- Apologies to all - the first upload of this corrupted, so i've had to upload again
I have accounts of apparitions and paranormal phenomena from over 270 Second World War Airfields in my files. Some have a great amount of experienced phenomena stretching back to when the airfield was in use, others have just one or two minor accounts such as aircraft engines heard, or even of just the feeling of being watched or of being uncomfortable or even of feeling accompanied by someone invisible while walking around.
Here we re-visit RAF Pocklington it’s not the most haunted of the airfields in my files, it’s not the least, but it is one where I had a small personal encounter when visiting there during my 3 years at York
The history of RAF Pocklington is online here - • RAF Pocklington 1941 t...
great little film , thank you , love eric satie too , great choice , i remember when i worked at former rnas stretton , one of the young ladssaid he saw a moving shadow in hanger one night , he would no way go back in , enjoyed all of your films , thank you , from nick in wigan , lancashire
Thanks Nick - I have a fair amount in my files on Stretton/Blackcap and i've just added your account to the file .... been waiting for an opportunity to use some Satie - has that wonderful otherworldly quality to it
@@British-Hauntings-and-History thanks mate , few buildings are left at stretton , yet oddly most of the runways , the lad who saw the shadow in the hanger , i doubt knew it was a former airfield , few do
I wondered why the original upload was so long, but I guess it happens occasionally. Excellent stuff again.
I made a balls up.....tired and constant interruptions down here are making me make mistakes
Well done Chris 👏 for once again producing a great video, keep up the great work, ho and thanks once again chris for giving RAF Balderton another mention.👻
Hi Chris! Great video as always!
I love all of your videos, whether they're of an old airfield's history, hauntings or both!
i try to keep the two separate - putting paranormal in with a history annoys the anoraks and don't they let me know
Excellent video, Chris, and keep 'em coming! And please take care of yourself, too. Best!
Thanks for sharing Pocklington's ghostly accounts, Chris. Interesting experiences and sightings. Imagine late at night going around the place and you encounter the old style RAF serviceman requesting a light for a ciggie. The interactive spirits are always the intriguing ones, same as the WO you mentioned who was aware of you.
Pocks was an interesting odd place when i visited... lots had gone and yet it still had that hurry up and dead stop of an Airfield going on...the smell of avgas was intense for at most a second and then completely gone........the WO was a typical example of the breed...pompous and arrogant...not as bad as the one at Thornaby though - he was a complete B'stard 8)
@@British-Hauntings-and-History My sister, who used to be in the Army, when she was stationed in Germany, herself and some others visited one of the former death or transit camps, and she told me she could smell disinfectant in one of the buildings.
Excellent video Chris, fascinating stories almost as if the poor souls are still living through the war. Catching up as usual.....this time zone difference is killing me (almost like I'm in a time warp meself.....happens quite a lot in Ireland 😂). Thanks and best wishes my friend.
How fascinating; I spent 6 months in Pocklington in 1999 but didn't know about the former airfield. I had a lot of long walks from the edge of town into the Wolds, creepy energies up there.
Thank you for sharing this! I love your videos man! Keep up the good work!
support always appreciated 8)

Good watch like and shared out in you tube community. ⌚
thank you
Interesting. My late mother was based here during the war, in the Ops room of Bomber Command. She told stories about those crewmen who never returned and the time a German aircraft crash landed here, before bursting into flames. Perhaps that's the source of the aviation fluid smell? Who knows...
My Grandad was based there too. He was in charge of gas protection. He saw things he'd never talk about. He would always talk about the dance band he played in and enjoyed. But he also had to stand guard on wrecks.
They probably knew each other. He would have known the tea dances at Betty's famous cafe in York. Mirror, still there, signed by airmen from the base.
Great account. I've experienced similar
I could smell aviation fuel outside where RAF Martlesham used to be. My mate works at BT, he had to go into BT to get something, so I had to wait outside, I could smell aviation fuel, I knew what smelt like because I had been on Bentwaters when it was operating.
Hi Chris ,Hope all is well .
surviving....just
Can I ask the name of the beautiful piece of music at the very start of this video?

The whole country is a ghost haven if you are lucky enough to see them.
I have spent several nights at this air field and it was a very strange place it had a sad feeling and yes I smelled avgas and this was bizarre my friend said she saw several figures in the dark which just faded away she had always seemed to be able to feel the presence of lost souls
