Today we're taking a look at a defrosting tray that is a bit confusing. On the packaging sent it says that it will defrost meat in minutes, half the time, 3 times as fast, and on the selling page in 60 minutes. So which one is it and is the product any good?

Quick note: I've hidden the likes/dislikes on this video because they were sitting at 19 likes vs 2 dislikes as of May 28th 2020. Then apparently the sellers of this knock off product found my video and attempted to devalue the information within by down voting this video with fake accounts and leaving false comments that were caught in the spam filter. I don't want viewers to get the wrong idea from the people clearly selling the product. Thanks for the continued support!
That's a good idea. I seriously don't understand why Amazon doesn't strongly moderate who sells what. So easy for /fake-ish/ products to be sold by scammers, but ya know... It's Amazon, so why am I even bothering lol.
Thank you for doing the research for this. I was just about to buy one off Amazon after seeing an ad on FB but then thought... Maybe I should watch a video first 😂
Anytime. I tried more times than I should have because I wanted to work so bad lol.
@@averagejoelife6121 they work, the original non-knockoffs are made of aluminum alloy, I believe, which gives out far more heat than most if not any other surface one would thaw their meats out on. You got a plastic knockoff.
My late mother just put the meat still in the package in water in the sink and it does great. It may take a few hours but it does save you if you forget to take it out the night before.
You’re awesome dude. You did the test the exact right way to prove it doesn’t work
Just as I suspected. I have the same results, not even close to defrosted over 30 min later. How do they get away with scamming like this?
Mine has little rubber feet ant it says in the directions to run the bottom side under lukewarm water before placing the meat on it.
I've just purchased it from As Seen on TV store direct for $14.99 (no tray). So far we used it twice and don't work as advertised.. Tray get cold but that's about it.. No 15 minute defrost!
Can you leave the meat in a plastic bag or plastic packaging while thawing on the tray
thanks for saving me the grief of this thing.crap. i bet anything its not even safe to leave out at any room temperature.
I flip my cast iron skillet over and put my frozen food on it. Maybe it's just my imagination but it does seem to defrost faster. And the skillet does become ice cold.
Good on you !!
Spades are spades, shit is still shit !!
Thanks :-)

i see what you did there...
Idk man I use one from Amazon my parents bought me all the time. Ground beef is almost thawed in an hour and I buy chicken breast from Costco they’re in packs of 2 and it’s a 6 pack total so it’s 12 chck breast. They’re sealed. I cute the packs to individual 2 packs of breast. I put these on the tray they got me from Amazon’s cause they use it too. It does the 2 pack of breast in 2 hours and I bake, bbq, or cut up and cook in a frying pan. Seems to work fine for me it does have lil rubber feet to keep it off the counter a bit. Idk I used to leave it on the fridge overnight or set it out in the counter, but setting on the counter took longer than this plate. Everyone I know and I’m pushing 40 has always either thawed in fridge overnight, or put it out on the counter for a few hours before cooking. You just never let it get hot. You just check it by the time it’s thawed it’s still as cold as when you get it from the open air cooler at the store. My homie told me a while back him and his pops set that shit outside on the table on the covered patio still in the package. That would make me nervous but all the ways described above is how it’s always been done. Just make sure you cook it right. My
Mom ever since I was a kid and remember set ground beef or chicken on the counter for a lil while to thaw. Also we rinse off the chicken after taking out the package. Is that frowned upon too? Lol idk thaw plate seems to work for me. Not no 30 mins but as said faster than just setting on a plate or counter.
You dont want to wash your chicken if you bought it from supermarket, its not really needed and could potentially be bacteria pit. Would have to cook it for more and higher temps afaik to make it safe then
I have been using one that my parents had from over 10 years ago. I have found that it has been working really well 🤷♀️ my one has little feet to raise it off the bench a bit.
Bought one of these a few years ago and it was crap. I don't remember the brand, but It didn't help at all, similar to your results.
Maybe you wanna try Qaoar ICEGONE defrosting tray, which 8× faster defrosting meat~~though it's a bit pricy, it's worth!
I almost bought one, but basically just take the meat out and leave out on a plate. I was thinking there's was some low heat or something.
I tried this darn thing a dozen times after recording this because I was like it has to do something that metal plate gets so cold... I don't know if it's the brand or the product type overall but it just doesn't do anything for me, marginal differences if anything. I figured the metal draws in heat over a larger surface area that's the idea or premise? Oh well, back to pulling meat out the day before and defrosting in the fridge for me I guess.
This is a knock off version. My family have the real one back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s and it would melt and ice cube completely in like 2 minutes. We used it defrost stuff all the time. It would thaw a pound of hamburger meat in like 20 minutes.
Where do I find a real version?
@@TrackStarAA1 No idea, I haven't seen one of these in almost two decades. They started popping back up again, but they are nothing like the ones from the 90's.
Don't buy these things instead put frozen food in a non stick pan...definitely will defrost way quickly...
Amazon is full of scammy chinese products. Getting alternate products is common.
That's why I wanted to point those things out and show the listing I received this off from. I may try it again if I can get a more reputable product that's actually brand name. It seemed odd it said as seen on TV in the box but not on the box.
Lol “danger zone”
