Outside Fabric:
(2) 9" x 19" (top panels)
(2) 8-1/2" x 12-1/2" (side panels)
Lining Fabric:
(1) 19" x 32" (main body lining)
(2) 8-1/2" x 12-1/2" (side panels)
Fusible Foam:
(1) 19" x 32" (main body)
(2) 8-1/2" x 12-1/2" (side panels)
(2) 7" x 8" (side pockets)
Accent Fabric:
(1) 15" x 19" (outside bottom)
(2) 8-1/2" x 15" (side pockets)
(1) 8" x 13" (inside pocket)
Binding:
1 FQ - make 1-1/2" bias binding as directed in video
Cut into:
(2) 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" (side pocket binding)
(2) 1-1/2" x 40" (side biding)
Use remainder to bind top edge of bag
2 yards decorative ribbon cut into:
(2) 19" strips
(2) 15" strips
2-1/4 yards 1" cotton webbing for straps cut into:
(2) 3/4" x 38" strips

Love, Love this bag. I made it this week-end. I have never done binding or quilting, so was challenging for me. I got brave and added a mesh bag on each inside side panel and I also got very brave and added a zipper closure, which is something I have never done. I plan to also make your other bag that is similar in size as this tote. Have been and will be using the fabrics that I have on hand. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

GREAT TUTORIAL!!! I’ve made several bags with this fusible foam and several with binding. Couple of tips for those of us who are older and have hand trouble. Quilting gloves help you to hold on to all the layers, a stylus also helps when seeing layers together and especially when binding! This is such a cute bag!!! Can’t wait to try it! Erica’s bags always turn out so great! My grandkids loved their drawstring bags!
Also, a walking foot it’s helpful. If you want the bottom of the bag to be sturdier, home improvement stores will cut plexiglass to whatever dimensions you need. I cover mine with a matching fabric (pillow case style) and push it down into the bottom of the bag.
Oh yes, quilting gloves would be a great idea!

Super cute bag, Erica! As often those gingham checks are not printed accurately on the straight-of-grain and end up looking crooked (even though you cut the strips straight), I would use a solid as the bias binding. But I love ❤️ everything else about your bag!!

I was looking for a bag like this when I saw you making this. I think you have a have a very excellent way of making everything look so easy. Wonderful weekender bag to take any where. Was thinking how to put in recessed zipper to keep everything inside when I heard you say you were going of show to put in zipper. Can't wail to start one for a trip I have coming up with a friend for a week of sewing.

I made my first large tote with your tutorial and I have to say it is a lot of work. I am very happy with it but I don’t think I will use cork again it was rather thick, however I like the look. I will try another one with just material but it is hard to find material to mix and match. Thank you and I’m going to try ur train tutorial next.
Just finished my bag. I used fusible fleece. Doesnt stand up as good as the foam im sure. May order the foam for the next one. I needed to get it finished for a trip. Thank u so much!
