Have coaches and parents told you to stop overthinking and you don't have a clue how to do it? Here's a simple solution even an 8 year old can do. Part 2 of 6: How to be a clutch player and perform under pressure.

This is actually really good advice. This technique is very underated.

It's good to emphasise that to just simply stop overthinking is not possible, thank you for doing that! Whenever I am working with clients I try to teach 'control the controllable' which means to focus on the present moments you are in control of. This leads to better performance and less anxiety in sports.

I'm a Tumbler, (gymnast, but only trains floor excercise) and about a two - three ish months ago I fractured my ankle near a growth plate. It was small but it was big enough to take me out of Gymnastics for about a month. I felt like I was thriving before I fractured my ankle, my skills were coming easily, I was getting stronger, and I was in a mental state where things were so easy to perform. After fracturing the ankle and getting the cast off, to this day I get so frustrated because I'm nowhere near where I used to be. Now all I feel like I can do is overthink and think "well I really don't want to fracture my ankle again" and it really takes a toll on what I'm trying to perform. Watching this video along with some of your other content has helped tremendously within just the passed few days and I'm slowly getting back into doing tumbling passes much easier, getting new skills daily, and overall I'm feeling so so much better mentally. So aha thank you for making these and I'm not sure why I'm coming across these now but I'm glad I did!

I have problem with this tip. It's brilliant in its simplicity, but how to evaluate it? Sure I can practice trying to be in the present by focusing on something real. But my mistake (pool biliards) is probably made by bad judgment of the situation. When i feel 'overthinking' it's usualy a sign from my mind that there is something wrong in my plan/approach. Switching from this feeling is one part, but then I feel empty, clueless and just depend on my practice/technique. It usually works, but i'm not feeling in control.
