    Harry spent 10 years enduring abusive conditions and with absolutely no friends and - unlike Draco - he chose to reject his toxic upbringing and treat people with kindness and decency. He constantly put his friends and fellow students above himself even when they turned on him (which happened on more than one occasion). Not to mention that when the chips were down, he was basically always the one who got the job done. Quirrell, Basilisk, Dementors, Voldemort multiple times etc. In the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, he - along with Neville - was still standing when the Order arrived while everyone else had gone down. He was the only person smart enough to deduce the correct path of the Elder Wand and thus figure out that he actually had the advantage when everyone else who knew about the wand assumed Voldemort did. He figured that out in the middle of a huge battle. Good luck to anyone else in the entire series piecing that together in those circumstances. Not the first time either; just by watching Malfoy's behaviour in Diagon Alley, he deduced that Malfoy joined the Death Eaters, which nobody outside of Dumbledore (who already knew) believed. Harry's logical/tactical sense is very underrated. And in case anyone forgot...he willingly walked into what looked for all the world like a certain death sentence when he allowed Voldemort to strike him down, just so the world would have a chance to defeat him.
    Sure, he's impulsive and quick to anger, but all that does is make him human. His kindness, empathy and courage far outstrip his flaws and bear in mind, he turned out to be a truly good person even while a piece of Voldemort was literally living in him. Wearing a Horcrux as a necklace was enough to amplify a person's negative traits, so imagine how much worse it would be with it actually merged with you. That Harry overcame that and an abusive upbringing to still be so good is a strength of character unmatched in the series.
    Also, small thing, but his sassy snark is up there with the Twins and Ron for best humour in the series.
    Harry Potter is an amazing character and a truly extraordinary person

Bill and Charlie were adults living on their own, and she had no say over what they did, Fred and George were of age, but still in school and at home, and she wouldn't even let them set in and listen to ordered meetings. In DH while at the Burrow she did everything she could to keep Harry, Ron, and Hermione from having private time together so they couldn't plan anything, and she made Ginny stay in the Room of Requirement during half if not most of the battle, she was only able to join the battle because Harry, Ron, and Hermione needed to use the room. The former is especially egregious because he potentially put many lives at risk, primarily the lives of the students he was supposed to protect.
    ETA: Also, Percy not brave, lol? Alright, I guess him helping protect the school from an escaped “mass murderer” as Head Boy, helping stop a rabid mob started by Death Eaters during the Quidditch World Cup, and fighting in the Battle of Hogwarts doesn’t count for anything. I’d even argue that him siding with the Ministry was extraordinarily brave, going against his family to pursue his dreams and the career he spent years working on. I feel like Parvati should have been in the brave tier, just like Dean, since the main thing that put him there (fighting with Travers and Dolohov) was done by both of then together, not Dean alone.
    Not only that, Parvati also stood up against Pansy Parkinson, defending Neville in book 1 and she also always stood up for Lavender and Professor Trelawney against Hermione's witty and somewhat insensitive remarks in the early books, which shows her courage to defend her friends and people she admires, something some of her classmates like Seamus and Lavender never do.
    I could make a similar case about Katie Bell: we might not see her fighting much, but she stood up to defend and help people, like when she defended Hermione against Draco and Marcus Flint when they called her a mudblood in book 2. And honestly, you have to be brave to keep playing quidditch with the amount of times Katie had the quaffle get thrown in her face and it would break her nose.

    For all those wondering why Peter Pettigrew was sorted into Gryffindor, I always saw it this way.
    Remember when Harry said I’m not as good as you to Hermione and she said “humm…books and cleverness. There are more important things like friendship and bravery.” Many people think Hermione should have been in Ravenclaw because she is so intelligent but I think you get sorted into the house of the traits you admire most and want to be. Like with Neville, he started out the opposite but became the bravest because of the influence being in Gryffindor had on him. Peter Pettigrew admired people who were brave and strong which is why he gravitated towards them even though he didn’t possess those qualities himself. Peter had the potential to improve like Neville did but ultimately failed. A hint at his potential goodness though is when he shows mercy to Harry and Ron in the Deathly Hallows but Peters bravely was all too late.

    • @briesullivan883
      @briesullivan883 Před 11 měsíci +8

    7:23 I got some arguments for Molly. Yes, she took down Bellatrix, but she also stood several times up against The Order and Dumbeldor on what was best for the kids. She also tried to keep the kids safe at all cost, like breaking up the Golden Trio to keep them from planning, even when she knew they would be both frustrated and angry with her. And keep in mind that the only Ginny was underage, so the others could have just left and cut ties at any time (not that they would have (Percy excluded)).
    And I think that shows a lot of bravery, when you take in to consideration her biggest fear was to lose her family, both litterly, but also figuratively, as shown through how badly she wanted to mend things with Percy.

      I agree with some of your points, however ordinary Bravery, not superhero bravery is what can separate some people apart. Because bravery is subjective, what you are afraid of (and over come) is different to the next person. You might find something easy that someone else finds brave. Albus may have found dueling and magic easy and so would not have had to have as much courage to do those as others, and so as we see him as brave for those he sees those as slightly challenging activities. However, The things that really challenged Dumbledore, such as telling harry he had to die was something out of his comfort zone, and so he was not brave enough to do it. Ginny was pushed out of her comfort zone lots and managed to not only cope but thrive shows real bravery that Mabye even conquerd Dumbledores. Not saying she is more skilled (she's not ) but that's just my thought process.

    I disagree with Sirius. He is the bravest tier.
    The main reason is he demanded to go to the department of Mysteries to save his god son despite risking his life again in Azkaban. He rather save his godson and potentially be caught then stay at home in safety. Even Voldemort wasn’t brave enough to go to the ministry in case of capture.
    On top of this, he stud up against his family’s pureblood mania; was part of the Order of the Phoenix in his late teens; bravely came back to England when Harry needed him in the Goblet if Fire; and remained in his childhood home for the order - which took a lot of psychological and emotional bravery.

    You should do a video for each house ranking all the members by that house’s biggest trait

    Pettigrew was probably sorted in Gryffindor just cause he wanted to be (in my opinion, at least)
