VAN trip to Buttermere where EVERYTHING (and nothing) happened!

- Several F-35s, an Apache gunship and a swarm of marauding starlings made this quite an interesting little van trip. And that was all in the first couple of hours! Stick with it until the walk around Buttermere for absolutely staggering beauty. What a place!

After shredding my nerves watching the England v Slovakia this video was just what I needed to calm down. As always, thank you Glenn.
Lol 😂 me too 🏴
Me as well! 😅
I'll triple that 😅
over paid prima donna boys chasing a ball? Watch a proper sport... I'd rather guide my dad into my mum than watch that shite!
And me
Happy to say we are tail and charlies. Love the Buttermere walk and Fin of course!
It’s absolutely no problem staying to the end of your videos, I love them, they’re always beautifully filmed and I find them so relaxing 😊. Hiking, vanning or camping I thoroughly enjoy it all❤
Good decision about not drinking. Even being asleep in the back of the van entitles the police to breathalyse you. You risk a drink driving fine/ban unless you’re on private land.
I'm still here, I no l9nger am able to walk without a crutch, and my balance is shot, so by watching you, I get to see place's I can no longer get out to see. So thank you.
Tail end Charlie here🙌😂 and oh hey Finn, so blummin cute bless your tiny paws. Thanks for this as always Glenn. Loved every single second.. Ange 🙏
Love how chill Finn is
Another tail-end Charlie saying thanks to you and Finn for taking us on your walks, sharing the views and your knowledge of the area too.
Like a good hour long episode❤
Better than watching England😂
your allways on too a winner watching the black crag videos
Lovely to see Finn enjoying herself.
Of course we made it to the end! Loved this video. The typical drive up Newlands (I still miss the old purple house), Newlands Hause, Rannerdale Knotts, which I last climbed in April, and the beautiful walk around Buttermere. Thanks to you and Finn for taking us with you.
Never mind the jets, that was a nice red E-Type driving past. ❤❤❤❤
Hello Finfinn!! Missed your little moosh. xx
The scenery was stunning. Thanks for taking us along with you so we can see it.
Another amazing adventure, thank you for taking us all along for the ride, literally. Finn, she was. Epic as always. You are great Glenn but she has our hearts! You are looking good Finn.’
Love the van format with Finn, works very well. Waffle well that’s great too😊!
What a lovely hike. Had such a lekker laugh at Finn rolling around in poop and the fact that you had to sleep in the Van with her 😅 You really love your food & beer .... makes me smile. What beautiful scenery this last stretch of your hike ... stunning.
(respectfully) as a fairly casual cyclist, middle of the road because it minimises the risk of dodgy overtakes, means you can only overtake when it's actually safe to do so, you also avoid sudden drains and stuff like that and have space to move out of the way for potholes. (hope this helps) also cycling through the countryside is an experience like no other, although i tend to avoid riding in roads like this in favour of quieter back roads and do also tend to pull over if traffic is queueing up behind me
I watched until the end and it was not a chore at all, a great way to pass a bit of time on Sunday evening after a long day at work.
Thank you 👍👍
Great videos as always. It’s great to see all those places in the lakes me and my better half use to walk . As both my knees are knackered and can’t walk for any distance. Lots of your videos give me and wife so many great memories back . Cheers
I’m not a cyclist but when I took my test the instructor told me that they are entitled to stay in middle of the road and don’t expect them to cycle in the gutters as this is dangerous for both road users and treat a cyclist as a car , happy days for all trying to enjoy the trips ❤ love the vlog and people who poo without burying it 😳 take a trowel guys two mins to dig a hole u dirty trolls 😂 rant over x
It was just a little bit of fun...taken the wrong way 🙄
@@BlackCrag wasn’t having a go at you just remembered what my instructor said when I moaned about bikes 🏍️😂👍 love your adventures they bring back lots of memories of m6 adventures 👍
Enjoyed the whole video, that tunnel on the walking trail blew my mind. I’d love to experience Buttermere myself one day.
Great van trip. The morning walk is spectacular!!! Holding my breath as you pass other vehicles on the back roads. They sure are narrow. Thank you!

