A lot of people is saying just ban Io, you guys probably don't remember how good Akke was if you see the bans from Navi you will see that all the bans were Akke hero's. So if they ban Io Akke would get the chance to pay either Naga or Chen, and if that happens Navi lose. You could say that Akke was the gh, jerax, yapzor, of his time.

In 2020 watching this, imo ti3 finals still the best series. TI8 was good because of OG drama and cinderella story. But ti3 game 5 was unbelievable comeback, back then gold swing wasn't as big as today, there's no comeback mechanic like today's meta, yet Alliance did it

I remember watching this game and the Liquid bulba CLockwerk comeback against LGD. Back then, a 5k gold lead was almost insurmountable. Which made comebacks exciting. Now, just fight high ground, get comeback gold kills, and it’s even.
Buyback and rat doto was strong af at ti3 though and icefrog ignored it up until alliance abused the fuck out of it. Not to mention how dumb broken IO was.

This final had everything, struggle, strat, grid, surprise, and the comeback on round 5 perfectly encapsulate what i love about dota.
btw xboct outplaying the whole [A]lliance team in the bot lane totally describe how much of a beast that guy was back in his days.

Nah. Na'Vi was the epithome of the "use a player until he's burnt then dump him and replace him" culture from back then. They won TI1 and dropped everyone except Dendi and Puppey, and after that they fired most of the squad on a yearly basis. Dendi stayed until 2019, and Puppey left on his own as far as I know.
@@drstarboy Uhhhh what? They only replaced a single player for TI2. Artstyle left and was replaced by Ars-Art. For TI3 Funn1k came in because Lightofheaven took a break from DoTA and Kuro replaced Ars-Art. They didn’t dump their whole team every year

@@drstarboy Es mejor la final del TI3, se prestó todo para ser la mejor final de todas. Alliance vs Na´vi, "El Clasico", la rivalidad más fuerte en la historia del Dota 2, se enfrentaban una vez más en una final pero esta vez del TI. Alliance que parecía arrazar en el torneo, terminó estando con el marcador en contra en la final, mientra Na'Vi hacía lo que se pensaba imposible. La partida lo tiene todo, muchos momentos de alta tensión, buybacks en cada TF y un ritmo sin parar desde un inicio. Veo muy difícil que se pueda superar esta partida como la mejor final de los TI. Se estuvo muchos años sin que se llegaran a 5 juegos en la final del TI. Este torneo fue el que marcó los cimientos para el Dota 2 y la final estuvo más que a la altura para la primera vez que se lanzó el Compendium. Alliance demostró que había roto el juego y los tuvieron que nerfear. Esta fue la forma perfecta de terminar la gran rivalidad de ambos. Esta partida aún es considerada como la mejor de la historia del Dota 2, y por los que no la ven así al menos la consideran en el top, esto no solo por la partida en sí sino todo lo que significaba. Realmente considero muy improbable que algo asi pueda volver a pasar. El Dota 2 ya no tiene grandes rivalidades porque hay más talentos, el juego creció y no existen más "El Clasico". Si no viviste el dota en esa época, no lo entenderías. Muy fan de OG se puede ser, pero imposible que puedan si quiera acercar esa final con lo que fue esta. Si se tuviera que enmarcar un solo momento en la historia del Dota 2, sería esta partida y de eso nadie tiene duda.

those s4 dream coils cancels TP what a play
It was great maneuvre from S4, but also huge panic move from Navi, dire creeps gave S4 vision so he just coiled hero which tried to teleport. Dendi/kuro could 1 hit whole creepwave, and kuro could sacrifice himself to puck to prevent this. IT was epic game, but too many mistakes on navi side.

Not really. DotA 2 continued to work this way one more year, until the game was heavily rebalanced after Newbee won TI4 in disappointing fashion.

Yea, I like some of the new things introduced but the cosmetics are getting out of hand, well it did 5 years ago. Now you can't even tell what heroes you are watching anymore and all you see is particle effects everywhere, yea game was alot cleaner back then.

So this is where OG got their idea to use IO core?
Nope. IO was OP in that generation it was pick or ban in all games. Tether did long stun, overpower blocked too much dmg etc. Right after TI3 wisp was nerfed, tether did only slow and overpower went down, ult had bigger CD and few more nerfs (stats). Then icefrog decided to buff it again. Also meta changed, heroes got reworked etc.
As CrossBow said, Io in TI3 was overpowered for very different reasons than TI9--the main one being the rat potential with the relatively low Relocate cooldown. In TI9, the Aghanim's boost to Spirits as well as the level 15 talent (at the time +75 Hero damage per Spirit hit) both made Io very overpowered. Io didn't even need to rat...just needed to tether the carry and hang out nearby so the constant Spirit damage would destroy any enemies pushing in. That's why there's a True Sight cinematic for Ana's Io when he gets the Tome to hit level 15.
However, the big question I really have between TI3 and TI9 pertains to Kuroky...he literally said Io was broken during the Game 4 draft in TI9. If ANYBODY should have known to ban a broken Io, if ANYBODY had actually been in the Grand Finals against a broken Io, it was Kuroky. He was constantly shutting down teammate suggestions for picks and bans (namely the Ember ban suggestion by Miracle, the Nature's Prophet 15 pick from MindControl, and the constant Tide/TA cheese). I don't know if it was vanity or just ignorance, but his drafting was abysmal. You throw in the fact that he had Matumbaman kicked for w33ha before TI8 and you really just have to wonder how great of a team captain he really is.
Either way, this is the golden era of DotA and despite whatever arguments people may make for other teams, OG is the only one that topped them all by being back-to-back TI champions without a single roster change.
