Perfect....now go listen to the live version.
The audience becomes an extra instrument & Bruce is extremely dramatic
I agree,do the live version !
Every Maiden song is better live
Yes. I do think it's always better to listen to the Studio recorded version first though for 99.9% of songs, since they are almost always clearer and better balanced and mixed for a first time listen. However, with certain bands, like Iron Maiden (who are incredible live) it is also then definitely worth following up with the live performance afterwards, for the sheer musicianship and energy in front of an audience.
pageantry and theatrics plus and an engaging audience
Yessssss...live version is a must !!!!!
Bruce Dickinson is one of those iconic voices recognized immediately by all those loving hardrock/metal!!!!
Long live Bruce Dickinson, long live Iron Maiden.
Up the Irons đ€đ€
Lex: "I need an Iron Madien shirt". Will probably get 10 in the mail now lol
100 so far. And counting
She need but go to any generic high-street store.
We probably have a hundred that we don't wear anymore. Sometimes I wonder when we got so old. I remember going to see Maiden early 80's when Bruce had crazy long hair.
Ya gotta do the live version, like Rio. The fans ad a huge element to the song that the studio version can never reach.
its awesome !!!
ABSOLUTELY!! 100% true! They have to experience the live RIO audience and Dickinson & the band's awesome performance. đ„đ„đ„
The live version they released on "A Real Live One" will always be my favourite version (see czcams.com/video/GmjoxCa-gH4/video.html).
@@kevinmclaughlin1092 And when Bruce rides on the camera is epic.
It is quite an epic recording, the Live In Rio version.
I can honestly say that the live versions give you the chills because of the crowd singing it back
I canât say this about all bands, but maiden is best seen live.
Straight facts, one of the best live bands ever regardless of Genre. They manage to elevate already incredible material and their crowds are always amazing.
Never was a big fan but did see them live and you are correct they are better live.
Yes đ„â€
Id put Bad Religion on the list as well. I saw them five or six years ago and their vocal/guitar harmonies are spot on and sound great live
True.
Seen them live in1987, 2012 and 2019.
They're always better live.
got to love Lexs face when she rocks out, a picture of pure joy
This song as good as it is is definitely better live as the crowd really gets into it
Realmente ao vivo Ă© bem melhor
The greatest Metal Band of all Time!!!
Up the Irons Forever!!!!
Agreed. They have no equal
No doubt about it đ€đ€đ€
Yes!! Up the Irons đ€đ€
Yeah đ€
Honestly, only band that beats them for me (in the metal world) is Death. But they have waaaay less mainstream appeal, so Iron Maiden still "wins" overall.
Should have been a live version, this song is specifically a crowd participation anthem.
Agreed, Rock in Rio.
Forreal live maiden is special, they put on such a good show and the crowds are fuckin amazing. Only elevates the already awesome material
Seen them many times and you are absolutely right.
Brazil or Chile, chef'skiss
Nope. The studio version is always the one that best portraits their vision for a song. So, it is *the* definitive version and should always be preferred to a live version with a yelling crowd in the background. /unpopularopinion
Please do "Alexander The Great" by Iron Maiden. If you like guitar solo's you will love that one!
Best song by maiden, ever
Itâs a history lesson in a song
"If you breath you will love that one" fixed đ€đ»
I did a history report from that song, and got an "A".
Iâm with Lex on this one. I used to get the willies in the dark outside and run for the house after taking the garbage out to the alley.
"2 Minutes Till Midnight" A must!!!
Brad your the luckiest man on the planet. Don't ever let her go.
This.
Yes Brad...please do đ
Yeah I'm sure it's been said already, but it can not be emphasized enough that you two have got to do the Live In Rio version of this song. It doesn't happen every concert that a band plays, but every once and awhile a band will play one of their songs and just happen to be recording that night and it becomes a truly epic take. This song, the Live In Rio version is an epic moment in Iron Maiden concert history, and yes the crowd in Rio played a huge part in the epicness.
I'll check that one out but the live in Santiago Chile live version is fucking AWESOME.
