Funny how the snobbish Hotel Clerk harps about that being an upscale establishment, while his shirt is not buttoned and he is not wearing a tie. He is more trashy than his assumed "status" of the guest checking in. However, the guest could have done a little better in his attire as well, simply by zipping up his jacket.

If it changes the attitude of one "nose stuck in the air" hotel employee wannabe, it has done its job!

The irony is that it was one of the worst hotels I had stayed in, and as someone whose early trips abroad were mainly on school group holidays, that is saying something!

As late as the 1950's,, just before the advent of the civil rights movement, many hotels and resorts had "restricted clientele" policies that barred Jewish-Americans, Asian-Americans, and African-Americans as guests. Even though this was long before the internet, it often happened prospective guests would make reservations months in advance then be told b.s. the hotel or resort still did not have their reservation! Just like in the movie starring Gregory Peck and Dean Stockwell "Gentlemen's Agreement".

I am proud to say that some businesses are not as judgmental as this one.
I was looking to buy a new vehicle. And the way I looked was not on my mind.
I walked into a local Toyota dealership unshaven, and wearing sweatpants, crocs, a t-shirt, a jacket and a ball cap.
The staff was absolutely courteous and helpful. In no way did they demean me because of how I looked.
I bought my new 2024 hybrid Sienna from them that day outright, without financing.
The way I look or dress is no indication of my wealth. And people who assume otherwise need a reality check.
Not all wealthy people dress in designer clothes.

These stories are ridiculously silly, but there is a kernel of truth to them. I have worked at companies where a rarely-seen owner or secret shopper showed up and ended up making some major personnel changes.

I don't work in hospitality. After viewing this video, and if I was the owner both would have been fired. A manager that is so surprised that this has happened is brain dead and not managing. She gets paid allot of money to ensure this doesn't happen

The acting was corny, the reception desk unlike any normally seen, and his tie was missing for such an upscale hotel. But the message was as clear as day. A person's appearance is not an indication of their lifestyle. Many people travel in comfortable clothing, not necessarily in three piece suits or gorgeous dresses.
The reception character lacks the necessary attitude to be in that particular service industry.
