Russian missiles pound power facilities in central & western Ukraine. The attack hits energy facilities in Ukraine’s Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk cities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says facilities crucial to delivering gas to the European Union came under attack. The assault marks Russia’s fourth large-scale attack on the Ukrainian energy grid since March 22, increasing pressure on Ukraine's ailing energy system. Ukraine supplies Russia’s gas to the EU under a transit deal with Russia's Gazprom, which is set to expire in December. The Ukrainian air defences “downed 21 out of 34 missiles fired”. After the attack, Zelensky reiterated calls for more air defence systems. Meanwhile, Ukraine struck Russian oil refineries in Krasnodar & Kaluga regions, forcing one of the plants to suspend some operations because of damages.