As a 52 year old man in the UK with a life long love of rock and metal , I watch a lot of reaction channels on CZcams. Without doubt yours is the most enjoyable !!. There's something wonderful about seeing two people with open minds experiencing for the first time, so much of the music I have loved for years . It's also great that you get on with the reaction so quickly as many other channels spend ages before they actually play the track. Loving all of your reactions so far. Keep it up !! đđđđ
Greetings from Germany. The live version is awesome. There we, the MaidenFamily, are showing how much we love them. And actualy i thought it was the live version, based on the Titel of your video. The Book Of Souls.
Fear Of The Dark is from their album called Fear of the Dark. However, great reaction..and maybe next time a live one. UP THE IRONS 666 Peace & Stay Safe
my first Maiden Album, in 92 (?)
I
The live Rock in Rio version ranks among my favorite songs, ever. I've seen the band perform this live in concert. The crowd adds so much! And Bruce never disappoints!
Lex really seems to enjoy the Maiden songs!
Maiden is one of those rare rare bands where you want to listen the live version of every of their songs.....it just sounds better and the crowd engagement is always nuts
My god Steve's bass is so good. All finger picking and constantly moving. Makes the song IMO
I find myself paying more attention to Steve's bass as I get older... he is amazing
Rock in Rio version. You have to see 100,000 fans singing along.
more than that, there were 250,000 at that concert
Was it not near 500,000?
THAT CONCERT WAS SOOO LIT!
@@stephenlee7877 It was a festival. Not every one there was for Maiden.
Should've hit "Killers" for Halloween. You guys need some Paul Di'Anno Maiden.
YEESSSSSS 1st Metal album I brought with my pocket money! Always has a place in my heart!
Phantom of the Opera
I love that album so much
Live versiĂłn is a must, fans are a great part of the song! Up the Irons!!
Maiden songs are always EPIC, a journey if you will.
That end verse. To me, it just closes the circle..I am a man who walks alone, with fears going through his mind, ..the songs depicts how he builds his own fears and at the end...when he walks on a the dark road..he is in fact alone ...nothing to fear but whatever his mind imagines being out there... thats how I see it ...
Greetings from Denmark. I enjoy the videos and reactions in here SO much â€
Being "a lot" older than Brad & Lex, this amazing couple, I knew most of the music they react to when it was released and listening to their reactions now, decades later and in a different time, is a lot more than just entertaining.
My advice: Stay curious, let your guards down, open your mind and heart, as the world is a lot bigger and there are so many more beautiful things and people in places you wouldn't dream of.
Don't believe all you've been taught, good or bad, as it might be a lot different if/when you dig in and experience yourself - if you dare and come with an open mind and heart!
It's not always the cover reflects what is inside, it goes with music as for people!!
†With love /Pia
Haven't heard the studio version in forever. so use to hearing this with the crowd, it's weird LoL
A masterpiece when they play 5his live, agree with others need to do Rime of the Ancient Mariner
One of the rare examples where the live version leaves the studio recording for dead. And when you experience it in person in the middle of thousands of other fans it's powerful beyond belief. đ \m/
This is one that is way way better in the live version. The way the band interacts with the crowd is awesome. You can feel the energy
0:37 MY OH's FROM LEX! DOES LEX EVEN KNOW THE POWER SHE HOLDS OVER MERE MORTALS??? BRAD MUST BE THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS TO HAVE CAPTURED THIS ANGEL! Best reaction duo on the Tubes. The best I tells ya! The Best!!!
Rock in rio version!!! đ
Took me back with this one!!! You guys NEED to check out a Live version of this one! The crowd singing along is amazing.
But I do think it is literally about being afraid of the dark.
Live version is the best cause you see the band playing and the crowds reaction.
This is one of those bands you need to hear the live versions first. Hearing the crowd makes your hairs stand up
Really need to do Iron Maiden Rime of the Ancient live offstream. Get a feel for what Maiden concert is like.
Iron Maiden must be done with live versions đ€
You must find a live version, the audience participation to this track is always phenomenally epic.