Buttermere is so pretty. I've only ever done road trips around the Lake District and Buttermere is one of my most favorite places and one I make sure to drive past. You've just opened my eyes to so many trails to hike around it. Thank you for that.
Absolutely gorgeous walk around the lake. Enjoy the heat while it lasts, I'm sure it won't be around for long
Watched it till the very end. You can’t ever get tired of these views and obviously the star of the show Little perfectly behaved Finn.
The photo was beautifully framed. Watching your videos is the perfect way to destress and relax. The long episode format is great. Keep up the great videos and photography. ❤👍
That path beside Buttermere is Lake District magic. 👌🏼
What a lovely video! It was good to see Fenn again, and the second walk around the lake was great, I felt like we were walking along with you-if we had been we would’ve brushed that horse fly off your back! Watching Fenn swim to cool off was so cute! Thank you so much Glenn! And please consider longer trips- we so enjoy them! I have always wanted to visit England, and between you and “Goin Solo” (another English camper/ walker) I can finally see it!😁 Please tell Finn her American buddies love her- and her daddy, of course! You always give us a chuckle (or ten or more!) 😁🐶P.S. We are proud to be “Tail End Charlie’s” enjoying a breakie or a beverage with you!
Enjoying this so much, savouring it over a few watch sessions, amazing aircraft action, cooking shenanigans, super cool boss dog Finn, that hot choccy saved the day! And still more to watch! Couldn't ask for more 👍👍👍
Beautifully filmed thank you. Walked around Buttermere both ways a number of times and this really captures it, particularly avoiding people spoiling the view. We normally pop into Sykes Farm tea rooms to finish where they do some pretty awesome cakes and pies.
Glad I watched to the end, the scenery was well worth it. Stunning. Thanks so much ❤
I always watch until the end. Great to see Finn again too.
Yes, I really enjoyed this video and being a tail end Charlie. Lovely to see sweet Finny, she’s a darling. Scenery was spectacular. Thank you Glen. 🇨🇦🙂
Walked the far side of Buttermere a few weeks ago, really lovely walk, thanks for this video, as usual you showed us some lovely places, and you are an amusing and informative companion, love your chat, even better to have Finn along!
Happy to be a Tail end Charlie 🎉 really loved the format of this. Please do more! Had a bit of everything. Lovely to see Finn again
We are tail end Charlies! Love these videos Mr Crag! I hope you are doing well and that you know we are all here for you! Also, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FINN!!!
Aww The Finn is back ❤
I love the simplicity of your van & your camping 🏕 ❤️....no fuss, no muss....🎉❤
Enjoy ALL of your videos! Love your photography! Thank you for producing such great content. 😊
What a lovely video. I enjoy both your fell adventures and your nights in the van. Great to see Buttermere again, I haven’t been there since the 1970s when I plodded up Fleetwith Pike and took a rowing boat out on the lake. Must go back soon
Always make it to the end, wouldn't want to take my eyes off it in case I missed something that I could later replicate.. Great video as always, great host and of course Queen Finn
Always stay to the end of every video. That walk around Buttermere looks stunning.
My wife struggles joining me now on the higher fells after rupturing her Achilles so we are always looking for low level walks for her and this one is perfect.
I come to the Black Crag posts to relax. And I can read the comments. Your right ✅️ I never see bad comments on here ❤❤❤
Here right to the end. Brilliant walk, loved it, and Finn of course ❤
I was on Scafell,Lingmell and Great End at the weekend and actually got bored of been buzzed by F-35s and Typhoons. Not gonna complain the were stunning machines.
Just subscribed,
I love that it’s just you & your dog amongst nature with no music tracks spoiling the vibe of being where you are...so nice🙌🌾🌾🌾thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video, I absolutely adore Buttermere, it's such a special place. Great work, as always 👍🏻
Absolutely loved this. Watched every last minute. Thanks for the lovely walk around a lovely lake. Fantastic pictures. Even breakfast looked great. I always like to see familiar places in youtube videos. Makes me want to be there! All the best.
Loved this...did exactly same route back in March. Re your comment that we viewers are wonderful...it's because you are wonderful 😁 Keep going 👍
Fab video. What a stunning part of the world!!! Love the van trips.
That is one super travelling buddy. She really is a super little dog, love the tilting head! Enjoyed the video.

Enjoyed this glen , what a gem of a place. Thanks for sharing.❤
You excelled yourself on this one Glenn...Total enjoyment right til the end..and love that outro music too!
As an occasional motorist, cyclist ,tractor driver, animal drover and walker I use the roads. They’re not there for a single transport category! Thanks for another entertaining video👍
It was simply a harmless dig at a few cyclists that I know who follow the channel. I'm all for bikes and cycling in general 👌
@@BlackCrag created some comments though 😂
Fantastic walk around Buttermere, I'm miles away in North Essex and I miss my holidays there , miss getting up the fells... big thank you 😊
We're "Tail End Charlies"! Thanks for such a great film. From me and one of your clan, Stuart Harkness. (I get excited to see his name in your credits every week 😂). Love your work!!
Tail ender , love the video. No longer well enough to make these walks like i use to. So I love being able to join you on them...heaven and wonderful memories. Thankyou . 🌸🌿

