I have a Trek DualSport hybrid, but use it as a flat bar’ gravel bike - done 350km all loaded up around King Alfred’s Way - love it, and not scared of damaging the alloy frame …
Good to hear. Have just ordered that bike.
Affordable to me is around $500. That's probably why I ride a single speed and an old GT. That's also probably why I average 12 mph on all my rides.
To be fair to you, 12mph average is pretty good on a hybrid
Superb 💪😎
I agree...
If you're not racing professionally, there's no reason to spend more than $500 on a bike.
Spending more is like buying an Indy car to go shopping.
I have a single speed too but it's killing me. I live in Chicago and the wind kills my legs. I need some gears. I think I'm going to upgrade to a gravel bike for these damn rugged streets.
I have the Trek FX Sport 6 and added the Redshift Shockstop stem and seatpost. It's like riding on a cloud.
Love the Sirrus X 5.0 and 6.0.
I've been riding the Trek FX2 since 2022 but only got more serious riding this year. On group rides I was able to still outdo people on road bikes. Just purchased a road bike though so now I'll just be using it as my commuter bike.
How do you like the Trek FX2? I have an opportunity to get one (new condition) for $450
@Hwilly919 sorry just saw this. It's an amazing bike! If you're looking for a commuter or general fitness bike, I don't think you can go wrong with it. While it can keep up with group rides under 30km/h (which is also just as much about the rider to be fair), I wouldn't recommend it if that's the main purpose.
Giant hybrid absolutely a fantastic product I love my Giant
Is decathlons riverside hybrid bikes not available in the UK? Because in Australia we have decathlon riverside hybrid bikes and I have the riverside 900
I just love how English people say Aluminum
It's spelled "Aluminium." 😁👍
...though you'll have to dig up Sir Humphrey Davy to resolve the matter.
Some useful bikes. Not much steel frame though. For a commuter alu probably better though my 1980's steel racer cuts through the headwind with very narrow bars and strangely has room for 40mm tyres :)
After looking at bikes for a couple months I've decided to get some carbon gravel wheels for my XC mountain bike. Done.
You should have included the Specialized Diverge EVO. That is a fun bike for gnarly trails 🤠
Yes sweet Bike
Your subscribers need some "Surly" steel Preamble love!!!!!!
Missed Canyon Roadlite bike they look amazing
Trek fx sport 6 WIN❤
Sam is becoming one of my favorite cycling presenters.
Nice, new bikes.
Would be nice to see the men's bikes.
What's the difference between a hybrid and flat bar gravel bike or even rigid hardtail?
Almost None. But some of the mentioned bikes are a crossover of city and road bikes. Some hybrid bikes are also the same as road bikes or gravel ones with flat bars. Each manufacturer has a different definition of what a hybrid is.
Generally hybrids will have a more upright riding position than a gravel bike and be fitted with road tyres capable of minor off roads tracks consisting of smooth hardpack gravel. Gravel (and even more so a rigid mtb) are likely to have slightly more aggressive geometry and be kitted out and built for harsher terrain.
There’s no denying though, that in 2024 there are a lot of bikes that blur these lines, especially when the ‘hybrid’ or ‘gravel’ label is supplied by the manufacturer depending on where they are positioning the bike in their range and the market.
Some nice bikes, some way overpriced but if you’re going to list Triban then the other great value brand is Boardman. Surprised to see them missing.
What's the real difference between a hybrid and a gravel bike, the handlebars?
The manufacturers will tell you there are 101 differences - but I use a hybrid Trek as my gravel bike - flat bars are better off road, and then you just need a decent set of gravel tyres (my DualSport came with gravel tyres)
@@JIMMYHIBBS1 Thanks - My bike was made before they had "gravel bikes." I'm thinking that sometimes they change the handlebars, the name to gravel and raise the price.
@@daniellarson3068 exactly - years ago I used to ride cycle-cross - cyclo-cross bikes were cheap and uncool until they basically rebranded them as gravel bikes (and put the prices up) 🙄
Only difference is having flat bar. Usually, gravel bikes have nicer frames and builds and are more expensive. But a hybrid can do anything a gravel bike does short of winning races. Sam actually did a video about this named “things we don’t like about gravel bikes” or something similar.

Giant stopped selling the Toughroad in the US years ago.
The mic gain is way too high. The highs are distorting
Rim Brakes for the win in 2024❤
In my mind, a hybrid should never not have rack and fender mounts. I went 2023 Marin DSX 2 this year. Basically a better spec’d kentfield with a carbon fork. Sadly, it’s a bit awkward a bike. With the 10-51 12 speed cassette, rear rack, and kick stand, the bike is so rear heavy it doesn’t sit right on the wall rack in my garage, and a light bump will knock it over with a rear bag of any significant weight. I’m thinking I might need to move to a lowrider front rack and front panniers for commuting… unless I downgrade to 1x10 or get a heavier front wheel…
trek is the bast
I ride the 600 from priority. Derailleur suck.
600 is quite a slow bike
£2400 for a hybrid. Just no 🤦♂️
Sorry you dont agree with wide range of price points available for hybrids now. I love it 😂
Biking isn't for the working class anymore 🫣
I don’t see the fundamental difference between a hybrid and a road bike that means one can’t cost thousands of pounds and the other can. A hybrid user can want and benefit from a compliant, lightweight frame, smooth and efficient gear shifting etc just as much as any road bike rider.
But you would pay from the same spec with roadie handlebars I bet, enough said.
@@Dcully nope. Only consider it for custom steel or titanium. Not a ridiculous looking frame like that
Did you just forget the " affordable " bit ??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Scott Metrix is better than most of these
Hey put some drop bars them and call them gravel bikes or as that already been done 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The new Sirrus frame is butt ugly! Don't care how good it rides! I'm buying an FX.
Sirius… marketing junk
