  • I compare the PS42 Bosch 12 volt Impact Driver versus the DeWalt DCF801 12v Impact Driver. I own and have used and like both tools, but I'll tell you the features I like best on both.

Valid criticisms for the Bosch. Unfortunately the inhandle battery system like the 12v Bosch and the Milwaukee M12 always result in a fat grip and bad balancing with small cells. The non ejecting bit is built around regulations in other countries where you could be working at height and the bit is fired out landing on someone so it has to be a manual release. The main issue I have with these 12v systems is the price is so close to the 18v stuff I would rather have the higher performance at the expense of extra weight.

Thanks for your input and perspective. That makes sense why DeWalts ergonomics in the hand is so much better in the 12v. DeWalts 20v is incredible, too, it seems like dewalt takes pride in that.
Why does dewalt and other brands have the ejecting bit and not Bosch. Dewalt is also sold worldwide.
I guess it depends what a person does and uses it. I tote around a heavy tool bad in and out of houses, so I'm trying to save any extra weight. But you're right, especially how small and compact these 20v tools are getting. It's fun to see where 5 years we will be with all this progress and competition between brands

@@HandymanHertz They have different models in different countries, also in other countries they are labelled as 18v vs 20v. I have a M18 with a manual eject but the US version has spring loaded eject.

@slinkytrips interesting. I've noticed dewalt is 18v and 54v in other countries. I wonder why Bosch doesn't make a USA model with spring ejection like other brands? I like Bosch, I think their quality is up there with makita/dewalt/milwaukee/ but they are falling behind in the power tool game. That's just my opinion.

Loud enough for hearing protection! You should do the Milwaukee surge and see how it holds up in a head to head. Or same brand drill v impact just for fun

Yeah, I've been really curious about the surge. Do you have one. They don't have much power, but quiet I guess.
Yeah, next time we are sticking in earplugs. 👍🏼 I almost went and got some ear muffs when I was waiting for Chet in the video.

Yeah, I've got some dewalt impacts to compare and also a dewalt drill vs impact. Thanks for the good ideas!