This is by far my favorite band of all time. I'm glad yall approve đ âșïž
I would say that pound-for-pound metal for metal this is Iron Maiden catchiest song. It's just hook after hook after hook between the vocal and the guitar lines... anyhow, I think I'm with Brad on this one it feels like it could be fear of the dark State of Mind more so than the actual environment
I think both of you will be blown away by Steely Dan. Its a 70's jazz, r&b and rock. That band is special. My recommendation is Steely Dan's Do it again, and Reelin in the years. Really enjoy watching your reaction on old 70's classics.
My brother was just as Lex, always insisted on having a night light going. I'd shut them off when he fell asleep and I'd find them back on later, the light always woke me up. I don't know if you have reacted to any early Iron Maiden yet, I would highly recommend Prowler and the self titled song Iron Maiden. These were before Bruce Dickinson took over lead vocals from Paul Di'Anno.
Up the irons! Actually i interpret the song both literally and metaphorically! Which is great! Itâs like the sound of fear and the dark! Darkness, dark times, sadness, fear, the unknown!
Lyric videos crack me up. "As you quicken up your face" đđ I could see Brad getting confused haha.
You're giving me a strong Cloak and Dagger vibe here ! Love your reactions !
Two things, one you should watch them do this live, talk about theatrical! Two, with all due respect to Brad, I always thought Lex couldnât be any more cute than she was but going with this X-Men Storm vibe she is even more cute than normal!
"That's So Iron Maiden"...LOVE YOU GUYS!
Living in a home with paranormal activity and your heart is pounding in expectation.
That what this song means to me
You haven't seen or listened to anything until you watch and listen to the live version, rock in Rio, epic. One word epic.
5:32 you are so real for that Lex haha love the appreciation x
Haha omg I could not ever smoke bud and chill with the both of you , my ribs and cheeks would be constantly cramping up from cracking up đ€Łđ€Ł....btw Lex you looking hotaf with those eyes đ
"Ouuh, that's so Iron Maiden!"..... Lex is an angel of light.
Live version of this song are soo good. The crowd sings along
The bass guitarist who is the creator of Iron Maiden is afraid of the dark and this song was written about those fears.
fear of the dark is a primordial survival mechanism, why its so common
One of the Greatest Tunes of All Time !!!
My favorite Iron Maiden song. Kicks so much ass!!!
Lex got it at the end of the song. Guys if you read this, watch Fear of the Dark live in rock in rio. You'll not regret of the interaction with the audience and the laugh that Bruce makes in the starting lines ;)
No one ever mentions the album with Blaze Bailey doing the lead vocals. It had a darker tone and was awesome in its own right. "Judgement of Heaven" is amazing.
Because itâs just not as good as many of the Bruce led albums. Not saying itâs bad cuz itâs not but theyâve got way better stuff that of course gets mentioned before that stuff
Lex's contacts are cool for Halloween. Keep on critiquing my favorite music, y'all and God bless.
One of my favorite bands and Bruce even has his own commercial airline.
when I left the trailer park I grew up in a storage room inside an underground parking lot that was no longer used for parking. It was crazy because it was probably 300 feet long with no windows and the only light switch was right in the middle! So when I had to turn the lights off and leave it was about 150 feet of pure darkness I had to walk through to leave. I often had a CRAZY feeling of being watched and would run out the door lol Then I would be telling myself how stupid it was to be scared of nothing at my age... but it never stopped... that place was creepy... and oddly enough it never happened anywhere else ever again or before.
Dang you should have watched the live version of this in Rio, itâs even better than this.
The live version of this song from Rio is one of the best performances of any song ever.
My favorite iron maiden song. You should check out when they played it in Argentina...it was AWESOME; rivals Moscow '91. The crowd basically sang it for him (he sang it of course, but you could barely hear him over the crowd).
Well done you two! Both the Rio Live and this are equally great (and different).
This song live is ICONIC đ€đ»đ„đ„ up the irons
Fear of the dark is an absolute classic.
When doing Iron Maiden, you have to watch them live!!!!! Believe me, it's a must!!!!!
Those exclamation marks automatically disqualify *everything* you say.
