight. Our marriage is 50% laughter. Thanks Jon!
Feeling right at home with the attitude, antics in the shop, and the build approach. Loving this series. Dogs are great costars👍
I wouldn't have anything without those dogs! Shop would be robbed blind, they also make great family. Thanks Steven!
Haha so glad I found your channel. You are great at explaining your process but your humor is the best. Thank you.
I really love your videos. My only wish is a special with the band saw just cutting peaces a half an hour.
I just found your channel sir. I didn't know they were popular out here in the valley, the ground is so hard must have been pretty expensive to put in. Keep up the great content!
Love watching your band saw cut by irritation
Lol Mark, usually those bands snap but this one lives to irritate.
I'm going to have withdrawal without new episodes. Just found your channel a few hours ago and its great! You're hilarious and very intelligent.
Good timing for a bunker renovation. Considering current events...
You could extend the wiring for the limit switch and get rid of the mechanical linkage ......and a bit of silicone when feeding wires through tight spaces - just a little bit though.
This series is full of up's and downs, but you have to take the lows with the highs
Lol Nicholas, and the dad jokes come out!
Why am I so invested in this series 🤣🤣 Can't wait for the next episode 😊😊😊
I'm also invested in it!
I get a "This Old Tony" vibe from your style. Well done!
Dyadica, I'm hearing that, I'd never heard of him before you guys said something. Thanks Dyadica!
I get an "AvE before the patreon went to his head" vibe
Great episode, I noticed that you used the mamajama hexa-quarts instead of a more traditional Gloop jade yoni egg. Like the hand sanitizer, that was likely a safer choice. Congratulations on hitting 10k, I look forward to your future adventures! 👏
I had to since they outlawed the Gloop jade yoni eggs for too many cfcs. Thanks Wayon!
YES! Recycling painters tape from the fire pants! We are similar people, Sir.
There was a lot of good tape there! Wife says I'm the greenest person she knows because I reuse everything. I'm just cheap. Thanks Jowah!
I just binge watched this whole bunker series! Looking forward to the installation of the elevator and seeing some old furniture go up and out of the bunker.
I love cleaning stuff with hand sanitizer. A lot of them are just gelled IPA, so they stick around for a while without immediately evaporating yet they leave very little residue on their own
Link in description now incase you want the best in Germ-X!
Fun sense of humor.
I like you video style. Not stop dad jokes are great.
Dude! Your music choices especially during certain segments like at 10:26 crack me up. Perfect choices to set the tone.
Jon, the wife walked in while I was reviewing that scene and she started laughing with tears in her eyes, I knew it was ready. Thanks Man!
Great work 👏 👍 🇬🇧
Another great video! If I may be so bold, I'd like to give you a suggestion for your shop inventory; LACQUER THINNER!
Want to remove sharpie layout lines? LACQUER THINNER!
Need to clean up paint over-spray? LACQUER THINNER! Want to clean/ prep metal for paint? LACQUER THINNER!
It's so good, you'll wonder how you worked without it!
Good conversion for an old circuit breaker lift into an elevator.
Thanks CJ! Nice catch. I didn't know what it was until someone commented.
This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your mad skills! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love the humor. You're channel will rapidly grow. Glad to be here early at 11.5k
Made my day, I hope so!
@@HerbOMatic glad I made your day.
I love the dogs they are awesome.
Thanks Al, they are family and protectors.
Fantastic build so far, but hopefully, you're also thinking about a ladder for those "just in case the power goes out" days or maybe some kinda battery backup?
Grandma has to go without her TV dinner tonight so you can have a portable workbench. Maybe you can console her with a little Germ X(tm) brand hand sanitizer? Also, +1 for garage pissbucket
Lmao, my dude you are hilarious 😂. Not that the subject matter isn't interesting you make it even more fun.
Great Channel. Love your humor.
Thanks so much Charles!
A great episode and most amusing :) On a serious note, steel wire rope wears and may look fine on the outside but degrades internally for numerous reasons. A load test is required on commercial lifts and is worth considering along with a rope schedule.
A wire change schedule is a good Idea, along with changing the SRL on a regular schedule. Thanks 1940s Radio!