Fantastic! After a long day at work, just what I needed, thank you! As for Finn, star of the show! Beautiful pooch in every way!!!
Made it to the end. Very relaxing and peaceful. Lovely video.
Finn is so well behaved such a great companion 😃
You manage to capture what the lakes is about in every video. I grew up in the lakes but moved away some years ago. Your videos scratch that bit of my brain that misses it
Dude... Up next week ! LETS GO!!!
Enjoyed the Van trip - enjoy your conversations with us😊
Wow! Love the doggy friendly restaurant at the end ❤❤❤ I wanna live there with my well behaved Jack Russell. Beautiful 🎉
Fantastic walk, thanks for sharing. Will have to do this one myself 👍
The last time I was at Buttermere two A10 tank busters were practicing manoeuvres,I had a grandstand seat 😁
Great video! Love this style of video and can’t wait to get out there myself!
I'm a tail end Charlie! 😄 Loved the video pal an enjoyable watch as always. Love the van "camping" vids
I’m a tail end Charlie!!! Great to hear about the trips planned outside the Lake District. Love to see some trips around Wales.
Great to see Finn out and about, what a cutie she is. Loving the summer night time lapses, really captures the magic of the place. Your vids are quality and great to chill out with. Thanks Glenn.
Camp Crag lol! Tail end charlie here 🤣🤣 I really enjoy the bimble and chill. I must admit I saw the duration of the video and thought "wow!" but it's great hanging out watching you and the finnmeister just enjoying your surroundings. And yes, I too have a series of blocking tactics for the undesirable commentors 🤷♂
Loved your video, one of my favourite walks. Thanks
Absolutely loved every minute of this video. Thank you so much 😊
Tail End Charlie here ….great video , That breakfast looked awesome 👍
Hi Glenn, wonderful video, was glued to every minute of that. Always nice to see Finneus out again. Thank you for sharing your adventure, all the best, Dave
Tail-end charlie, loved it!
More power to us "Tail-end Charlies"!
A lovely change of pace Glenn. Buttermere is, indeed, beautiful.
The majesty of Honister Pass impressed me as I went up it....The Buttermere circuit was a delight to walk on a warm, sunny 2nd of May...but what blew me away was the drive through the Newlands Valley to Keswick. That drive made me fall in love with the Lake District!!
I'm up in the Lakes again in a couple of weeks, around the Ambleside area this time....and I can't wait!!
As a regular visitor to the area the roads are so familiar during the start of your vlog, and at first I was kinda surprised you didn’t go to Buttermere via Honister but in fairness that route to Moss Force for your initial walk and overnight is beautiful and worth the pain of the opposing traffic on the way up and ultimately going back via Honister made for a great circular route. That Apache you saw in the area was very likely Royal Netherlands Air Force, they are on exercise TAC BLAZE as it’s being called operating out of Carlisle airport.
Fabulous video, love the Fin!!!!
Like these overnight camp videos. Just bought a converted van and looking for nice overnight locations and this is definitely on my list to visit.
Forever a tail end charlie. Lovely walk. Thx as always Glenn
Love your videos, especially the van trips, so inspiring, thank you xx
Another wonderfully beautiful video thank you 😊
I was up Bowfell and Esk Pike on Monday, deliberately left home at 5am to try and beat the heat with my dog, Nope! Red hot by 8am 🤦🏽♀️😂
Loved your vlog!! Very informative and relaxing 😊
Wonderful video stunning views all round and off course the gorgeous finn xx
Did this walk last week. Is gorgeous
I’ve been waiting for this one up, nice to see you up in our neck of the woods! We did Newlands to Buttermere probably on the same day as you filmed this and I thought at the time I would love to see you do a video in this area!
I loved this video, what another astonishingly beautiful place. Loving the van video, I like your ideas about putting in a window and such. Don't forget the proper gear for tea next time though.. We live in a heavy cycling town. As soon as the TDF starts, the bicyclists manifest, riding six wide in the middle of the road. I feel for you.
Tail end Charlies?! 😂 One of the Charlies here I guess. Yes please, more camping, more van camping and more Finfinn please!! ❤
I love being a back seat driver in your van. The car park rest stop and the strong coffee with the spoon standing up right because it's so strong. Ah! small pleasures. It's such a lovely route around Buttermere, nature at it's very best.🌲😍 Yes, I'm a tail end Charline. lol
I loved the walk I’m welsh born but live in Perth Western Australia one day I’ll go back amazing view I could listen to your voice all day… and that pic you took was amazing mate .kind regards from Oz👍🇦🇺
Interesting that you called us ‘tale end Charlie’s’😊, first time I’ve had the pleasure of watching you and Finn, and I will be watching you both again, I found your voice too very restful and you’ve shown me parts of the Lake Dustrict I’ve never seen before so Thank you both. 👍😊
Tail End Charlie - Still with you at 1hour 03min - Keep doing this
Love the video mate 👍🏻
I stayed at Low Wood Bay last weekend in the sunny weather, absolutely beautiful views over the lake from the outdoor pool.
The lakes didn’t seem that busy but the brats haven’t broken up yet 😂
Your videos are always worth watching to the end 😊 I was talking to a fella on Kirk Fell on 21st June, doing his vlog. He watches your stuff. He'd gone up the brutal route