"I love Iron Maiden" - welcome to the family. We're a big family :)
Iron Maiden with Bruce is just the best Number of the beast is amazing
Loneliness of the long distance runner by Iron Maiden is my go to song for a good bike ride.
For some reason Iron Maiden is one of those few bands that I'd suggest reacting to their live version versus studio. They just hit different with an audience.
According to Bruce Dickinson (the lead singer). Steve Harris (the bassist) wrote this song because he himself was really afraid of the dark.
Rockin in Rio " fear of the dark " live. Please check it out. The live version of this is incredible, to hear a million people sing this is unbelievable
My man is reading the lyrics!! This is so freaking awesome!!! Y'all are absolutely awesome!!!
Bruce âthe Human Air Raid Sirenâ Dickinson is the đ storyteller!đ„đ„đ„ Great Reaction Kids đ UP THE IRONS đ€đ€
I grew out in a dark and cold country. I feel that being in dark is safe, its the light that reveals you out to "evil". say, you are in the dark road and there's a lamp post, yea? if you go under the light everybody and everything can see you from the dark. if you hang out in the shadows, or in the dark, its safe, "they" might not see you, but you can see "them"
Gotta listen to the "live in rio" version its next level crazy. The audience goes absolutely crazy
No no no, you have to do the live version from Rock in Rio
You guys are the best. More Iron Maiden and Rush!
OMG LEX. always so mmmmmmmmmmm yea, nuff said. you both are awesome together. Brad your awesome!!!
Fear of being alone in the dark is in fact fear of NOT being alone in the dark âŠ
I grew up in the basement hahhah!!!, the way you said it was so funny.
The melodic instrumental is so good in this one.
Live is so much more entertaining⊠especially the concerts they have done in Rio. Here are some entertaining songs they do liveâŠ
1.seventh son of a seventh son
2. Paschendale
3. Dance of death
4. The Clansman
5. The red and the black
Seventh Son of the Seventh Son is epic.
I also love "The Evil that Men Do" and "Judgement of Heaven"
Ironically, the biggest fear of being alone in the dark, is that maybe you're not alone.
wasting love is a nice ballad from them. a tune to check, for sure.. love when bruce sings "wasting love" on the song
I will never stop telling this story. Got tickets to a Maiden concert with my wife. Had to pee like all hell. Between songs, I leaned over to her, and said, "I gotta piss so bad the only thing that could keep me from going is "Fear of the Dark." They started the intro to "Fear of the Dark," within a second of me finishing that sentence, and I screamed into her ear (metal is loud), "Never mind. I'll hold it."
Love that they open their shows with a cover of "Doctor, Doctor.". It's a tribute to the band " UFO". That band was phenomenal.
just booked my Bruce spoken word tour tickets! cant wait!
Aces High is a must, must, must! And great costumes!
Lex looks so excited. love it đ this song do that to me too đ€đđ€
The live version is great .
Reputation in some of my days kind sucks you 2 help me out . Good job. Tks
You guys need to listen to the live version epic doesnât even begin to describe it especially with the crowd louder than Dickinsonâs singing.
I have ocd, an anxiety disorder, and as a kid I was always thinking thoughts like this. Scared something is between my bed and wall, running into the dark kitchen to turn the light on, scared something was out my window trying to peek in, sleeping the whole night with the light on. As an adult, same thing. Only now, thanks to testosterone, I think people are trying to mess with me all the time. Taking meds really helps. My psychiatrist called me "hyper vigilant." Yep, I'm right wing. Lefties have domestication syndrome. Obedient, no threat perception, no disgust response. I'm proud of how I am. Just wish I could tone it down enough not to need meds.
I'm asocial. Can't hold a job because everyone gets hostile with me because they can tell they annoy me. If I could be born again, I'd still want to be "vigilantly inclined."
But not like this.
You guys need to react to this again... the Live in Santiago Chile video. It's fucking great. The audience/crowd are so into it singing along. It's fucking EXCELLENT !!
Lex is vibing so hard it's making Brad move
Seen these boys twice now.... Omg even better liveđ