Oh man my back was hurting just watching you maneuver that tray on to the table lol
Yeah, I try to lift with just my back in a twisting jerking motion!
@@HerbOMatic lol
Divided by a big puddle but same wacky sense of humour 🤪🤪 so glad I found you laters chuckles. Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks Gary, glad to know you!
I feel like I am watching This Old Tony's brother or something. I'm loving this channel.
Thanks Brian, there's been a few that said that! I didn't know who he was until someone mentioned him a few weeks ago!
love that exit !
Damn, this series is addicting! Great work and I cannot wait for the next one! Thank you 😎
Easily becoming my favourite youtube channel! Laughed till my stomach hurt. hahaha cant wait for the next episode!
I'm glad Johnathan, it makes the work worth it!
These videos are worth watching for the recap intro alone.
Thanks Mark!
The little ferrel on the stranded wires is there to stop all of the strands from breaking when you tighten the connector. I have lots of larger sized ferrels but always run out of the little ones. So I use crimp connectors. I cut the end off and just use the crimp end of it as a ferrel
Also you should never tin wires that are going into screw terminals - over time, the solder flows even though it's cold (it's a soft alloy) and your connections loosen up. Tinning wires going into screw terminals is a BIG NO NO
That's a good Idea in a pinch, I don't have those ferrules at all, I need to order a little set of Amazon.
Yes, they are there for fire safety. Stranded & soldered ends deform and due to stranding you get resistance that creates heat then melts stuff. Use ferrules to reassemble...
The style of this make me think about Old Tony. But you actually make stuff! Cold steel need humor to make it fit.👍
I've had about 5 comments about Old Tony and I'd never heard of him. I just watched his video about turning a cube on a lathe, I got the joke long after I should have! Thanks Mikael!
This old tony makes stuff. I think you're thinking of AvE, back when he used to actually make things, or tear stuff apart and critique it, you know, pre-patreon - now I think he just lives on the patreon money and hardly ever does anything of any interest, or hardly even releases videos for that matter.
Enjoying the series, but I'll be the party pooper who says soldiering stranded wire for crimps or screw terminals isn't the safest route.
As current passes through, the connection will warm up, the solder will weaken a bit and the connection will loosen a bit, over time that can lead shorts/sparks/fires.
Currently (ha) a bit of fuss going on in the 3D printing community as cheaper machines do this, and more expensive ones use crimped ferrules.
Stay safe!
I did not know that Matt, I will look into ordering ferrules. Airing my projects results in a ton of feedback like this that helps me in the future, thanks man!
You beat me to it, I was gonna say the same thing. If you don't know, it seems like a good idea to tin them, I've done it before too. Turns out, our instincts aren't always right.
That's s low current control circuit, so solder is fine. For circuits with a higher current draw, crimp eyes, spade, splice, etc, would be preferable. Thomas & Betts, AMP, and 3M are excellent products to use.
@@danielcotnoir3363 It may not be a danger, but it's not fine. That's like saying "looking directly in the barrel of a gun and pulling the trigger is fine, as long as it isn't loaded". Sure, as long as you're very sure it's not a problem, but it's still not a good idea to be comfortable with something that could be dangerous in a different situation.
Also, the current may be low, but that doesn't prevent the solder from deforming over time, resulting in a bad connection. Maybe less dangerous on a low current circuit, but still pretty darn annoying if you're halfway up the elevator and it stops working because the connection was broken due to the solder.
@@timderks5960 your gun analogy may be the most ridiculous choice you could have made. I built, installed, and tested traffic systems for the railroad for twenty years, and have been working with electricity for another twenty five years on top of that. I wouldn't share information on such a thing without having first hand knowledge on it.
That being said, I'd love to hear about your experience, less the ridiculous analogy.
Love the smiley face 😂
It created a weird optical illusion! Thanks Norm!
"Portable work bench" lol
Yeah that TV tray is scary😬
They are for small jobs like a Banquet, nothing like a Hungry Man.
Thankyou for this series I'm loving it 😘
You got it Neil! Thanks for the love!
Excellent angle grinder safety as usual....
I still got my front teeth, safety check!
I have no idea how I found your channel near the start of this build but I am glad I did, I look forward to your videos and get excited when I see a new one up. Thanks for all the work you put into these.
Thank you, I appreciate that, they are work but it's worth it knowing they get people going!
im looking forward to tracking down where all that electrical goes
Cant wait for the next one very good fabricator
Thanks Ron, I'm working on it!
Literally I'm subscribing just because of the intro... cracks me up
It would be easier to just make a bunch of intros! Thanks Shane!
@@HerbOMatic very true...
10:25 had me laughing so hard with that music. I was for sure you were going over the side.
Absolutely loving this channel? Found you about a week ago. New subscriber. Love your perfect mixture of education and humor. Get ready for 100k it won't be long!
I hope 100k happens! This is a dream job, thank you for the sub @hoffmanshaven !
@@HerbOMatic better get ready, LOL. I bet it won't be a year. I've binged watched your entire collection. Excellent!
Excellent.
I thought I was listening to an episode of 'Speed Racer' in the background at first.
OMG I was laughing so hard at your sarcasm. Thanks for the videos.
You got it mike!
👍☑️ Congrats on 10k, you deserve many, many more. Love your sense of humor man, please don't stop!
I appreciate it! I won't stop, if dinking in the shop can be a living I'm sure going to reach for it!
@@HerbOMatic gonna fill you life with likes and 👍☑️ for the algorithms from now on, You don't need to respond to every 👍☑️!
Here's a Vegas styled bunker, "A Real "Blast from the Past" Bomb Shelter".
Thanks Symour, it's a fun project thanks for watching!
@@HerbOMatic Search YT for the quote and you get the bunker built for the man who owned Avon Cosmetics, which looks nothing like a bunker inside more like a holiday home for 50 or more.
For your limit switch you should have just removed the switch from the winch extend the wires and put the switch at the top of your elevator and made it adjustable so you can get the height perfect
16:22 To this day one of the best purchases I've made was a quality pair of automatic wire strippers. Having proper tools makes life so much easier!
I've had junk one but I thought they were cool but they didn't last. I'll have to upgrade one day!
i love how he said “I got the data plate on, so we don’t void the warranty” because not having the data plate would void the warranty and not the fact that you almost doubled the height of the lift.
Maybe they won't notice that it's a little longer.
Loving these videos!! Keep them coming.
This i where your channel blows up!
Two times recomended to me without subscribing.
I'm now subscribed. Btw love your sence of humor. Greetings from Sweden!
@Johannes Lang, glad we could meet from 8675km away! I appreciate the Sub
@@HerbOMatic I'm glad that you use the correct measurement if distance.
You're welcome
you should get that old all American five going again with original parts
Looks like a gardener (green thumb)
As usual hilarious and educational :)
I appreciate it Etienne!
This is awesome
Thanks Waylon!
Can't hardly wait for the next video. Congrats on 10k subs!
Thanks @bellatype, I appreciate it! I'm working on the next episode now!
Awesome!!!!! Waiting for this for so long
Thanks Azhar! I'm getting faster with the Compooter
Ok Ok your jokes sealed the deal, good luck! WE ARE WATCHING
Thanks Jack! I told my wife they were gold, this channel is just to prove it to her!
@@HerbOMatic Ok...I edit "we are watching" to YOUR wife is watching mwahah
Ok, coming together very nicely... I would suggest however you put in a wrap around hand rail (sides and back) to be able hold onto.
The following also occurred to me; if you are inside and going up to open the closed hatch... if something fails, it could crush you between the hatch and lift deck! That is, long before it kills the power when the deck gets to the top of the rails.
By the way, since you haven't mentioned it, have you taken out the junk, got rid of the webs and bombed the bugs and spiders out of existence yet?
I am really enjoying this series. I look forward to seeing how your going to get that monster into the hole.
Also, about how much does that cart with the gate weigh? Say a 200 LB person gets on the lift, what is the total weight that would be on the hoist?
I'm a dude and I crack up every time he zooms in on his junk!
Junk is funny, nothing we can do about it!
Looking great man! Keep up the awesome work and congrats on the 10K subs!
Thanks Joshua! I'll keep grinding them out
Wow, you were right there at the limit switch and could have relocated it to the top of the lift. hmm It's literally the same process as extending the motor control switch. I guess this is one of those "lead a horse to water" situations.
I am guessing that you will have a standby / emergency ladder mounted on one side of the shaft as well?
You have my permission to have your own show! LoL. Great job! Very funny stuff. Love your since of humor 😂
Thanks Chef Bobby! I hope this grows into a show here on CZcams!
@@HerbOMatic I’ll do my part☺️
Which brings us to our next point...ventilation is important when using aerosols.
Yeah that will work fine until the EMP hits , good idea though
Instead of trying to set up all the linkage you could have installed a limit switch and just ran two wires to the top would have been a lot easier
Ok you just gained a new subscriber, Lol... I have been following your stuff on and off but this episode made me go Yup.. I found a good creator one who knows how to keep us entertained.. Thank you Sir..
Thanks YOU major! Thanks for subbing up!
I look forward to this series it makes my day 🤠
Thanks Pcnoob, glad it's bringing a few laughs!
Nice build series, but don't tin the wire ends the tin will cold flow and the wire will have a bad connection and eventually the connector will overheat. Use wire ferrules instead.
I'm worried about that now! I'll have to order the ferrules. Thanks Alex!
@@HerbOMatic Yes definitely, they are very cheap and good to use in all situation where a stranded wire is clamped directly with a screw, som years ago I was having two switches partially melted because of the tinned wire ends, luckily no fire.!
great vedios just fond and had to watch all and sucribe keep them coming
Thanks Matt, working on the next one now!
Just finished watching a few parts to this an Subscribed a hour ago. good timing.
Welcome aboard Mickey!
hopefully the next upload doesn't take 12 days 😄
Me too!
[16:22] LOL, I have used a pair of those for almost 35 years.... I think they are great. BUT by this time the stripping holes are pretty worn and sloppy, so I had to by a new pair which reversed the stripping and crimping areas. I hate it. I prefer the leverage I had on the old ones. (the "pull' on the old ones is from near the hand, and not near the end of the tool on the new ones.)
You got more tools and hardware than Home Depot!
Jim, that's the game of life, get more than Home Depot then you win! I'm not there yet! Thanks Man!
Damn! We don't have GermX in Scotland. I'm going to have to try different brands.
I don't know Michael, Other brands try, GermX does! Do it with GermX
Hi. I dont know why you dont make limit switch up, but you make this long steel bar. there is some why you make this way? thanks good luck with the project.
And i thought AvE brought the jokes but you are putting on a stand up routine.
Thanks ucity, AVE is pretty funny.
pleeeeease let me send you some band saw blades ahahaha
Jamie, it's working great! I set it cutting and when I wake up its done!
@@HerbOMatic oh jesus
Longer wire lower gauge, due to resistance.
That's what ended up happening, thanks James!
When r u going to do more of ur bunker videos I love watching them
Hey William, I'm working on it right now!
I like that wedding ring. Is it easy to cut off if something happens? Currently I take off my titanium one whenever I am working with tools. I learned from experience it's not a smart thing to have on when working.
It's a silicone ring, I forget I even have it on. They come in a pack of several, I'll throw a link in the description if you want to grab a set. Much safer than my tungsten one, I still bring out the real one on dates with the wife. Thanks Will!
@@HerbOMatic Thanks. Would be nice to have one to wear while working and not have to worry about taking off my finger.
Radioactive karate doggo
That makes me the Middle-aged mutant ninja wacko
For pulling wire and sliding on strain reliefs and grommets you can also use some dish soap with a little water, cheaper than lube.
As for your yellow handle crimp tool, I have used the exact same one for thirty years with zero problems. The best thing about it is the screw cutter portion, great for shortening various screws for electrical work.
Did you replace skip tooth on laying red?
Any relation to AVE from the great white north?
I forgot about the screw shortener! I've used them to shorten machine screws, it works pretty well. I don't know what laying red is, and no relation to AVE except I've seen plenty of tool tear downs from him. Thanks man!
Better make it nice couse when your wife gets sick of your bull you'll be living down there. LoL
Charles, that's a real possibility! I hope she send food down
Anyone else getting the feeling he is sponsored by Purell?
I’ve just gotta say, that’s a great head of hair! Also I don’t like deceptacons either
Lol, I hope I keep it! Decepticons are everywhere, I just threw out the toaster.
